Watching this team is exhausting sometimes. It seemed like JG had found a groove and had turned the page starting in 2016, lost players and made a big trade last yr that turned the page again.

What it looks like now is, you got a young mind that wants to be more innovative, but doesnt want to stray away from the HC philosophy. One thing is for sure, you have a HC, and 2 DC's who are too stuck in their own ways to switch up their system to play to their players strengths. Instead opting to say, Im going to run what ive always ran. This is why they cant win a big game. Teams know in them tight moments what you're going to do because its all on film. And every big situation plays out the same. Same situation, same play...

Its not all on the coaches, the players dont seem to be holding themselves accountable. This hot boyz garbage is a joke. Lawrence's own mom told him to shut up and just play.

Richard is a joke, how to you run a over aggressive passrush but play a soft zone on the backend? Then they wonder why they cant stop teams on third down. The simplest slant will almost always net you a first down. I know this and im just a fan. Teams do it every week against these coaches.

Its time to get a coach who runs a cohesive team. Not two factions doing two different things. Let alone two different things on defense.

If i was Jerry i would get a list of 3 coaches and ask them how interested they are in the job. Then tell them to evaluate what they see in the 4 remaining games. Bring them nin to interview when its time and ask them what they saw and what they need. Players gone, posistions of need, and then ask them about the QB and WR1 posistion.

MY 3 coach wishlist
1. Bill Belichick: Think ive made my wish known for some time. I know its a long shot but if theres a owner who could talk Belichick into Dallas if he wants to leave NE, its Jerry.

2. Urban Meyer: He has a history with Elliot, but its not really a good thing. Elliot questioned his play calling in college in public. But he's a hard nose coach who runs a system that would be good for this team.

3. Nick Saban: He has nothing else to prove in college. He is a great coach who preaches discipline. Some will talk about his time in the NFL and he couldnt do it. Miami is probably the worst organization in the NFL. Why because ownership doesnt have resources.

Tyron Smith, is it time to move on from him? His body is broken down. He can hang with the avg DE but he no longer can hang with the best DEs in the game. I actually think he needs a yr off of football to get his body healed. Every yr its the same injuries. So obviously his injury isnt healing in the amount of time he's getting in the offseason. Me personally i just think his body is broken down and he should retire. Dallas could release him and save almost 9mil on the cap this offseason. Or restructure his deal, in 2020 he has 5.29mil in guaranteed money left on his deal. The team could give him an extension and bring his caphit way down and still save on the cap without releasing him.

Then theres Elliots Deal who wont even start his extended yrs until 2021, but will already have 2 yrs of pro rated payments on his extension paid before his extension yrs even start. So those of you still clueless and quoting the 90mil contract his signed shut up and do some research of his deal. Its basically a 4yr 50mil deal.

Byron Jones, He is not a CB. The guy simply cant play with his back against the QB. His 2 career INTs have come playing FS. Why? Because he is facing the QB reading him and everything is in front of him in a single high. The yr he was bad at S the team had moved him to SS because Heath couldnt play SS. If Dallas could sign him uner 8mil a yr do it and let him compete with Woods at FS.

Alot of people have been talking about Amari not showing up. Amari has the most yrds and TDs in the NFL since he's been in Dallas. Amari is receiving attention with the S over the top on alot of plays. The real question should be why isnt Gallup producing more since coverages are being rolled over towards Cooper.

Extending La'el might have been the best deal the Cowboys made this yr. 10mil a yr for a guy who coming into his prime. He's been Dallas' best OL this yr. Just seems like the light has turned on he is dominating players now.

This team should do everything they can to bring back Michael Bennett. He is a true leader for this team. His leadership is what this DL needs. Its a stupid thing that these coaches still dont start him.

I hear time again how the LBers have regressed. They havent, they just dont have the protection that this scheme calls for from the DTs. The DTs constantly allowing themselves to be washed free up interior OL to attack the LBs. This again goes back to the defense looking like their playing different defense on each phaze from the DL to the secondary. They just seem lost in the scheme. DL being over agressive that leave their LBers exposed in the run game, and leaving the secondary exposed with the soft zone.

I used to remember Dallas having a very good ST, players like Harris, Heath and Frazier being monsters playing ST. I have no idea who is playing ST these days. A few weeks ago vs the Vikings i was saying that i didnt like that Pollard wouldnt even attempt to go after a kickoff but rather would just allow it to hit in the endzone and let the refs call it dead. It seems like it wouldnt matter him doing that, but vs the pats he looks lost and didnt seem like he knew how to handle the elements on tricky kickoffs. Thats just pure laziness by him. Something that seemed so little could have such a big impact.

