My thoughts

Carr hasn't earned his contract but he's not worthless. They are winning with him as a starter. I don't know if they offer him a pay cut or just cut him.

Yep, outside the questions on what Cowboy FA's will be retained, how the Cowboys approach Carr is going to be very interesting.

Give me full time refs and hold them accountable. Tonight was unacceptable and Jerry should rip Goodell a new one. We see pathetic refs every week in the NFL yet nothing ever seems to be done about it.

I really think Jerry should air out his frustration with the overall refs this year. That fumble was another bad call. They should not have ruled it down without looking at it on film. Also, those miss calls on Eli for intentional grounding was just absolutely blatant. The 1st Giants game was also pretty obvious that the refs were calling everything for the Giants.

I laugh at the loser mentality fans are still showing this team. I you cant bring yourself to believe in this team by now this season then you never will. IM not talking bout years past and all the bull alot of you bring up and love to bring up. Im talking about this specific team. All yr this team has fought back from early misakes and have come back and gone on to be victorious. ALL YEAR. Some of you arent fans, maybe you are all i know is im enjoying every cowboys game im watching right now. Watching this team grow together is just something that some of us saw starting in 1991. They were young and they got better. Got beat in the playoffs but you knew something was there.

This OL is by far the best in the NFL. Really think Tyron/Leary/Fred/Martin should all be starting in the probowl. The OL gave Romo nearly 8 seconds to throw the ball on 2 different plays on that winning drive. Fredrick running all the way down the field ahead of Dunbar on that screen was amazing in itself. Wasnt this guy supposed toi have one of the sowest 40 times ever at the combine? Martin is just dominating everybody, He is probably playing like the best OL in the NFL right now. Leary and Tyron form the best left side in football. Its just funny that after the miami game in PRESEASON there were couch GMs and kitchen HCs who were saying this OL was overrated and was going to crumble.

NO secret that i have never been a Romo fan but the guy is worth that 25mil next yr if he's playing like he does now. Guy is clutch and isnt trying to be the hero anymore. He's trusting his teammates. And that was his biggest problem before.

I dont know wat to make of Dez anymore. Giants didnt do anything special against him. They loaded up the box all night so he was singled th majority of the game. He's not worth 15mil a yr if you ask me. If thats what he's asking i would hope Dallas would try and trade him for picks. He makes some of the best plays in football at times, but disappears far too much. Im sure there are some doubles on him. But nobody is going to tell me teams are doing anything over the top because its the run tht they fear first. Love Dez but i just dont think he worth what he thinks he is. I hope he's reasonable and stys a Cowboy tho.

IM wondering if Melton really is back from that ACL completely just yet. Nobody can convince me tat Crawford is a better DT then Melton. The burst off the snap and the pentration Crawford has is a step behind Melton. Melton with his low signing bonus will be restructured to float most of that 9mil into a signing bonus. Would not be suprised one bit if Melton has a base salary near the vet minimum. Melton has 5 sacks in limited time thats crazy to think about. Crawford has zero in nearly or probably double the snaps Melton has.

Crawford has 20 tackles
Melton has 11 tackles 5 sacks and 2 fumble recoveries.

Thats called a big production gap. Crawford is a beast against the run. But gives you close to nothing in a passrush. Dallas issues are passrush right?

Those two should be starting together. With McClain and Hayden coming in the 2nd rotation.

Seems like Lawrence is invisible in this defense. MIncey since Lawence's return has played better. Gotten more pressure and as seen more playing time.

I think Next yrs LBers will be:
SAM : HItchens
MIKE: McClain
WILL: Lee

Carter just seems like he knows his time in Dallas is done. Going thru the motions doing his job and going to the sindelines and seems lifeless. Thats usually what happens when you cant stay on the field. I would say the same can be said for Lee but He is on another planet from Carter. Lee WHEN healthy is the best LBer in the NFL. I believe tho that him playing the WILL will get him out of them situations where he's been injured.

DAllas really needs to kill this Wilcox experiment already. The guy is bad. IM sorry i know there are stil some fans still holding onto his jock like a trophy but he's bad. at this point i would be much more impressed if Dallas just switched it up and moved Church over to SS and slid Moore over to the FS. Moore did line up at FS when he was with NE by the way. Was in packages but still has showed he can play the spot. They wont do it, so i hope they just draft a FS or sign one in FA. Please?

Was very IMpressed with Marinelli tonight. Giants looked like they were going to go on a rout tonight and then Came the double team most of us were screaming for the in the 2nd half and Odell was taken out the game. Marinelli started calling them inside stunts and the sacks started to come easy.

Harris is a very good ST player. returning and covering kicks.

Nobody can convince me tht the NFL and its refs didnt try to steal this game for the giants. Those calls were blatant tonight. But at the end even the NFL nor the refs could lie to the public when you have HD cameras zooming in on plays. Even on the fumble that wasnt according to the refs you could clearly see him still not down when the ball was out. Commentators were even calling it a joke.

Some of this is good. Some is not good. You're way off on Dez. I'm not sure Wilcox is as bad as you think.

Your analysis still left out the stats I mentioned. You focus on a tree and miss the forest.

Seems like you fail to see basic vision in these two types of pressure these two get.

Crawfords pressure, it straight up the gut but th QB is able to get away from him because he doesnt have the ability to get to the qb in pursuit. Which usually buys more time for the QB to find somebody open.
Meltons pressure is quick and has the abilty to close that gap between him and the QB. So that gives him less time to get outside the pocket.

