Romo started slow but what else is new...He came back and showed how easy it can be for this offense. I see him the QB for 16, and 17 with a release or june 1 cut in 2018. Unless he gets injured again i think we can see the end of Romo. If Dak gets any extended start time i dont see him giving up the spot after that.

Dak just looks like a natural fit for this team. Natural leader and even got a glowing endorsement from Witten. The guy has the pocket presence of a vet, and is deadly accurate. Again i say teams waste so much time worrying about the underwear numbers of the combine instead of putting more emphasis on the game and watching them play the game. Use the combine to get into the players head, not hope and praise for numbers running straight lines and running in spandex, the NFL is not track and field, they have pads on.

Alfred Morris is a very pleasant suprise. He's not the talent Elliot is and im excited to see what Elliot will do behind this OL is Morris is breaking 20 yrd TDs. I have to think its pretty much a lock to see Elliot Morris and Jackson as the backs. I cant see McFadden or Dunbar making a play for a spot. Unless they start dunbar on the PUP.

Chaz Green was 500% better this week. Think he will nail down the Swing spot. But i still think he would be better at G.

Escobar seems to have gotten stronger his blocking is really improved and he showed it today sealing the edge.

Think the DL is going to have to overacheive the first 4 weeks, but once lawrence is back it should be a change in the right direction. Crawford,Thornton and McClain are going to cause havoc inside. Crawford and Irving are going to have to do something outside. Still wondering whats up with Tapper.

This secondary will be fine once they stop putting Wilcox in.

I agree with everything you said.

I wasn't to add that Claiborne looks really good. Scandrick was ok in first game action in 2 years but didn't see any mistakes. Had help when a WR dropped the pass that would have been a TD....none the less Scandrick impressed.

Wilcox really can't cover and needs to be on the bench on passing plays. I know safety isn't deep with heath out but if Wilcox isn't careful he will lose out to Frazier.

Speaking of Frazier he was much better tonight then last week. Had a great breakup in man coverage to prevent a first down and possible TD.

Jenkins I think will make the team, was hoping for better LBer play but without Lee and Durant not sure how they will look.

Also not sure if it is Dak or what but Street is a different player with Dak at QB. Street had nice, tough contested catches in traffic both games and has blocked well on runs

The whole tone or vibe of the Cowboys future changed when Dak took his first snap.
A sigh of relieve by the end of the second half of his second preseason game.
Still there is disbelief it's just too good
This is more like a NFl fairy tale transforming into reality.

Feel so much better about our QB's now, tony looked good, and Dak for backup is a big sense of relief.
Swaim had a nice bounce back game, I feel better about him too.
Andy Jones did better also. And liked what I seen from Mayle also, and both from a ST's standpoint too. At least good enough for PS keepers.
I didn't hear Green's name as much as to the negatives. So will see how he does these next 2 games and his improvement.
RB's, we have a truck load of studs here. Can't wait to see Zeke in there. Morris looks great too. I liked what I seen from Jackson so far, but still want to see McFadden in there. I am not sold 100% on Jackson yet, but that % is going up.
I hope Rod Smith returns next game, as I want to see more of him, and hope he wins the FB position, if they keep a FB.

Hope Nzeocha is ok, even if like Irving, and they keep them out a few weeks just to be safe. But LB's may be better than we think they would be.
DT's seemed to get some push, at least the first few series, then a bit later on, but that could have been the Dolphins QB too. Still nothing from the DE's except Jenkins. But can they find a spot for him. Maybe replaces Russell if he doesn't show something soon.
DB's, can be a surprise strength on defense, no one looked to do anything horrible except one player, that shows up poor every week...I don't need to name him...but geometry is not his strong subject.

Bailey, well, just the best in the business. Whitehead, ST's, great, and showing up a bit more in the receiving game too.

Offense will be fun to watch, and I think top 5 for sure.
Defense may be better than people expect. They won't be any worse, but can't see a jump to the top 10 either. So even a jump to the top 12 will go a long way, but by the end of the season just play like a top 10, though stat wise may finish 12 to 16.
So I say for now if around 15 as the last 2 years, but increase the sacks and turnovers will be good enough to win the division and a playoff run.

My hope long term is that develops into our RT. Last week was a checkered game more then it was bad. This week was much steadier and you hope you see enough of that incremental improvement to wear he is your guy on the right

Morris isn't surprising to me. He's one of those soul crushing RBs that plays every down and never stops coming. He hits you in the mouth, and when three or four guys finally get him on the ground, he gets up, goes to the huddle and then comes back and hits you in the mouth again. I hated him in DC and was thrilled when he signed with Dallas.