IMO the biggest Needs for 2020
CB, S, 3T, WR, LT

CB
Jones shouldnt be playing CB, and if there is a player who deserves to be called a regressed player its Awuzie. Teams are abusing him every week. Same types of routes with the exact same results. Lewis should be playing the left side in 2020 and move Awuzie to the right side. Or draft somebody to play outside leaving Lewis in the slot. But its clear Dallas cant lose Lewis.

College players
CB: Trevon Diggs(Bama)RD1, Kristian Fulton(LSU)RD2

S: Grant Delpit(LSU)RD1, Kyle Dugger(LRU)RD3

3T: Javon Kinlaw(SC)RD1, Neville Gallimore(OU)RD2,

WR: DeVonta Smith(Bama)RD2, KJ Hill(OSU)RD4

Don’t forget that this team just doesn’t care anymore. There’s a cancer or outside influence on that team.

Dak and Zeke never acted like this. This lack of caring and lack of the will to win. Now they do not care. Same goes to everyone else in the locker room. Amari wasn’t like this in Oakland. D-Law. Jaylon. It’s a huge mess. We weren’t like this last season where we made a 180. You can blame coaching all you want, but you must admit that this team has all their priorities in the wrong places.

The players rank their priorities in this way
1. Mo’ Money mo’ better
2. Fame
3. Celebrity Status
4. Instagram likes
5. Highlights and cool pictures
6. Girls
7. Clubbing/Partying
8. Fashion
9. Cars
10. Winning

That’s not good. I cannot tell if our lack of caring is because everyone on this team is a soft as butter and they have no balls to call other players out or if they simply don’t care, but whatever. This team is done for. No matter what someone’s contract is, or who the coach is, we are done for. This locker room won’t be saved at the click of a new HC. What a shame.

This is one of the things that makes players hate fans. I doubt there isnt a player that plays the game that doesnt care. One of my good friends is Lorenzo Neal, I've seen him literally check friends of ours who have questioned his desire for the game. Not gonna get into specifics but a couple times it didnt end pretty for the other guy.

People often get defensive when faced with the truth. Just saying.

Not like the players cared about fans in the first place. Or they’d put their pants on and win. They continuously make the same mistakes every week.

Bennett had to yell and subtlety call people out in his locker room speech. I’m not doubting your story, but it doesn’t apply to this situation. These players are different. The time period is different now as well. I have no doubt that they don’t have a desire for the game, but the problem is that that desire is very small and not a priority over many other things in said players life. The obsession with fame, and the greed. The stats and Instagram likes. That’s what’s overcoming the desire to win and play real football. If you can’t see that, I hope you see it one day for what it really is.

Maybe not caring is too strong, but lackadaisical effort ain't. Whether it's because the team has no focus or they're too caught up in their own hype, it's obvious there's a problem with effort on the field.

The DC hire is almost as important as the HC. They need to do a deep dive into why this franchise for the last decade under multiple DCs and multiple schemes cannot buy a turnover. I think this is more important than anything on offense.

To be a Cowboy player is unlike anything I have ever seen in recent memory. Jerrah's Frankenstein monster brings in the audience. The last two game we played we set records in people watching the game. Tomorrow the Ravens play the 49ers possible Superbowl preview and I see the Talking heads talking about the Cowboys. The bafoon known as Stephen A. Smith dances like a clown on national TV every time the Cowboys lose. Shannon Sharpe hates the Cowboys so much he had the nerve to give Wince the nickname Walk it to um. Maybe because I am fan of the Cowboys but it seems every team outside the NFC East play us like its their Superbowl. Even the Patriots seemed pump up to play us. My point is we need a special coach who can deal with this pressure and I don't know if Jerry's ego would let that happen.

I do worry that we might pick an even worse coach for the team, but Jerry has no choice except to move on from JG at this point. Hopefully he has sound advise on which direction to take.

I'm not buying in on the players don't care, but they do seem different this season. That's especially true on the defense. Maybe last year still had some leftover Eberflus influences in place.

Also Columbo may be a great assistant, but not quite ready to be totally in charge of our Oline.

We did a lot of coaching changes the last few seasons. I'm not against Kellen, but I bet he would be better at it with a little bit more experience.

Billy B has full control in New England. No way in hell he comes to Dallas where Jerry won't let him take a dump without getting permission first.

Lorenzo Neal was considered the best FB in football until he retired. It exactly applies to your post. Youre basically saying these players dont care theyre only there to get paid. Martin, Tyron, Heath, Frederick, Amari, and who knows any many else are playing with broken down bodies right now. They'd rather be on the field then the injured list. You attack elliot because he fought for his money that he clearly earned since being in the league. Nobody has touched the ball more then him since being in the league. Nobody has more yrds. He doesnt care? Fans like you are whats wrong with rooting for teams now. You talk about them and their desire like you know them.

