Thats because we had guys like Hayden, Selvie, a less than 100% Meton, that left alot to be desired.

Build around guy like Crawford, Lawrence, and Mincey and you'll see better production.

Love what Mincey did, but you dont build around him. Imagine if Dallas built around Selvies yr last yr.

I disagree, I think you keep him as the savvy veteran leadership that helps the young guys grow into NFL players.

Marinelli may leave for Tampa, but the defensive players had more to do with playing well than the coaches did because they played like they needed to prove themselves every game. A big part of that was Mincey establishing himself as a leader on the D.

I think some of that gets overlooked when fans try to play GM.

Charles Haley came cheap. Drafted in round four, he was a part time LB and then a specialist pass rusher for SF. After confrontations with both Seiffort and Young, he had to go, so the Cowboys got him for just 2nd and 3rd round picks. He became a 4-3 DE here.

If Jerry can find another deal like that, he should be executive of the decade.

Good post LM
Agree on most except carter
Carter is too inconsistent to be a day in day out starter. It also appears that he is a VERY slow learner and if marinelli leaves I don't want another liability at LB who does not know his assignments for 2 years

Good points.

Carter has played better in this contract year, but I'm not sure that wil be matched in the future. Durant, however, deserves another shot.

I'd bring Hayden and Free back only if the price was right, and I'd draft DL 1 & 2.

I will never be a fan of Sue, and I think JPP may be really expensive for what he's got left.

Interesting that D Ware had a pro bowl year, is also done now that Denver lost, and we may still be playing if he had stayed with us. Denver has more FA questions than we do, and I wonder if he might come back home.

Regarding Tony's back - he'll finally be fully healed by camp, and will again perform at a high level. His aging sidekick witten will also be his old reliable self.

We don't really need too many pieces to make a better SB run. But I am not ready to tear up this no-name defense and throw out marinelli yet; let's add a few pieces and refine instead of restructure.

Sure.

Look all I'm saying is that Mincey brings with him more than above average play. Those are aspects some of us fans don't really take into account when we think about improving the team.

Take Denver as an example, they put superstars all over the place and they got beat by a Colts team that clearly was not as talented as them.

Thats why you can't just go out and gather top players and expect them to succeed without understanding the concepts of team building and how to facilitate them.

The game went just like I posted leading up to the game. I felt strongly it would be a close game with both teams scoring in the 20's with the Packers winning in the end. I wanted so much to be wrong but my gut feeling is rarely wrong.

yes. the team made mistakes. left points off the board.

but i saw this game as a testament to the core of what this Jason Garrett lead team has become.

Fight to the end.
One play at a time.
Next man up.
Do your job.
mental toughness.

etc etc etc.

this team over came all of their mistakes and all of the adversity to put themselves into a position to win. And they did exactly that.

but one of the most confusing rules/calls in the history of the league, took that effort away...

Our problem isn't meaness. Our problem is talentless. We just don't have much talent on that side of the ball, we are over achievers. Lions have talent on the defensive line. Texans have talent on the defensive line, Seattle and so forth. Get some talent on that line, not just some dudes and try to turn them in to Stars.

If we do that, we may have a chance to be special with this defense, IF, we keep the coordinator.

Our Safeties need the most immediate upgrade IMO.

We are pretty solid at LB if we bring back Carter or McClain(whoever comes cheap).

CB is OK with Scandrick, Moore, Claiborne, Patmon, Draft

DE is OK with Mincey, DLaw, cheap Spencer, Draft

DT has Crawford, a bunch of JAGs and hopefully a top draft pick and a solid FA

I would go heavy Defense in the Draft and pick up some O-line depth and a RB in FA

On DL we could get Suh and draft DE or we could get a DE like Jabal sheard or the DE from Philly (it both) and draft DT

We need a play-making safety, free safety. I agree
And we need 3 defensive starters, 2 studs, 1 JAG maybe. So maybe that 3rd guy can be Lawrance or Mincey rotational. But this team needs a monster defensive tackle, and a killer edge rusher. I know they don't grow on trees, but in case they do, we need to find them.

I am disgusted with this game. Im not mad at the refs..Im mad at the players. They had this game won and they didnt execute. They had a team in the dumps and didnt put them in the coffin. GB cme back and handed it to Dallas. Plain and simple. Nobody to blame but the players. GB wouldve traveled the yrds needed to win the game with a FG at the end even if they kept that TD. Defense was gassed. No excuses, this team beat themselves.

Goodbye Marinelli and take this 3 man rush cover 3 with you. Dallas when playing man allowed nothing to GB. He wants to play with his tail between his legs on 3rd and long, the outcomes are what happened today. A long TD and a 31 yrd completion to Cobb. You play not to lose 90% of the time thats what happens....you lose. So go to Tampa and go lose there.

Thats all i have to say about that game. I dont care why they lost the point is they lost. Im more disappointed then those 8-8 seasons. This team is better then GB better then SEA. Today they just werent better mentally. Mental errors. Sell out Jerry, Go out and sign that super rusher you did when you signed Charles Haley. You add a stud rusher on this DL and you win this game. Ill take this secondary these Lbers just give me that super rusher. A guy that is going to make teams game plan for. A guy teams are going to have to shift for and create that mismatch for Crawford in the middle or Lawrence on the edge. Give me that Safety in the secondary that can take a angle for a sure tackle instead of letting the WR run right past you. Dallas is one or two players from the superbowl. This team grew theyre young they hungry.

Murray please go far far away from this team. Thank you for everything you did. I loved watching you carry the ball for dallas like a boss. But you dropped the ball buddy. You came back and had a nice game after the fumble but if Dallas has AP in 2015 id be much more happy. If Dallas has a guy like beastmode over you i would be more relaxed. If Dallas has Randle and a guy like Todd gurley tag teaming i will be more more relieved. You are damaged goods. This season was big for you, but pounding you drive your price down. You shouldve taken that 4 yr 16mil deal Jerry offered you. Because you wont be carrying the ball in 2015 for this team. And thats a shame.

Jerry resign your own guys.
Dez Bryant - is a given, if Roc nation blows these negotiations spank Dez and franchise him.
Bruce Carter - needs to be brought back. He is a playmaker.
Doug Free - is the nail that holds the house together.
Justin Durant - bring this man back please, he's cheap and is a very good WILL.
Nick Hayde - can br brought back cheap, and he's a workhorse.

The rest can test the waters IMO. I like Rolando McClain but Eberflus knows how to use his Lbers. Dallas can run with Lee and Hitchens if something happens. Hitchens really showed alot. McClain is expendable.

Nomore Cowboys football for 7 months. That sucks.

Little too harsh on Murray. AP fumbles as well.

In some ways I blame the coaching staff for not using combination of Murray and Randle more this season. Randle has shown plenty to warrant playing time and keeping Murray fresh. Not sure Randle would get those tough 3rd and shorts and goal line scores as well as Murray. If Murray can be had at reasonable price then fine. If not I do agree with brining in a vet and possibly draft a young guy to play with Randle.

I also want McClain back as long as cost is reasonable and I don't see why he would command high price tag given the last month. The guy was out of football for a year. The man was hurt during last two months of the season and not in great football condition. If we can get him in football condition and RIGHT frame of mind then he is a beast! Look at the first 7-8 games that he played when he was healthy. He is a better MLB than what we have.

He is not a better MLB then Sean Lee not even close.

i was a huge fan of rolando earlier in the year..

but uh...

And if he has, in fact suffered back-to-back concussions, that's worrisome for a middle linebacker long term.

I wouldn't chase him away, but I'm not giving him big money to be sure.
