My Thoughts

The Falcons coached adjusted to what we were doing. Ours either didn't have the ability to or didn't have the talent to.

Defensive line was short on manpower and we refused to jam Julio at the line..we preferred him to catch quick slants all day.

We dont have a player the defense need to key on. Lance Dunbar is our most effective offensive player right now, and while he has been outstanding he is not a main threat kind of guy.

Games like this will happen until we get Bryant and then Romo back. It will get better once Hardy, McClain and Gregory come back because we wont have to leave the same players out on defense the whole game.

Laughable to blame this lose on 3. This D just got 40 + put on them. T. McClain & Mincy being absent really hurt.

oh you thought ATL wasnt going to load the box against the run? They werent going to cover the flats and underneith? Force Weeden to go down the field? He failed. And put the D back on the field over and over again from the 2nd Q on.

And he took the game over

Agree on Wilcox, I posted that on the game thread, In the second half, the Falcons didn't even cover the WRs, they knew Weeden wouldn't throw to them. I blame Garrett for not upgrading the back up QB in the off season. He did it to us several years ago with Brad Johnson. Defense got tired because they couldn't hold them to 3 and outs like they did in the first half. It was the opposite in the second half.

At least one more week of Weeden, then hopefully Cassel will absorb enough of the offense to make a difference.

IN the end, what would the Falcons have looked like if Ryan and Julio were injured? The Steelers may soon find out without Roethilisberger....

i have lost confidence in weeden, cant imagine him playing well at NO with that noise, without a dominant run game we are 2-2.

Very strange game. We dominated them completely and were up 21-7. Then they turned it around and completely dominated us. Give Atlanta credit. They are for real.

No they aren't. Atlanta struggled with a team so depleted with injuries it shouldn't have been close. Atlanta needed 57 minutes to beat us. On top of that Lee, Crawford and Hayden all went out for some time with injuries. Not worried about it, 2-0 in the division plus the teams we beat also lost to Atlanta. Right now we chose our own destiny and just have to win division to make playoffs. After next week we get some firepower back on defense and after the bye we get offensive firepower.

We will win our division

I didn't see Wilcox as that bad. He was trying to tackle guys who went untouched 10+ yards. The defensive line was god awful. Demarcus Lawrence is a bum.

I've been the biggest Wilcox fan, but at some point at safety has to make open field tackles. He never ever does. If you get tackled by him in the open field you are trash.

WeDone did enough to win. It was the defense and the coaches inability to adjust that cost us this game. JG's time management brain fart at the end of the half didn't help either.

I don't think I'm the type to let me emotions get to me. I was saying these things before today's game when people were making "WE'RE GOING 8-0!" threads. I'm also critical after some wins and happy after some losses. The regular season is a marathon, not a sprint.

That being said, I don't see Romo coming back until Thanksgiving, and I was saying in the "8-0" thread that we should be fine if we go 4-4 and we should even have a good chance at taking the division if we go 3-5. We should be able to beat a Brees-less Saints and the Bucs. That means we just need to win at least one more. It's possible. What's not possible is beating the Patriots and Seahawks.

But we optimism had more to do with just being in playoff contention when Romo comes back. It was contingent on us correcting things we've been doing this season. If we don't correct these things, it won't matter if we become fully healthy at the end of the season. Some things we need to fix before Romo comes back are 1) this O-line needs to dominate, 2) we need to find a RB, 3) we need to have versatility in our passes and not just check down like we've done the first 3 games with Romo and Weeden, 4) we need to establish a pass rush.

Weeden did his job. We were simply outmanned. Injuries take their toll. No Mincey, no consistent pass rush. We have to hold on one more week. Getting back Ro, Hardy, and Gregory is a good start. Today was about our defense getting gashed due to being out talented in the end.

He's a backup what do you expect? Getting up 28-17 is about as good an opportunity as your gonna get. Needed the D line & O line to step up.

Maybe now people know why this team after Cassel. Weeden just doesnt have the talent. He can check down with the best of them. But throwing it downfield is non existent for him. Cassel will be starting and should be starting next week.

Dallas couldnt run because Weeden couldnt challenge the defense.

This team put up a fight, but Weeden couldnt deliver and doesnt have the tools to lead this team. It is what it is. Pray this team doesnt take long to insert Cassel,

Wilcox is one of the worst safties in the NFL. His occassional hit or tip INT is not enough to say he should be starting.

OL dominated until ATL realized Weeden couldnt throw a pass longer than 5 yrds.

DEF just got tired, need more horses in the stable and they should be there week 5.

Those blaming Garrett need to stop.

ATL played off TW so i dont know why slants werent called his way, only thing i can think off is weeden just cant manage that,

Would be great week to play Cassel next week. NO should be without Brees again.

Off to week 4
Wow, I agree with every word (except that I think it's pretty unlikely Cassel's ready next week).

Whatever.

He might not be wrong.

This offense is just not very good with Weeden. That first half was an abberation as Atlanta played soft. Once they crowded the line, it was nite nite.

Other teams will now do the same thing.

And this defense, given the injuries, has to be protected by the offense but with Weeden, that won't happen.

I am totally perplexed that people can claim a QB who was totally brutal for an ENTIRE HALF, did his job.

He did not do his job.

All of you with all22 need to go watch it and leave the rest of us alone. You dont need to have all22 to see Weeden was looking for check downs. Thats what he was asked to do. That basically tells you the team doesnt trust him. Ur talking about avg Wrs, all of the sudden ATL has all pro CBs?

Trufant is a top 5 cb
