He better. He'll be 25 this year.Hopefully he makes a big jump in year 2.
So many think every player in the draft should make the team and half of them should start. It's unrealistic. A third-round receiver shouldn't be expected to start as a rookie. You should expect to develop him into at least a third receiver over his first few years and if you get lucky, you find a starter.I don't think anyone was saying that. Day 1 starter? Rookie 3rd round WR's just don't contribute that fast. Very unreasonable expectation.
Not the way it works. You can find starters in every round, but you'd have to be far better at drafting than any team is. You take players based on projections, and projections often turn out to be wrong. So, instead of taking him in teh 3rd round, the Cowboys probably could have had him in the 6th or 7th round.
Right. Every corner in the NFL is the best corner you faced in college. The guys you used to beat up when they tried to bump and run you don't exist. You can't even just blow by third and fourth corners. You have to hone skills that you were able to get by with because of the level of competition. If you're a good route runner, you've got to become a better one. If you're a speed receiver, you've got to learn to use more than just speed. If you are a physical receiver, you've got to learn to be more than just physical. The position, yes, the speed of the game, however, is where I think he was struggling. I think he will be better this season for having had a season to learn.
Ok boo merTony Hill had 2 receptions for 21 yards his rookie season...
He finished his career with 499 for 7988 yards.
Especially being that he went to Podunk U. Small school players generally take longer to adjust due simply to the inferior competition they faced. So many think every player in the draft should make the team and half of them should start.
