This embarrassing football is on the coaches. You just lose probably the one guy who transforms your offense into something special for 6 weeks, what do you do? Nothing, you keep running the same plays that are predicated and centered around a guy who can take it to the house on any play from anywhere on the field. Only theres 2 things wrong with that, he isnt on the field, and the opposing team knows he isnt on the field. So they bring everybody up closer to the LOS because they know your offense doesnt pass down the field much even with said playamker. What happens? The flats are covered with zone(Beasley INT). And the middle is one big mess because theres nothing open. You can run on teams because your OL is really good, but the RB doesnt have the ability of said playmaker so they will let him get his 5-6 yrds. But when that 3rd and 5 come you arent going to make that first because they know u dont have that special player and your offense is predictable. And its predictable even with said playmaker but he commands that respect to keep the defense honest. Now they can cheat in coverage, and they can bring that extra man up against the run.
Thats your problem with the team right now. These coaches havent changed anything. Theyre running the same plays that work with the defense playing honest, but dont work because the defense can cheat. And as im typing this Garrett is on NFLN talking about they have lost players in the past and they just had to plug in guys to keep moving forward. This is the mind frame of these coaches. Knowing that they just lost a once in the generation type talent and say something stupid like they just need to plug in the next guy.
Now the game and those who are talking about Dak was exposed. Aikman was exposed when Emmitt held out 2 games and Jerry went and signed Emmitt quick. Romo was exposed when they lost Murray.
If you bothered to watch the game you will see Chargers played zone exclusively. They dared Dallas to run and they didnt. Dak had very little time to throw. The coaches need to open up the playbook and allow this offense to open up. Elliot isnt going to run on the field, and the sooner they deal with that the sooner they might be able to come up with a way to move the ball with a different philosophy.
I really dont even want to get into anything else because what these coaches are doing right now is disgusting.
