Great win.
The Seattle Game
We dominated on both sides of the ball. We controlled the ball and the clock. We had yet another week of a balanced attack. Our OL is making some great holes and our RBs are exploiting them. This was our best game yet as far as getting all 3 backs involved. All 3 made positive impacts. I would have liked to have seen Randle a bit more in the second half though. Tony made some nice throws all game, and really only had one very poor pass, the dropped INT before the Escobar TD. It was unfortunate that Free got hurt, hopefully he won't miss too much time. We need to clean up some of the penalties, but if those penalties are keeping Tony alive, then take the penalty and fight on the next down. The turnover on offense can simply be blamed on the noise.
Aside from Bailey and our Kick coverage team, our ST was pitiful. We had a punt blocked, another was very short and gave Seattle the ball at our 40. Harris, muffed a punt. He came out of the end zone a few times and couldn't get back to the 20 on KRs.
Our D was outstanding today. We are so close to getting sacks, but we just miss out, but the pressure is consistently there. We covered the receivers very well today. Aside from one run, we absolutely contained Beast Mode. We gave Wilson fits, and even forced him into a game ending INT.
The Season
So our bunch of rejects on defense, that group of motley men, has simply gone out and worked their butts off and made themselves into quite a respectable unit. I would like to see more sacks and forced turnovers, but aside from that, they are playing very well.
Bailey is awesome, enough said. Harris is off this year. He is making very poor decisions as a returner and a gunner. He needs to get his mind right or we need to look for a new return man. We need a new punter. Jones is serviceable, but I miss McBriar's leg. We need to find a punter who can simply boom the ball, but also has enough touch to drop it deep inside the 20 when needed.
I love our offense this year. We have a balanced, ball controlling, dominant offense. Murray is having an outstanding year. Romo is making great decisions with the ball. Our OL is quickly becoming the best in the league. One issue I do have is our lack of closing out games. Against Houston and Seattle we had chances to simply get a 1st down or two and run out the clock. We failed to do so, and it allowed the Houston offense back on the field to score and send it to OT. Luckily we got the INT on the Wilson throw or he may have been able to bring them back to tie the game. So, now the last step for this offense to take is to get the ball late and convert the necessary first downs to run out the clock in victory formation.
Record wise, we are one of the 3 best teams in the league. If we can continue to get the OL and defensive play we have gotten so far, there is no reason why we can't continue to have one of the top records in the league for the next several weeks.
