My Thoughts, Day After

It's actually odd. I wasn't very upset yesterday because I knew we lost the minute TP was being carted off and Dak threw that horrible INT at the end of the 2nd half...I knew it was over. I went from being 100 % convinced the Cowboys were winning to 100 % knowing we lost. It was such a weird moment. It was a light switch. I watched the entire 2nd half knowing we lost, even though it was still a close game. The QB play was the worst I've watched in a long time and our best player was gone. Pretty brutal ending to a season. I really hope the Cowboys find a way to bring in a new QB. I think it's impossible with Dak's contract and no trade clause, but boy do we need something different.
Dak is what is he... good game manager with occasional great moments that fools you to think he can be more. He has hard time throwing deep outs and throwing WRs open. Just realize and admit what you have. His best season is when we have a dominating OL and running game.

So game plan should be.... Draft a RB high enough to ensure success. Reenforce OL with OL/OT. WR maybe sexy to draft but when your QB can't get them the ball WRs are worthless. TE would be more helpful to Dak than WR.

I had the same feeling when Pollard went down.

Dak is who he is. He's not going to get any better.
He'll wow during the season and also have us shaking our heads.
He'll get us to the playoffs, along with a strong defense.
But when we face a better team with better coaching, he won't deliver.
It's been eight years, and I've tried to be patient. But when I see commentator after commentator point out the missed throws to open Cowboys receivers, and any one of them could have resulted in a different outcome, I've seen all I need to see.

Sorry, but if we have Rodgers, Allen or, heck, even Purdy, we're playing the Eagles.
It's been 7 years, not 8.

You were optimistic because you made the mistake of having "hope" in a bad player like Dak.

Hopefully you learned your lesson and you're not just a poisoner of the moment with your "move on from Dak" talk.
You have yet to prove that I'm some big Dak fan. Here is proof that you have no clue and just label anyone who roots for the Cowboys is just a dak lover. So wrong, but I've owned you many times so let's do this again. Sigh..

2 first round picks for Dak Prescott seams like phenomenal upside.

"It's not that anybody hates Dak, but he's not worth twice of Dalton." — @ColinCowherd

I have probably typed that on this forum over 200 times since last March. Colin isn't my favorite guy but I think we'd see eye to eye on a lot of things.

Anytime I said a bad word about Dak you came at me.

Excuse for thinking you're just another Dak over Dallas fan.

Are you staying around for this crap? I'm on my way out.
Without a doubt. I been a cowboy fan since 1987. Hershal Walker vs the patriots during the strike. That game did it for me. Good or bad I love this team. The day I don't want to watch a cowboys game is the day I'll just stop watching football all together. But I really love watching this team play. Win or lose.

My infatuation with this team is bigger than Jerry, more important that Dak or any one player.

My subtle anger is gone today, still disgusted at Dak. Tired of his talk, just shut up and play the game. You did too much talking this yr. Excuses, and promises of taking care of the ball all yr. I'm at the point where if he's the qb going forward I'm OK with that, but if they start looking which I don't think they will, I'd be good with that too.

Elliot looked old but I just think the niners defense just can't be run on consistently. Pollard didn't do Jack either but sf still has to respect the speed. Elliot is a guy I'd go to for a pay cut or just release him. Ud eat dead money but you'd free up 5 mil or I think 10.4 mil with a June 1 cut. Cutting tyron saves another 5.6 mil too.

Then there's a guy like Martin who you can restructure freeing up alot of money from his 13.6 mil caphit.

Now realistically Dallas isn't getting rid of dak. Restructuring and extending dak imo is the way to go. But that would hike up that 2024 cap hit. So do they just let him play 2023 on that caphit. I think that could be the play because 2023s base salary is already guaranteed because of injury.

So with that I could see Dallas with around 20-25 in cap room. Expecting this you can then kinda figure they won't be signing any big FAs.

There's coaching, I think they lose Quinn, and if I were involved I'd insert Edward's as DC. Moore is not getting a HC job. So I think Dallas is stuck with him, I'd rather have schotenhemer running the offense.

I see areas of need.
RB, WR, TE, G, CB, LB, S, QB in that order.

