I think the point he is making is that a RB can look really good when he has limited carries but when he becomes the lead dog, the stats usually go way down.....................a better example would probably be Troy Hambrick.
Those were interesting times around here. I'll never forget those threads.

The fact that Bill Parcells coached this team to a playoff berth with Quincy Carter at QB and Troy Hambrick at RB is nothing short of a miracle!!!

Spags to this day calls it "the greatest coaching job I have ever seen"..........................................................................................................there is a reason Parcells is in the Hall of Fame.

Meaning using stats for a such a limited number of carries is a bad way to predict success over a greater number of carries.

I am fine with the contention that we have not seen enough of Randle to make a fair assessment statistically. Are there overarching trends or traits or ideas that might allow him to succeed. Abilities or traits that he has?

He is 23, 6' 215lbs. He improved from year 1 to year 2 pretty significantly. After his first year, I wasn't certain he could play he looked so slow. Now his quickness is good enough to make people miss in the open field. Even better he makes people miss in tight spaces between the tackles. He isn't overly powerful to push piles but he has the balance and explosion to play through hits and run through arm tackles. He understands his blocking and plays off his blocks. Doing so his lateral quickness shines in highlight TD runs.

His route running is limited but his hands are very good on screens and flares. His pass protection can be soft and easy to shed. It's not all bad but inconsistent.

They are going to rotate them and see what shakes out. I don't think that they are going to have anyone carry the ball over 300 times but I would expect 2 people near 200. That is one thing that Parcells used to do with Anderson, Barber, and Jones.

I think we are primarily going to platoon with McFadden and Randle...............Dunbar is probably released since he surprisingly is the highest paid RB on the roster...............Williams sucks at pass protection so he is a no go and remains at spot duty.

Randle/McFadden/Williams/Days is the depth chart I see shaking out until someone else is brought in. I think Dunbar being the highest paid RB on the roster and DMC having the same skill set and more pretty much guarantees Dunbar a spot as odd man out. I'm intrigued with Days as a 4th RB/FB option. They like roster flex these days and that saves a roster spot to go heavy at another position.

Has anyone noticed lately that Lance Dunbar is listed on the C'boys roster as 5-8 and 195 lbs. lately? Unless I'm mistaken, wasn't he somewhere around 175 when he first arrived at VR? He must have been very busy in the offseason if he actually reworked his body to that extent. I'm wondering if it might have been a misprint.

He was 205 at his Pro Day prior to being drafted.
