Ultimately, we need to draft the Best Available Player at each pick.

IF there is one player much higher rated then all the others then yes do it.

IF you have a group of players all about the same value, then you look at need.

Defense centric draft this year is a must. 1st pick must me the best DE or CB on the board. 2nd pick can't be as big a gamble as has been the past 2 years. 3rd pick might be offense but I'm hoping all 3 first picks are on the D.

I expect Linehand to have a playbook catered to Dak's skillset. Dez needs to be more involved and with a run first attack, Linehand need to be more aware when the opponents defense is keying on Zeke and leaving the receivers virtually uncovered.

Forcing a pick usually gets you a bad player. I don't like bad players. Stick to the board and it will be OK.

According to Will McClay, the board this year is defensively centric so I agree, stick to the board.

This is the first draft in a long time where I have no clue which way Dallas will go. I know all the mocks have us going with DE, but I'm thinking the options are wide open.

I actually think if Takk Taco or Watt are there that will be the pick.

I dont think Takk will be there, and i have read that Watt will not get past the Lions

I understand the need to debate and it's healthy even for the fans. Seems each time the team of late drafts the best available player we win out. I believe now that we seem to look at the science and explosion of a player, we are even better in the later rounds. Yet, let me say, I know we need better help on the DL and DB and we need a better OT. I just don't want to see them reach or get too "cute"

I get it, about Elliot, but people seem to forget how young these players are. Remember the dumb things you did when you were that age? I couldn't imagine how much worse I could've been with tons of money. He will come around. It just takes some time and the right atmosphere. You live you learn. :)

Elliott's what, 22?

It always cracks me up all these guys talking about "maturity" when these guys literally run into eachother head first and full speed for a living, lol.

There is no reason to doubt what the Cowboys are publicly saying about their approach to the draft this year. They have a D to fix and they have acknowledge they will use the draft to do so. Their 1st pick will be the BPA from DE or CB position.

You stick to your board no matter what. I think it is unlikely that DE is going to line uo

That's your opinion and it might actually line up that way, especially at CB as I think that is slightly more likely where BPA happens to actually line up with need. I think you believe way too much in giving the DE pick. I just hope that the Cowboys do not think like you in that regard.

There always seems to be this perception that quality contributors can only be found in the top two rounds. When there is a perceived need at a position we talk about using the first round to get this player or that player.

I really think the Cowboys should get the very best player they can in the first round regardless of position or need. There wil always be a use for blue chip talent and it's important to remember that a 1st round pick is an investment that can edfect the next decade.

As far as these percieved needs, D-line and secondary, the best method in acquiring help is the saturation method. There is never a guarantee that a single acquisition will address a need so you get players anywhere they can be found, ie. early and late draft rounds, rookie free agency...

You then allow them to compete for playing time. In the defensive line you don't need superstars, just a stable of high motors. Then again, there is always the hidden gems like Leon Lett and Jay Ratliff, both were multiple pro bowlers and 7th round picks.

We all have opinions and like them or not it is what feel at the time. I happen to think differently just by what I perceive from the Jones. First, my belief is Jayson Smith and Charles Tapper are going to be difference makers on defense but that is not to say we won't draft a DL type or LB.

I see the target being being T.J. Watt but at the top of the 2nd. I firmly believe Dallas will stick with BPA regardless of what fans want but I also believe Dallas will make a couple trades and one that could include a pick from next year. Corner is a need but frankly they will get a good one even late in the draft.

Just my opinion and in 10 days we will know.

I was recently watching a piece on Jimmy Johnson and he was saying he didn't believe too much in the BPA...He said he had college players, and others, he followed and that he wanted on his teams and thats what he went after.

@LatinMind, I agree with much of what you are saying and thanx for posting it...I hope that you are dead-wrong bout Jaylon (of course) and that he becomes, minimally, 85% to 90% of what he would have been if not injured...that changes EVERYTHING if he is effective...

I am most intrigued by you saying if OJ Howard is there, he is the pick...he DARN WELL SHOULD BE....I think he goes in the top ten to 12 (no way he gets past Cleveland's 2nd pick in the first round)...I will also say that assuming the Howard is taken earlier, I don't see Njoku being there either, can't see him making it past the NYG...but I would also be very intrigued by that guy....otherwise, go and get some defense

Good judgement comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from bad judgement.

What are your thoughts on Q'Neerfeeus Harris in the 3rd?
Hmm. That's pretty interesting. I had to youtube his highlights. Not a bad prospect. While I was at it, I looked at Marmadoone Shazbot. He's kind of short, but looks twitchy.

He's that super-hairy guy, right?
