lol, 1/2 a point difference for the slow starter Romo and the Cowboys were always in the top quarter of the league? Your grasping bro,,, just admit it was an erroneous statement and stop digging.

I stand by my statement that Romo was a slower starter. You brought up total 1st quarter points, I was referring more to 1st drives, but we can look at first quarter points too. He's my fav Cowboy ever, but he was human.

2014 first 6 games:
SF 0 first drive pts, 3 first quarter points.
Ten: 0 first drive pts, 3 first quarter points.
STL: 0 first drive points, 0 first quarter points
NO: 7 first drive points, 7 first quarter points
Hou: 0 first drive points, 0 first quarter points
Sea: 0 first drive points, 0 first quarter points

2016 first 6 games:
NYG: 3 first drive points, 6 first quarter points
Wash: 3 first drive points, 10 first quarter points
Chi: 7 first drive points, 10 first quarter points
SF: 0 first drive, 0 first quarter points
Cin: 7 first drive, 7 first quarter points
GB: 7 first drive, 7 first quarter points

I stand by my statement that Romo was a slower starter.

Yeah, I'm a big Garrett hater, but I will give him credit this season. No wait, it's all Linehan. Garrett still sucks. :D

It doesn't work that way. If you bash the HC when it's going wrong, you have to praise him when it's going right.

Fair is fair.

This is 2014 all over again, only difference is you dont have Dallas with the slow starts. You have Dallas rarely trailing. You dont have Dalls turning the ball over.

Please explain how Dallas was a slow starter in 2014? Thanks.

Edit: Nevermind, NextGenBoys explained, assuming his explanation was what you were talking about.

I mean, my eye told me Romo started slower than Dak, and not just 2014 either. But I feel 2014 might have a higher than expected 1st quarter points because of the Philly and Colts games where we lit it up off the bat. I think Chicago too. But far too often we struggled earlier, and so far in this young season, we are seeing us come out of the locker room and march right down the field for points on our first drive. That didn't happen all too often in with Romo from what I saw/remember.

Yes I much prefer playing from in front, that way they stick a lot closer to the game plan.

Lol yeah, especially when it does the best job of comparing the two in regards to the metric we're referring to. I see now the division this Dak/Romo thing causes. I'm not anti Romo, and it's coming off that way because I think we start better with Dak.

Smh.

no backtracking.

"Romo is a slow starter - look at these team stats from previous years with previous rosters to show Romo starts slow"

we will lose most of that list and 2017 looks very different - unless Romo is traded and can use some of the $$. Leary will get his big payday and not from Dallas.

Do you think Collins would be an upgrade over Free? If he has the feet to play tackle, that would be a coup.

I would like to see Leary stay too, but I don't think we will pay him what it would take to keep him, and at some point that knee is going to actually give out. If Collins can play right tackle, we could probably get a really good guard in the second or third round and save a boat load of cap room.

With that having been said, I would prefer we keep who we have, including Leary. I just don't know if we have the cap room. If I had to pick between this line and Dez it would be bye bye Dez.

My feeling is would a lineup of Smith, Leary, Frederick, Martin, Collins/Green be better than a lineup of Smith, Collins, Frederick, Martin, Free/Green and if so, then we need to cut Free after the season and use his money to secure Leary.

I don't have anything against Free, but he is our weakest link among the starters and going without him gives us a chance to get younger and possibly better. Between Collins and Green, I think we can find a right tackle, with the loser of that battle becoming the primary backup next year. That would give us a pretty strong top six that we can again rely on not to lose much if a starter goes down.

If I'm Dallas I would constantly be looking in the draft for OL.. It's too big of a strength to jeopardize.

Leary has probably played himself into a big contract.

Good point on the slow starts. Romo has been a slow starter his whole career.

It's the exact opposite with Dak. Sets the tone. What a team, and what a game.
Always hate this kind of talk.

Let's look at Tony's QB raitng per quarter in 2013.

1st: 90.6
2nd: 92.8
3rd: 97.4
4th: 106.1

https://www.profootballfocus.com/qbs-in-focus-by-quarter/

So while Tony ramps up as the game goes along probably because he methodically picks up on what the opponent is trying to do to him (a pretty great thing btw), he's ramping from a pretty high floor.

So no Tony isn't a slow starter. He's always pretty fast he just has a 2nd and 3rd gear a lot of qbs can only dream about.

No doubt Tony gets better as the game goes along once he warms up. This isnt an anti Tony take. He's my fav Cowboy ever. Just saying I love the fast starts we're getting from Dak. My God this Dak/Romo take is dividing all Cowboys fans.

I'm just glad we're winning and looking so good. Let's focus on that.

I just wanted to set the record straight. Tony isn't a "slow starter."

It's true that none of the teams Dallas has beaten so far look like true contenders. But they're beating who is in front of them--which is all you can do. Winning at GB is never easy anyway.

I guess Washington may be playing the best of them now.

But in the NFC, who does look dominant?
Seattle, maybe Minnesota..maybe.
Dallas? Maybe Atlanta?

That's just it; nobody is standing out.
Those 4 teams are all playing well though.

I know but the Packer fan that said this, was just making fun of his team. I found it really funny.
