My thoughts

Tonight, it looked to me like Dez was facing a whole lot of bracket coverage. And it looks like that to me on most game days this season. But, hey - big surpise... he's Dez freakin' Bryant!

and guess what...we did that to beckam and he disappeared in the second half.

If the Giants get a better 2nd threat it will be difficult to roll that much coverage to Beckham in the future. The Cowboys really need to add some talent at CB next year.

Collinsworth went into quite a bit of detail showing how Dez was being doubled throughout the game. The games where Dez has disappeared in some stretches generally meant the running game took over, etc. The WAS game is the only one I remember and that was on coaching. Dez would do great with slants (YAC), but that is one of Tony's harder throws to make for whatever reason.

yes. we really need to shore up the DB field. I am on the fence to get rid of Claiborne. he has a 2.6 mill salary. coming off knee injury and there has been no indication that he is going to amount to anything. but then again, can he be the 3rd corner and is it worth that cost? Carr has a 8 mill salary and he is not earning any of it. so couple of years ago we thought draft Claiborne and we are solid. now we got a couple of holes with DT and CB. if we keep melton, move Crawford to DE and draft a DT, then we can focus on the DB field and solidify that. that would have the begnings of a very good defense.

Claiborne's salary is guaranteed. If they put him on waivers and he got claimed the new team would have to pay him, but I doubt that happens.

Carr hasn't earned his contract but he's not worthless. They are winning with him as a starter. I don't know if they offer him a pay cut or just cut him.

Is DT a big need? Crawford is better at DT than DE. If they pick up Melton's contract then they have some options. Josh Brent could be the solution to upgrading the 1-tech DT position. Okoye is an option for next season. They seem to really like Jack Crawford now and he's just learning the DT position. They have the guy from UT Whaley that they basically red shirted.

A speed rushing DE is a need and another CB with or without Carr on the team.

I think that is exactly the need going into the draft. There will always be minor spots to fill in the draft and some BPA that are too good to pass, but the those are the only critical needs going into the offseason IMO.

Yes, depending on who does or doesn't get resigned. If Murray is not re-signed then RB could be somewhat of a need. Randle is not proven on or off the field and Ryan Williams is even less proven. Dunbar is not a full time RB.

If they can't re-sign RoMc, then LB could be a problem. They'll likely re-sign Durant, but between him and Lee I don't know if they get 16 starts combined based on their injury history. I don't expect Carter to return, but I do expect Hitchens to be a starter.

I assume that they'll re-sign Free or Parnell. If not that would be a huge need.

Hopefully, Brent returns sometime this season because it would be good to know if he is a legit option to upgrade the 1-tech DT position next season.

I think they definitely take a safety as well. I'm not looking to replace either starter we have and I think Wilcox has a ton of upside remaining, but they definitely need better depth at the position.

You sure about Dez? Dude has over 30 touchdowns the last 3 years, nearly 300 receptions, 4800 yards, I mean what do you want from him? He produces like a top 3 receiver, he should be getting paid like one.

It's especially funny since they showed at halftime what the Giants were doing with multiple defenders to contain Dez.

But hey, he was singled up most of the time.

Crawford is decent. BUt clearly not the player Melton is. After one game? Dez has dropped alot of balls this yr, has ran lazy routes on a few occasions that have caused INTs and doesnt seem to know how to cut off his route when
Romo is in trouble. He can make spectacular plays, but has been taken out of games this yr by single coverage. Crawford has a good motor and is strong as an ox. But he is never going to get you sacks. You dont think Crawford would be better starting along side Melton then Hayden?

I see Crawford as a perfect defensive line rotational player for the Marinelli scheme of play. There needs to be two more very high placed picks at this unit, for my liking. Similar to the top players on the offensive line.

The ones I speak of know who they are and most here know who they are too. We see them every week spew the same garbage. Then disappear after the team wins. But there's an ignore feature. Just saying

You're solid in the discussion arena, Latin...don't pay too much attention to the emotional centered counters.

Think some people can't read or just don't read. Because I don't think I have dismissed Crawford once. I have said Melton is better and gives you something Crawford can't. But have said he should be starting along side Melton

You're sound man, as a transition period along the defensive line will be needed. That requires quality veteran pieces as well...and Melton is proving metal in just this arena.

X, as usual, I like your snapshot.

I'm for two top notched additions in the defensive line...rounds 1 and 2. A top notched speed rusher and a dominant, and proven defensive tackle. If the speed rusher is added, there will be good competition with Lawrence...or an immediate fill for Spencer. But I think a stud at defensive tackle added right now, is paramount to a similar window of change to match the current offensive line.

I like Durant's retention to fill in all the obvious cracks...package linebacker, and functional in support at all linebacker positions.

I like an immediate projection of Lee, McCain, and Hitchens. Carter can rejoin, if he comes along cheap.

Why was IM capitalized throughout the post?

Lee is a stud, but at this point, you can't bet the farm that he'll play 16 games next year.

I think our bigger issue is finding LB and S that can over the middle of the field. Church has not played well in the regard and our LBers have been poor at it for years. Hitchens flashes competence and McClain is okay if slow footed but the rest of them are clueless. Wilber, Durant, and a lesser extent Carter have been bad to this point. The DL doing it haven't made a play all year.

Until we get that, inside routes are going to be a problem and that is where teams do the lions share of their damage.

A dominant D Line makes Danny McCray look like Woody.

Just like a dominant OL makes Romo play his best ball and let's Murray lead the league in rushing.
