My thoughts

For guys like Sharpe and Smith, it's what they do to get rating. I do believe they hate the Cowboys, but love the attention they get when they trash them. Right now, they're loving it. I can't stand either of them, but I get it.

I agree that every team that plays Dallas, knows the world is watching and there is nothing better than to embarrass the Cowboys on the world stage. The Cowboys get a lot of hype every year since it has the largest fan base. The Cowboys need a coach that can get these guys focus. Maybe an "Us against Them" approach.
The us against the world approach worked with Jimmy. I believe his Cowboys team was the best of all time. Nobody talks about the teams we had to overcome in the East. The Commanders, Giants, and Eagles. That was a war 6 times a year. Football at its finest.

:facepalm::facepalm:. I don’t blame you for wanting to believe in the positive of the world, but some people are just selfish, egotistical people. That is what this team is. If JG goes to NY, just watch. He’ll explode there. The team will be mature. No JJ over him. It’s going to be a sad sight to see. These players are just that. Egotistical. Selfish. Greedy. I understand wanting money. I completely understand that since they’re putting their bodies on the line, but would it hurt to rearrange your priorities? Did you not see what @mattjames2010 posted last night about our QB and RB? I understand having fun and goofing around, but the things they do are suspicious. Their priorities are out of line. Why do you think Bennett called people out in the locker room? Why did Bennett snap? He’s seeing things go rotten in that locker room that we aren’t seeing. Folks don’t yell in the locker room often. Players only do it when there is a severe problem.

nope what did he post.

What worked for Jimmy is he had Jerrys money to do whatever he wanted to do. Ask him what happened in Miami

This is one of the things that makes players hate fans. I doubt there isnt a player that plays the game that doesnt care. One of my good friends is Lorenzo Neal, I've seen him literally check friends of ours who have questioned his desire for the game. Not gonna get into specifics but a couple times it didnt end pretty for the other guy.
Id bite Lorenzos nose off and spit it at him...straight bidness

Nice OP...well thought-out....

...IMO, we (including me) talk about coaching as the issue and it is amongst the largest issues....but this starts at the top - the team looked to me like they gave up on turkey day, other than a few players - right when I thought that Dak was one of the "go get 'em" guys with that run where he bowled over the CB, I said aloud across my plate of food that at least one guy came to play....then, on the drive where they went for it on 4th down, my 10-year old nephew says "Uncle Pants, it almost looked like Dak threw that ball too far - did he give up?" he was talking about the 3rd down play where the receiver just stepped out. And then I watched on 4th down when he and Zeke were not on the same page and dak tried to lead him or Zeke laid back (take your pick) and that made me give up for the day and head to the chocolate cream pie - was Dak trying to lose TOO to get rid of Garrett?

....it looked to me like the team gave up...THAT is on Garrett - then you hear after the NE game that heads will roll and Garrett will go as a result of a loss to Buffalo - only to have that stomped into the dirt by the JW-swilling Jones-crying in the next game? I say drunk....the team had to think all along "well, Jones says he has our backs" and the first thing he does after the Bennett tirade in the locker room is go out and talk to the media for 28 MINUTES and say he isn't firing Garrett - Jones most certainly does NOT have the players back - the only backs that he has are the green variety that pays his bills and lets his team be #6 instead of #1

Jones the GM is the problem (well documented in other threads); every football mind on earth (not talking about us) KNEW that Garrett should go and yet, he stays; "but the players love Garrett??" no, I would think the legit players have no use for him and his antiquated way of running the team, they don't like the scripted plays that he forces on Moore, they see and know what is going on, Bennett is the only one (apparently) that isn't drinking the RED cool-aid in that locker room.....

Until Jones pulls his head out of his own ***, this team will continue to be mediocre...keeping a mediocre coach for 10 years? really? wake up while you still can Jones and do what is right for America's Team

Again i say, how do you fire a coach with the 2nd most wins since 2016? All the while building their team. Do you people realize just how young this team is? Now i just think these players arent responding to these coaches anymore. Do you blame them? The whole league knows what theyre going to do sunday, would you want to play for that? If Jerry had a coach on this team he wanted as his next HC JG would've been fired already.

I don't know if you saw Jimmy on First Things first but he implied that reason why the Cowboys were successful then is because Jerry was busy trying to get out of debt. He let the football guys handle the team. When his debt was paid after the first Superbowl he started meddling. I know Jerry not going to change but he needs to hire guys who understand how football is played now. The issue with Garrett is he has not changed his football philosophy. John Harbaugh for the Ravens changed because the Ravens owner was going to fire him.