You can state all the stats you want but you cant get away from the fact that Crawford just cant and will never get you sacks. Thats not a put down or dissmisal of Crawford its just reality. And thats why id rather have Crawford play along side Melton rather then behind him. Melton is the type of guy that needs to be on the field alot more.

I haven't been on the forum much lately but just wanted to respond to your excellent post. If people in this forum are still finding avenues to complain... well... They're just happier dwelling in misery.

This team has finally turned the corner and I am loving every single minute of it!

Crawford has been the starter when healthy and plays more snaps than Melton.
Snap Count in this past game:
T. Crawford 43
Melton 31

Claiborne's salary is guaranteed. If they put him on waivers and he got claimed the new team would have to pay him, but I doubt that happens.

Carr hasn't earned his contract but he's not worthless. They are winning with him as a starter. I don't know if they offer him a pay cut or just cut him.

Is DT a big need? Crawford is better at DT than DE. If they pick up Melton's contract then they have some options. Josh Brent could be the solution to upgrading the 1-tech DT position. Okoye is an option for next season. They seem to really like Jack Crawford now and he's just learning the DT position. They have the guy from UT Whaley that they basically red shirted.

A speed rushing DE is a need and another CB with or without Carr on the team.

then in that case we keep Claiborne. minimally he is the 3rd CB (as much as I hate to have the 6th pick downgraded to back up but it is what it is).

I think if Carr doesn't take a pay cut you cut him. his 8 mill can be spent in other better areas (i.e. use it to go after Suh if he hits the market). we can then either draft a CB or two or find a stop gap in FA or both.

I think there is too many ifs and hopefull thinking in the DL...

I am not holding my breath on brent or okoye. both are projects at this point. Brent wasn't that great when he was playing. very inconsistent. so he has been out of football for over a year now. don't expect anything from him except depth or rotation. we have an interesting problem with T. Crawfod and melton. both are similar players that could/should start. the only reason I put Crawford at DE, is that he played there before. he plays the strong side. he is a hustle guy and if we add a 3-technique DT and hopefully see Lawrence progress then he should be able to make some plays from his position.

I don't even know what kind of pay cut if reasonable for Carr. Is he worth 4M? If they do cut him they have to get a mid-level or better free agent to replace him, IMO. Relying on the draft to get an immediate starter would not be a good idea, IMO.

So far they're winning with the DL that they have. It should only get better in the future. DLaw should improve with more snaps. Brent/Okoye/Whaley/Gardner/Bishop/Coleman are all options that could step up. I wouldn't count on any specific one of them, but I would be surprised if at least one of them didn't step up to improve the DL.

Josh Brent was playing better than most people realize. He was about as strong as any DT you'll see. I have no idea if he can get back to that level, but it wouldn't take much for him to be better than Hayden.

There are enough snaps for both T. Crawford and Melton at DT. They play together at times in obvious passing situations and Marinelli likes to limit the overall snap count for DLinemen. I would be shocked to see T. Crawford move back to DE. He has been significantly better at DT. They have a lot of options for Strong Side DE. I expect Mincey to start getting some snaps there if/when they ramp up the snap count for DLaw. They need another speed type rusher at Weak Side DE, IMO, to team with DLaw. Most 4-3 teams have the 2 DE as the primary pass rushers, but Marinelli wants the primary pass rusher to be the 3-tech DT and the Weak Side DE. I don't even know if Melton will return next season. He is due 9M.

I would be surprised to see them go after Suh. He is likely to be really expensive. Would they pay him 12M and then put him in a heavy rotation system like Marinelli likes to use? Can he even be signed for 12M or will it be more?

You were the one bringing up tackle and sack stats for DL. Don't put that on me.

Melton has years more experience. Crawford is a young player with upside and cheap while Melton is what he is. Melton is not very good against the run either. If he doesn't win off the line he has issues playing off and shedding blocks in the run.

a healthy ben gardener might fill that need. I stress might He did very well last year coming out of college I would love to see how he does when he's healthy here.

I expect Gardner to compete at Strong Side DE in training camp. I still think they need to add a speed rusher to compete with DLaw on the weak side.

Broaddus brought up Gardner alot this offseason. And talked about how he didnt look or play like a rookie. Also talked about the coaching staff liking him as a player.Said if they didnt like what they had saw from him he wouldve been cut

I just dont see why they dont team these two up. Especially with the lack of a passrush from the outside edges.

They do play them together at times, but I agree that I thought it would be more often.

I agree with most of your rant except the last part. Play calling sucked, O-line was average at best. Management was divided all that lead to a QB that felt like the world of the his team was on his shoulders. Right now he is on an Elway path to his career. He is not better than Elway. But Elway didn't win his chips until the end of his career

They probably play 5-10 pays together. Thats not even close to be enough. imagine the push Crawford gets inside to go along with Meltons speed. That would generate pressure up the middle along with a blitz. That would allow the DEs to contain which they are very good at. That keeps the QB in the pocket and will create sacks. Thats how the Commanders beat the Cowboys. It works.

If Melton played more snaps, they would probably be on the field together more.

The rotation is probably going to change against Philly with their fasted paced offense.

The DL will never be great as long as Hayden is playing a high percentage of the snaps.