My optimistic thoughts after PS game two is: man, we are like 2-3 pieces away from being Super Bowl contenders. It's really that close. Maybe two pieces.

Give us (1) probowl DE that can get 14-20 sacks, (1) pro bowl Linebacker like Navarro Bowman, and (1) probowl safety like Eric Berry and our defense immediately becomes a force.

Man, if we had signed Bruce Irvin, Robert Ayers, and Tashaun Gibson it would be super bowl time.

Tap the brakes, everyone. When you add it all up, we have seen approximately one full *preseason* game out of Dak. Game plans are vanilla...he has all day to throw, and opposing teams don't have any tape on him yet.

As to being 1-2 pieces away??? Have you seen our defense? We can't tackle and we can't get any real pressure. Our defense, alone, is 4 pieces away.

I'm just thankful that we *might* have found a backup quarterback that can take the field for a few games..

You're right. Preseason means zip. But when a rookie goes 22/27 for 338 yards, 4 TDs through the air and 2 on the ground--with no picks--it's hard not to get a little bit excited. Stats aside, Dak just looks the part, at least IMHO.

Agreed.

I get that teams are not "game planning" for him yet...but teams also are not lying down and just letting him make them look terrible either.
He has shown incredible poise and game awareness. He is a threat on the scramble, quick slant, back shoulder fade, screens, long balls, ect... While teams are using vanilla type coverages he has still be very impressive...

Not pulling Romo and replacing him or anything...
But very happy and surprised that our 4th round pick that only ended up in Dallas due to Goff, Wentz, Lynch, and Conner Cook all get taken from us before we had a chance to pick them, is reminding the league why the draft is such a gamble and game of luck.

The guy just seems to be one of those guys that the speed of the game doesn't bother him at all.
Most rookie QB's look shocked and frustrated, this guy looks like he is in complete control of every play.

Exactly and those other qbs drafted before him are playing vanilla defenses as we'll and are not putting up Dak numbers.

I agree with all of what you said. I give tony two more years. If it wasn't for the revamping of the oline I think he wouldn't even last this far how he's been hit.

One thing I'm excited about is how young this offense is. All the linemen dez zeke dak twill Brice Cole etc. offense can be potent for years to come.

Tony, Dooley, and Moose have all said it. Our WR corps this year is deeper than its been in several seasons.

While this is true, think about all the other QBs we've seen in PS the last few years. Did Hutchinson, Henson, McGee, or any of those other backup QBs EVER look this good in pre-season? I recall all of them pretty much looking like poop.

**** It is safe to say you could go through the annals of the legends of the game and find few QBs who ever had better numbers through the first two preseason games of his career

Agree on Dak, weve seen some fantastic plays and he Is showing amazing potential, but its very different when people gameplan for you. I disagree with you on defense though. No defense has superstars at every position and when evaluating this defense the only glaring weaknesses I see are at RDE and SLB. The problem is we dont have enough top flight defenders at each level yet. However, if Crawford and Jones emerge as pro bowl type players paired with Lee well be fielding a top 10 defense.

Romo's safety blankets are Witten and Beasley. So confident in those two that unless Street or other WRs are wide open he doesn't throw to them.

Dak appears to be pressed in the mold of the new style of quarterback. As fluid in his movements and delivery as he is in the pocket. But has a weapon he uses judiciously in running when the opportunity arises. But knowing he cannot carry a team by simply running.

What occurs is this.

The game against the Giants when Romo relieved Bledsoe was one wherein the fan base, for the most part, cheered seeing Drew leave. Bledsoe was a good quarterback, and for me the unknown of Romo - regardless of the list of people who will claim they knew about Romo, who oddly enough were the same group who knew about Clint Stoerner - well that moment in time was frightful because of the unknown.

The era when Romo can no longer be what we fans expect from Tony will be sad, because there will be people screaming on this board about Dak and get that old man out of there.

I think my point is, from the ashes rises the Phoenix, and to the ashes will the Pjhoenix return. And the great unwashed will cheer future heroes, and boo past heroes just as fervently.

As much as I am liking this limited results of Dak Prescott, I hope and pray Tony gets a shbot in the Super Bowl before he leaves.

Fact is, I'd love to see the ball on the 18 yard line, with 82 yards to go and needing a touchdown with one minutes and one time out, and watch Romo put on a clinic on come back wins in the SB, becoming the MVP. Essentially sticking it right up the dark side of the defense he faces and taking the prize.

Then Dak can take over because once again the world will be spinning in greased grooves for me.
