Dak Prescott, even with a great game on Monday people on this forum(the normal crowd) has went in every thread and said the usual. But in other threads have criticized coaching routes and the usual, but ignore it in the threads on Dak. If you're in this thread please dont bother to post. If ur in for a debate then by all means.

Dak's problems are some of his own and some out of his control IMO.

He will miss open WR's because i agree with most that he doesnt have the best touch on a pass. That doesnt mean he's not accurate, but he just hasnt gotten the touch on a pass. He will throw in strange angles that usually get him in trouble, and basically i just think he has been trying to do too much. Nothing wrong with throwing the ball away or just taking off and running for 5-8 yrds. 2nd and 5-2 is a whole alot better than 2nd and 17 after a sack or a int.

When i say Dak doesnt have the touch, i mean he throws it where the WR will be but its not where the WR will want it. Romo had this problem aswell his whole career. WR had to reach back, jump and dive for passes Romo threw. The difference between those passes and Daks incompletes are Romo had WRs who were better and could make them tough catches. These guys are average guys who arent talented enough to get that catch. Romo heard this critiques is whole career aswell. Especially early in his career.

Now to get into some things that arent his problem. The system, Dak cant control a OC who refuses to play to his QBs strengths. Now we saw this come in the 4th quarter and the Eagles couldnt stop him. Its frustrating to see team after team go with quick routes that get the ball out of the QBs hands. WRs inability to recognize their QB is in trouble and cut off their routes. Collinsworth highligted this monday night and not one WR cut their route off other than Cooper, but he was double covered. Quick pressure up the middle. This has been the problem since Romo. And as we even saw with Brady this weekend, a QB looks bad when a team can pressure right up the middle.

Now i read some bull about Dak could throw on Philly because their secondary was injured. Philly doesnt blitz so you have 7 guys covering 2&3WR and 1 TE because Dallas doesnt really run 4 WR sets. Its hillarious to me that Cowboys own fans will talk so much about other teams injuries to try and prove Dak is the worst Qb in the league, but ignore the injuries on the OL and the inept WR play of the very team they cheer for so they can try and prove their right about a Qb they dont like.

Its frustrating that the coaching seems to go outside their box only when they feel their jobs might be on the line. It should be like this every week. Keep the opposing team guessing.

Discuss, but this forum is being ruined by personal attacks so keep it about the topic. This has been the best Cowboys forum for a very long time, and its equally frustrating to see this place being torn down by posters who refuse to be able to talk about toipics with trying to be clever with insults or just blantant attacks. So many older posters who would debate daily are no longer posting for this very reason. Read the rules and follow them.

we still need a whole new coaching system. I personally think it would help Dak, but if people are done with Dak, fine, but its going to set us back. We have no number round pick to entice a HC. We will most likely have GM no self respect HC wants to work for.

So, money , talent, and lets face it, a ton of shame and hard work is most of what we can offer a HC. Fans are finally coming around we are NOT going to have the pick of the litter, also fans are finally coming around to the mediocrity we call the Cowboys.

Best we can do it first see if Garrett is gone. Other than that, everything is speculation.

I agree with your post. Dak has accuracy issues, bad form and lack of judgement at times. He's in his 3rd year, so I expect some of this. There are many QBs in this league that don't throw great passes all the time or make bad decisions, but these are things that can be worked on and improved with the right QB coach and time. Blame also has to go to the WRs with all their dropped passes and separation issues. I see nearly every week, WRs making plays when a passes passes are off target. Eli has made a career of it. Prior to Cooper, the Cowboys have a bunch of average WRs (Beasley is an exception). Add to this the OLine hasn't been playing great some of it not their fault. Very happy to see a change in coaching there.

I've been saying for a long time, the biggest issue with this team is coaching and scheme. The Cowboys offensive scheme is vanilla and everyone knows it. It's built on the idea that you have to execute and beat your man. Sounds good, but how about using a scheme that puts your players in good positions, exploit defenses or use designs that causes the opposing defenses coverage issues? How about not running the ball 95% of the time on first down.

Here's my thoughts. Get a new OC in here with a new offensive scheme. Give this OC the game plan design and play calling duties. Get a solid QB coach for Dak. Do you think Romo wasn't in his ear during his rookie year.

If Jerry wants to keep Garrett, I don't care as long as he's not involved with offensive game plan or play calling. Anything more than that, he goes down with the other trash.

He had one of his best games all season, I agree. But he still has trouble anticipating and when to throw. You can call it not having touch but that's only one of many flaws in his game.

Bottom line for all of us, IF JJ and Stephen are serious about winning, then clean out the crap nest at the top, give Dak a new OC, and a top notch QB coach who can work him on his passing slights, a lot of which are habits from being blind sided time and again, they call it happy feet, but also, he has to have a mental clock that starts the second he gets the ball, and then know it's either there, or it's not, that is when HE has to decide, run, or toss it away. I get frustrated watching him hold the ball tic tock tic tock then watch him try to run end around and usually right into a defender being pushed outside. We all have seen him make that silly mistake, and ask why not step up and INTO his throw.... I'll chalk that up to bad coaching...add to it, our receiving corp in all honesty, until cooper was just atrocious. Cooper has improved that in just 2 games, and I'm laying bets, it continues as they get better at knowing one anothers traits.... let's just give it a bit more time, as is we have no choice but to do so anyway...

Mark Schlereth talked about a view that not many have talked about on the offensive scheme. Maybe Linehan is trying to do too much and trying to show he can still coach a team. He was right, if Dallas just runs the power game teams are going to put the success on the OL and Elliot. He was the leading voice in changes to the WRs, in Paul Alexander coming in.

And if you look at monday night, you have to think there was some merit in what he was saying. Look at the dramatic change in pace and playcalling from first half to 2nd half.

2 questions,
Will changing HC's make a difference or is Garrett the best HC that Jerry can do
Do you think DAK can be a good enough bus driver to get this team to a championship or just a good back up QB like Tyrod Taylor and Josh McCown

Dumping Anderson saw a better preforming Dak because he needs more time.
We all saw more aggressive play calling in the Philly game. Thats aggravating

My thoughts on being 4-5 are simple. We aren't going anywhere this year.

This coaching staff needs to be replaced and everybody knows it. Garrett should have been gone years ago. The only thing that matters at this point is that Garrett is not going anywhere for the long future.

As far as Dak goes, you can keep trying to put lipstick on a pig but it's still ugly. I don't care how many excuses you come up with about his game. He is just simply not a good passer and he never will be. If you think a bus driver can win you a ring then he's the guy for you.

As far as I'm concerned, until we get serious about finding a legit franchise Quarterback and, more importantly, getting rid of the fraud that is Jason Garrett, we will never win anything. Just like the last two decades.

It all goes back to three things:

1. The offensive play calling ha sucked
2. The OL has sucked and
3. Dak has underperformed

It's hard to know which one is more of an issue than the others.

The most important aspect of a QB is the ability to process information action quickly and it seems as through Dak may have regressed in that area. I still have hope for Dak though. But we do need less predictable play calling.

Nicely done, and I agree.
