My thoughts on the game

Romo made some things happen but was far from perfect. He missed a few big plays and the interception was horrible but at least people now understand what even a mediocre QB can do with the weapons Dallas has and how bad Drew Bledsoe really is.

It's a shame Thompson was injured, but Dallas doesn't score that last TD with him in the game instead of Barber.

Newman has to break a punt to get any credit at all nationally as a CB. He's the best in the league by a large margin but doesn't have that one moment that generates buzz.

Carpenter looked pretty good when he finally got in the game.

Another game, another horrendous effort on the part of the officiating crew.

I still can't get over how bad Bledsoe is.

Reeves needs to fall on that KO fumble instead of trying to pick it up.

Fasano's looking more and more like a nice player, especially when the QB will actually throw him the ball once in a while.

Crayton's still almost worthless returning punts.

Wow, Bledsoe's really make a line look worse than it really is. I wonder where we've heard that before.

Expect to see a lot of reverses and such to Glenn to keep him a part of the game.

Some good points.

Ya know, not to harp on this Bledsoe thing...but after the game I was watching a post game show and the question was posed, "If the team played the way it did tonilght with Bledsoe, wouldn't he have won the game too"

Some of these guys simply don't get it. With Bledsoe in the game, it's an entirely different game. Fewer guys go out into pass patterns, the defense has a MUCH easier time, the offensive line has to be PERFECT...and on and on.

It's a shame we went to Romo so late..It's great that there's still more than half a season to go.

I'm encouraged by Romo's play, and didn't expect him to light it up. As long as he's consistent and plays within himself, I think we have a chance.

The reality of things is, the experiements with Vinny T and Drew Bledsoe wasted 2 and a half years of team development. You simply cannot win an Indy 500 with retread tires.

I'm happy. Props to Tony Romo. :)

My added thoughts................

Witten Witten Witten......About time our QB used this weapon

Romo looked good considereing its his first NFL start. There is hope on the horizon for this team with a young QB.

I thought Jones looked indecisive last night. Barber deserves more carries

Obvious passing downs still make me nervous with our DB's and Safeties. They just dont look good out there.

OL looked like a completely different group than last week. Will the real OL please stand up.

Please BP.........CONTINUE TO USE THE FB POSITION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BP throwing around kisses to everyone was a bit disturbing to me.

Huge win, now take it to the Commanders!!!

Tony gave everyone a nice feeling of hope and weight off the shoulders perhaps.

But it's only one game. Can't crown him yet.

I agree. Hogeboom had a career game in his first start.

I'm encouraged we have better talent than what we surrounded Hogeboom with. As long as the team rallies around Romo, and he plays within himself, we have enough talent to be a playoff team.

Bledsoe's limitations limited our entire offense. Max protection limited our passing options. Holding the ball too long caused poor field position. Poor decisions were inexcusable for a 12 year vet.

He brought the same energy last week in the Giants game. This time his level of execution was at a higher level.

Last night was a game I felt the team could lose and not be crippled by it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very excited about the win, but I'm more excited about the team's reaction.

Go on the road, get up for the game, play hard, and get EXCITED for playing hard.

After our first couple drives, I think Bledsoe would have been sacked at least 4 times. 2 were definite.

that is the truest thing ever....
It even changes our defense because with Bledsoe in the game, we have a LOT more 3 and outs, which means our defense is on the field a LOT more.

The way Romo hit 6 different receivers was very impressive
1) TG 2) TO 3) Witten 4) Fasano 5) Crayton 6) Barber (which was a great check down by the way and great run after the catch by Barber)

It's easy to speculate but on the flip side, how many of our losses might have been wins if he was our QB sooner?

Here's some additional thoughts, I had to run the kids to school.

Offensive PI could have been called on Johnson's lone catch.

Romo's first sack was a good decision on his part and probably his brightest moment of the game. Peppers sniffed out the play and Romo didn't make the same mistake he did in the Giants game. Unlike another QB, he learned. Sometimes taking a sack isn't the worst thing that could happen.

Fowler, Hurd and Reeves are terrific special teamers.

This was the same defense we've seen all year minus the big play over the FS.

This just in; Bledsoe's still makes lines look really, really bad.

Ellis looks more and more comfortable in coverage every week..

Ware showed a decent spin move on the Ellis sack.

I'm not sure exactly what you're saying - uh, let's just call it a shot in the dark - but I think you may have subtley thrown out that Bledsoe is pretty bad.

Nice sum-up.

Romo managed it nicely, didn't force much, and seeing Fasano was nice. He and Barber will not go down without a hell of a fight.

Davis didn't light it up, but he didn't make the rookie mistakes Watkins did on long balls.

We don't need playmakers at FS, we simply need consistency. Watkins will learn, and he'll be a good player for us next year.

The D played impressively. Carolina is no slouch on O. Their first TD was well earned, but the second one was a gift.

We seemed to have tightened up after that. Props to the 2ndary. Smith and Key were nonfactors in the 2nd half.

mediocre QB? I agree Romo was not perfect I don't see any QB in the NFL who are perfect. I had doubts about Romo ability but he showed himself as more than just a mediocre QB last night.

I've seen Troy light up the world, and I've seen Troy play worse than a Practice Squad QB.

Much of it depends on the talent around him. When Troy had the guns, he was unstoppable. When things fell apart, Troy fell apart as well.

Same goes for Romo. The only comparison I'm making is that the QB will only play as well as the team around him. If this team can continue to rally, then we have a chance. Romo has a chance to being more than average, as long as the team plays better than average.

Romo also has a chance to be great ... if the team around him plays great. If the team stinks, so will Romo.

Last night was encouraging. I didn't sleep well cause I'm ready to kick the mother in law out of the house ... but things are alittle better with this win. :)

To a certain degree I would agree with you but the team made the mistakes getting flagged and having plays come back leaving us in long situations and Romo was able to overcome it. I'm not trying to put Romo in the Hall but what I saw from him was better than what I saw out of many big name vet QB's yesterday. In the end I think Romo made the offense look better not the other way around. His passes were on target and he remained calm and cool under pressure against a playoff contending team.
