My thoughts 4-5

Its frustrating that the coaching seems to go outside their box only when they feel their jobs might be on the line. It should be like this every week. Keep the opposing team guessing.

I love how Dak apologists say get over Romo but constantly bring Romo up to try and compare Dak favorably.

Dak is still failing to make basic nfl throws. It ain't a fantasy on this forum, even Collinsworth kept bringing it up

Dak Prescott, even with a great game on Monday people on this forum(the normal crowd) has went in every thread and said the usual. But in other threads have criticized coaching routes and the usual, but ignore it in the threads on Dak. If you're in this thread please dont bother to post. If ur in for a debate then by all means.

Dak's problems are some of his own and some out of his control IMO.

He will miss open WR's because i agree with most that he doesnt have the best touch on a pass. That doesnt mean he's not accurate, but he just hasnt gotten the touch on a pass. He will throw in strange angles that usually get him in trouble, and basically i just think he has been trying to do too much. Nothing wrong with throwing the ball away or just taking off and running for 5-8 yrds. 2nd and 5-2 is a whole alot better than 2nd and 17 after a sack or a int.

When i say Dak doesnt have the touch, i mean he throws it where the WR will be but its not where the WR will want it. Romo had this problem aswell his whole career. WR had to reach back, jump and dive for passes Romo threw. The difference between those passes and Daks incompletes are Romo had WRs who were better and could make them tough catches. These guys are average guys who arent talented enough to get that catch. Romo heard this critiques is whole career aswell. Especially early in his career.

Now to get into some things that arent his problem. The system, Dak cant control a OC who refuses to play to his QBs strengths. Now we saw this come in the 4th quarter and the Eagles couldnt stop him. Its frustrating to see team after team go with quick routes that get the ball out of the QBs hands. WRs inability to recognize their QB is in trouble and cut off their routes. Collinsworth highligted this monday night and not one WR cut their route off other than Cooper, but he was double covered. Quick pressure up the middle. This has been the problem since Romo. And as we even saw with Brady this weekend, a QB looks bad when a team can pressure right up the middle.

Now i read some bull about Dak could throw on Philly because their secondary was injured. Philly doesnt blitz so you have 7 guys covering 2&3WR and 1 TE because Dallas doesnt really run 4 WR sets. Its hillarious to me that Cowboys own fans will talk so much about other teams injuries to try and prove Dak is the worst Qb in the league, but ignore the injuries on the OL and the inept WR play of the very team they cheer for so they can try and prove their right about a Qb they dont like.

Its frustrating that the coaching seems to go outside their box only when they feel their jobs might be on the line. It should be like this every week. Keep the opposing team guessing.

Discuss, but this forum is being ruined by personal attacks so keep it about the topic. This has been the best Cowboys forum for a very long time, and its equally frustrating to see this place being torn down by posters who refuse to be able to talk about toipics with trying to be clever with insults or just blantant attacks. So many older posters who would debate daily are no longer posting for this very reason. Read the rules and follow them.

I would debate you in a sensible and respectful way but I totally agree with you 100%. I see the same things with Dak and that he lacks touch or finesse with the ball. He is trying to muscle his passes too much where it goes over the recievers head. To me though that can easily be corrected if they spend an entire off season working on touch passes and throwing deep.

You also mentioned about the receivers not breaking from their routes to help Dak out. In fact, I see the receivers just stand there as if the play is already dead. I wonder if thats part of the plan or are these recievers lazy? I think its part of the offensive scheme. But I don't know for sure. Certainly though, all are recievers seem to do it except Cooper. So maybe they are told to do it.

only comparison between Romo and Dak that's similar, is the dirt on Romo shoes matches the level of Daks passing abilities. If I was Dak I'd be spending every available moment actually being tutored on how to throw a dang ball within the same zip code of a wide receiver. I just seen another new commercial by him today. This guy is clueless, he still must not understand how bad he is. Or he'd be practicing. I'd trade a first to get rid of him.

zzzzzz zzzzz if your a Dak supporter post all you want and your within the rules....amazing simply amazing....lol...if you post negative about Dak your a HATER lol and your post are not withing the rules here....ya right guy...

2 questions,
Will changing HC's make a difference or is Garrett the best HC that Jerry can do
Do you think DAK can be a good enough bus driver to get this team to a championship or just a good back up QB like Tyrod Taylor and Josh McCown
I think there are alot of better HCs.

And i think Dak is more than a bus driver. Dak led that 4th quarter win. I think if you run a system that fits his strengths he will take off. Rather then force him to conform to your style.

It all goes back to three things:

1. The offensive play calling ha sucked
2. The OL has sucked and
3. Dak has underperformed

It's hard to know which one is more of an issue than the others.

The most important aspect of a QB is the ability to process information action quickly and it seems as through Dak may have regressed in that area. I still have hope for Dak though. But we do need less predictable play calling.
I think you saw exactly what the problem was Sunday night. From robotic in the first to fast pace in the 2nd half the results were night and day.

My thoughts on 4-5...............IT started in the offseason and IT was displayed throughout training camp, and IT is still rearing IT's ugly head. True, we can blame Dak for missed throw's, his inability to throw WR's open, and his lack of reading coverage, however the IT factor is coaching ( remember we lost 2 winnable games because of it), development, play calling to Dak's strengths, and poor decisions by ownership. The Cowboys should've kept Wade Wilson in my opinion or brought in a veteran QB like Sanchez who was very instrumental in Dak's first year.

Love when fans use the most recent game as the example of a player and completely ignore a large sample size.

I’ve posted it a bunch, but I’ll say it again....would Dak improve with better coaching? 100% yes. Even with that improvement, is Dak a Super Bowl calibe QB? Nope. That’s why I’d move on way before giving him an extension.

If you’re good with Dak you either...
1. Don’t know what you are looking at
2. Are content just as long as your “Boys” aren’t bad, playoff success is a bonus to you
3. Think the anomaly season of winning a SB with a Flacco/Dilfer type is realistic.

Dak is the #1 reason this team is 4-5. Pull Dak and insert Romo and at minimum we have 3 more wins.
pull dak and put brees and we are 8-1, or put Rodgers and we are 8-1 or put cousins and we are 6-3, or put goff and we are 7-2, some QBs elevate the players around them. some QB need players to elevate them.

its interesting that dak managed the bus his first year (he didn't carry this team, so don't even go there) when Romo was there to mentor him and talk in his ear, but when Romo was gone, he went down hill very quickly....

and don't get me wrong, in 2016, Dak was average. he was never asked to carry the team. he was asked not to screw it up and drive the bus. he did that well. zeke and OL were central to that team's success.

you don't understand, The coached have baseball games they need to attend. How can you let working at football get on the way? :)

His main problem and one of his only real problems(IMO) is his footwork. Specifically, the angles his feet point when releasing the ball. Watch Brady. Watch Dak.

He simply needs to square up his feet correctly. I’m not sure if this is possible. Reminds me of the way Murray ran. The opposite of pigeon footed.

Dak Prescot is an average QB at the moment, I hope that changes, but that is what he is and what he has been for quite a while, although the Cowboys evangalists will tell you how we outtalent the whole league and it is quite possible that Terrance Williams will have to RETIRE next year, aka WE SUCK at evaluating talent.