I say RB because pollard is going to be out for awhile, I think the injury will allow Dallas to resign him cheap atleast for a couple yrs, and Elliot should be gone. I'd be good with a guy like Bijan robinson and another rookie later. Have them 2 team up with Davis and pollard later in the yr.

Those that think Jerry doesn't care are clueless. He was visibly broken in that post game interview in tears. Idc what people think of him. He deserves a winner.
Im not so sure Pollard is going to be cheap. He and his agent know he’s our best offensive weapon. In a well run organization he’s a luxury but with us he’s a necessity and that’s just a horrible indictment if the organization.

Dak and Zeke’s congrats will be hard to overcome.

I'm just so disheartened I don't know if I even care anymore. I've been watching the team religiously for most of my 31, soon to be 32 years, and I'm so sick and tired of constantly catching flack over this team that constantly lets everyone down. I get tired of media and everyday people talking about how much of a joke we are and then we go out on the field and do what we did.

Love that team, just sick and tired of them being a laughing stock. It's making me enjoy watching football less and less. I get more negative than ever during the games, it's like I can't even begin to enjoy them anymore. I'm sure it's a dramatic reaction, maybe I'll get over it. I'm a pretty emotional sports fan but there's much more to my life than football.

And I guess what makes it so frustrating is the fact that I've never been one of those fans that blames Jerry and the organization for every little thing they do. And I'm still not, but something really rubs me the wrong way that they thought they could just get away with letting all those guys walking, in particular Amari Cooper, and not replace him. If James Washington/Jalen Tolbert was the immediate replacement, that is something a GM in professional sports should absolutely get fired for. So as a fan it really makes me sit here and wonder, if they care so much about winning why didn't they make something happen at the WR position. Just venting my frustrations, not really trying to blame anybody in particular I just feel as defeated and disheartened as I ever have as a fan.
The salary cap had a lot to do with that.

That used to be me but I don't enjoy watching them anymore. I've been burned out for about five or six years now. I think I'm done. I've missed five or six games in the last 27 years but this one finally did it.

It's not the Dak hate it's the constantly crapping over a thread for no reason. Dak has been your main target all season, and I agree he deserves scrutiny for what happened yesterday...A lot of it, but there could be a thread about Zach Martin saving a kid from a burning building and you would be one of the first post in the thread asking why Dak wasn't there to prevent the fire.

Good write up LM. Really appreciate the effort!

But (you knew it was coming) the biggest need on the Cowboys is QB. With a franchise QB they won't ever win a super bowl.

Just because you pay Dak franchise QB money doesn't make him one. Put Allen, Hurts, Mahomes, Burrow on this team and see what happens.
This would require tanking. You ready for that? I am

You dont have to tank, Seriously, I am to the point you call Dak in and say "We are restructuring your deal" keep it around the hit it was this year and cut zeke... now beef up that DL and OL bring in a couple young RB's and really mean it when you say "We are going to run the ball and play defense"...Dak is fine when he is doing PA's and such but my god he can not consitantly carry the load in the playoffs...If Dak refuses cut him you will then "Pay up" and be done with it.

Ooh trade Diggs for the most picks you can get.. do not pay a player who makes business desicions in the playoffs.

what no DT in your areas of need? I put that above Saftey or TE or WR.

Oh yeah Jerry was visibly broken all right but never quite broken enough to relinquish his hold on the general manager position and let a young guy build the team.

Jerry deserves exactly what he's getting because he refuses to hire competent people to do the job.
How many times does decade does he have to watch the eagles rebuild their team and go to a super bowl before he gets the point that there are better team builders on the planet than him and his son

Update, Day After Yesterday Before Tomorrow

It's windy out. No matter how I may try...I can't shake this dreaded Cowboys feeling like we're all hanging from a rope now. A snow storm is moving in...expecting 3 inches. Not sure how much longer I can go. Hands are not numb. It's 69 degrees here. Signing off! P.S. Thanks, Cowboys...Next Year!

Mostly, because then the Eagles wouldn't have any QB on their roster.

Forgot where I was going with this....

Jerry is the real problem. Jerry says he wants Dak right back here next year. This is why my feelings are we're doomed .