Ok so why didnt he have the success in Miami where he had 100% control the whole time he was there?

A poster here said a couple days ago, Cowboys dont need a great coach, they just need a competent one. And i 100% agree with this. Dallas has the 2nd most wins in the NFL since 2016 with a bad coach, and an incompetent one. Thats saying alot about the players they got.
I said that! Lol.

But I like the way you said it better.

I don't know. I did not follow the Dolphins. My point is Jerry needs to hire a coach that is willing to adjust to how the game changes. The game is evolving. The best teams in the league run the football. The myth of having a passing quarterback is overrated. You need a quarterback who can make plays and not turn the ball over. In 2016 Dak was that. Our weakness that year was no playmakers in the secondary eventhough Clayborn was playing out of his mind until he got injured.

Lol it was you huh. I havent always felt like this, but i really feel bad for Jerry right now. This guy has let McClay do his thing. And McClay has built a very good team. Those that dont worry about the whole Jerry needs to be the face know just who really is the GM. Theres a reason McClay has turned down every attempt to get him out of Dallas. 2020 comes the missing piece hopefully a coach who can coach you to wins in them tough close games.

Is it evolving? What do the top 5 teams who will 99% be the only teams realistically competing for the SB do? They run the football and play great defense. Is that any different then what usually wins the superbowl? People have this idea that the game is changing. Its changing for teams like KC whos have a coach whowill never win a superbowl because he doesnt coach defense. Hell the only time Peyton manning won a superbowl is when he had a defense. The game is only talked about evolving for fantasy football stats. When the games mean the most running the football and defense are what is going to win you the superbowl. Period

Billy B has full control in New England. No way in hell he comes to Dallas where Jerry won't let him take a dump without getting permission first.

Depends on if Jerry wants one last run. Bill is good friends with his former boss, Big Bill and Jimmy. They could tell him more than enough. It’s a long shot, but if this team actually was able to pull it off, we are in the SB next year. No doubt in my mind.

We can run the football but we our missing the defense. I think the issue is we just can't force turnovers. Is it the scheme or the players?

nope what did he post.

The DJ fight WAS NOT confirmed false, and there were two incidents - one where he was CLAIMED to have knocked someone out, and another where he and a DJ nearly got into a fist fight.

You also know he and Zeke went to a night club and had "***** guns" that they were shooting at people, right? That's real fantastic. Just 7 months after Zeke got off a suspension for assault, he goes to a club with one of those sticking out of his pants with Dak.

Real smart guys. Real great optics for the Cowboys. That's who we want leading the team.

^ Is this hard work? There are more examples of this.

People often get defensive when faced with the truth. Just saying.

Not like the players cared about fans in the first place. Or they’d put their pants on and win. They continuously make the same mistakes every week.

Bennett had to yell and subtlety call people out in his locker room speech. I’m not doubting your story, but it doesn’t apply to this situation. These players are different. The time period is different now as well. I have no doubt that they don’t have a desire for the game, but the problem is that that desire is very small and not a priority over many other things in said players life. The obsession with fame, and the greed. The stats and Instagram likes. That’s what’s overcoming the desire to win and play real football. If you can’t see that, I hope you see it one day for what it really is.

Thank you for your sage insight into the mindset of a bunch of humans you don't know.

Let's look at this from another angle: What about the other team? If they care, shouldn't they "put their pants on and win" too?

I wouldn't say they don't care. I would say the "degree" of caring is different. I remember what Irvin said and did when Jimmy Johnson was hired. He created a list of players who weren't really into winning and weren't passionate about football. And Irvin said, "He doesn't want to be here, he doesn't want to be here, etc."

I also remember what Michael Strahan said about his teammates when they had to face Larry Allen. Guys would actually feign illness because they didn't want to go up against him.
And then witnessing my son's college team and the guys my son says just give up because they're not used to winning (my son played for teams that hardly ever loss in rec league, middle school and high school so it disgusted him when he saw it among guys who didn't come from winning programs).
Furthermore, some guys play because they were simply blessed with the right body, height and speed, but they really don't have a passion for the game.

All this to say, I don't dispute what Lorenzo Neal or you are saying. But I think it's a matter of degrees. And to guys like Irvin who give/gave it 150 percent, sometimes guys who don't give as much appear to "not care."

That's my two cents. As always, thanks for your commentary.

Yes. They should. And I’m talking about consistently losing. Losing 1-4 games sparingly is under stable. Losing like the Cowboys do, Bengals, Commanders, etc need to put their big boy pants on and start caring.

Where is this Bill Belichick nonsense come from......lol.
