Just finished watching the replay. Very happy with the win and 3-1 is a fantastic start. Easily could be 4-0. Production from all the rookies is very impressive. After watching while already knowing the result, so a couple observations:

1) Dak is impressive and I love the game planning using his strengths. The occasional scramble to move the chains and ability to avoid negative plays are superior to Romo. BUT Romos experience and ability to get the ball downfield will make this offense even better. Teams will be forced to stack the box and Romo will make them pay. He may be rusty a game or two and I hope Dallas can get an ugly win or two initially. But if Dallas can just get in the dance with a healthy Romo they will be dangerous to anyone.

2) Dallas was very fortunate the first TD drive was extended by the late hit.

3) Mo was beaten on his pick. Thank goodness Gabbard missed badly. Good adjustment to the ball by Mo but a better QB roasts him

4) LOVE the call to ice the game to Beasley. That's coaching with balls.

Yes, Romo will be rusty when he comes back, which will make it harder to pull Dak if he continues to put together wins.

I think what's being overlooked in regards to the MO play is he played the ball. Yes he appeared to be beat but he was tracking the ball in the air which is something we haven't seen. He was gaining ground as well so I think he would've pulled into position if the ball was thrown better. Also he was suppose to have help over the top on that play. Again what was impressive is he was tracking the ball the whole time which put him in position to make the int.

Man when I watched it live they said he was beat but to me it looked like he slowed up to come back to the ball. Maybe he was beat then caught up and slowed down smh. Id have to see it again. For now all I can picture is "proud Brian" smiling away while MO comes back from the dead!

Fair point would be interesting to see that route from start to finish with an aerial view

Dak continues to do a great job managing the game. I totally agree on Romo stretching the field more with deep throws. Havent seen as much of that with Dak and he seems most comfortable maxing out around 35 yards. With that said Dak does have the legs to extend plays so he brings a slightly different element. All things considered, when Romo is healthy he should be inserted as the starter unless the Cowboys are on a roll and hes hitting those big throws down the field.

I actually think MO's coverage was that terrible. He simply saw the ball faster than Smith did and made the quicker adjustment as Smith was continuing his route. Also, the conditions were very windy today and I think that ball was significantly impactly by the gusts. There weren't many deep throws attempted (indeed I think that was the only one) as I think both staffs has that as a concern today. i think it was a risky call by Kelly unnecessarily given the weather conditions.

He was clearly beat, but he made a great play on the ball even though it wasnt a good throw. With NFL rules today its impossible for a CB to shutdown receivers.

Claiborne has been playing great but if Gabbert throws that out in front of Smith, it's going to be a tough play for Claiborne. Smith can fly and while Claiborne can run a bit, I am not sure he was in position to make a play on a better thrown ball.

.

I respect your opinion but I think you're dead wrong on Mo regarding this play.

I saw Mo running in stride with Smith, the reason why it looked like Mo was burned is because he slowed down, located the ball and made the adjustment while Smith just kept running his route. That's on Mo and I hope he risks being burned to locate the ball and make that play every time.

If it was a perfectly thrown ball, maybe it's a touchdown but it was good coverage for man coverage against one of the fastest players in the league.

Yeah I'm not saying that Smith didn't have a slight step on Mo. But I am saying that his coverage wasn't that bad. He was running stride for stride with Smith at the 30 with his head turned to find the ball. Gabbert would have had to make an absolutely rocket of a throw under those conditions which he did not. By the time they hit the 25 yard line you can see Mo has already recognized that the throw is off and begins to shorten his stride once he hits the 20 or so. I say all of that to say this: the optics of him being beaten looked much worse in real time than what was actually the case. I have rewatched the play 10 times and framed by framed it and I still think Mo had good position on the play. It would have taken a perfect throw to beat him. The windy conditions made that throw unadvisable.

Mo played it perfectly. Even if he was beat, Jones was heading to where a perfectly thrown ball would have had to have been. Mo adjusted and slowed down and made a play!

Saw that play the same way...thought he played that perfectly and wasn't beaten. Reminded me of when Deion baited a throw to Rocket Ismail when Rocket played for the Raiders. Prime found the ball made up ground and got the pick.