Maybe theyre making the same mistakes every week because theyre running the plays and playing in the schemes that are the same every week. You attack coaching because they dont adjust to teams they play weekly, but forget that when you want to criticize players on the same mistakes they making weekly because the schem. Its better to understand what youre watching rather then say these players have no heart. Im sure after punching you a few times in the face leaving you unconscious these players might tell you, it would be better for you if bothered to study what youre watching.

I think a lot of players are playing hard for personal reasons and they definitely are not playing like a team with a purpose. I feel like the players see "Dead man walking" in Garrett and have lost a lot of confidence in what they are hearing.

Thats a valid opinion, but then i see ex players on media shows that speak on the Cowboys actually argue with talking heads on shows that want to say exactly what youre saying. And defend the players and actually start asking talk heads about the plays being run and their predictability. Actually you dont even have to watch the talk shows, just listen to opposing player interviews and talking about they knew exactly what the Cowboys were going to do.

I can agree with this. This doesnt look like a team right now. Thats a direct fault in the coaches. JG is a lost man right now but thats why there are other coaches to keep them focused. They arent doing their jobs.

For guys like Sharpe and Smith, it's what they do to get rating. I do believe they hate the Cowboys, but love the attention they get when they trash them. Right now, they're loving it. I can't stand either of them, but I get it.

I agree that every team that plays Dallas, knows the world is watching and there is nothing better than to embarrass the Cowboys on the world stage. The Cowboys get a lot of hype every year since it has the largest fan base. The Cowboys need a coach that can get these guys focus. Maybe an "Us against Them" approach.

A poster here said a couple days ago, Cowboys dont need a great coach, they just need a competent one. And i 100% agree with this. Dallas has the 2nd most wins in the NFL since 2016 with a bad coach, and an incompetent one. Thats saying alot about the players they got.

:facepalm::facepalm:. I don’t blame you for wanting to believe in the positive of the world, but some people are just selfish, egotistical people. That is what this team is. If JG goes to NY, just watch. He’ll explode there. The team will be mature. No JJ over him. It’s going to be a sad sight to see. These players are just that. Egotistical. Selfish. Greedy. I understand wanting money. I completely understand that since they’re putting their bodies on the line, but would it hurt to rearrange your priorities? Did you not see what @mattjames2010 posted last night about our QB and RB? I understand having fun and goofing around, but the things they do are suspicious. Their priorities are out of line. Why do you think Bennett called people out in the locker room? Why did Bennett snap? He’s seeing things go rotten in that locker room that we aren’t seeing. Folks don’t yell in the locker room often. Players only do it when there is a severe problem.

I agree our plays and schemes are lazy and unimaginative. I see plays where the hustle is there, but there's also those it's obviously not there. Our lazy coaching has led to some lazy play at key times in games. There's your cancer.

Nice OP...well thought-out....

...IMO, we (including me) talk about coaching as the issue and it is amongst the largest issues....but this starts at the top - the team looked to me like they gave up on turkey day, other than a few players - right when I thought that Dak was one of the "go get 'em" guys with that run where he bowled over the CB, I said aloud across my plate of food that at least one guy came to play....then, on the drive where they went for it on 4th down, my 10-year old nephew says "Uncle Pants, it almost looked like Dak threw that ball too far - did he give up?" he was talking about the 3rd down play where the receiver just stepped out. And then I watched on 4th down when he and Zeke were not on the same page and dak tried to lead him or Zeke laid back (take your pick) and that made me give up for the day and head to the chocolate cream pie - was Dak trying to lose TOO to get rid of Garrett?

....it looked to me like the team gave up...THAT is on Garrett - then you hear after the NE game that heads will roll and Garrett will go as a result of a loss to Buffalo - only to have that stomped into the dirt by the JW-swilling Jones-crying in the next game? I say drunk....the team had to think all along "well, Jones says he has our backs" and the first thing he does after the Bennett tirade in the locker room is go out and talk to the media for 28 MINUTES and say he isn't firing Garrett - Jones most certainly does NOT have the players back - the only backs that he has are the green variety that pays his bills and lets his team be #6 instead of #1

Jones the GM is the problem (well documented in other threads); every football mind on earth (not talking about us) KNEW that Garrett should go and yet, he stays; "but the players love Garrett??" no, I would think the legit players have no use for him and his antiquated way of running the team, they don't like the scripted plays that he forces on Moore, they see and know what is going on, Bennett is the only one (apparently) that isn't drinking the RED cool-aid in that locker room.....

Until Jones pulls his head out of his own ***, this team will continue to be mediocre...keeping a mediocre coach for 10 years? really? wake up while you still can Jones and do what is right for America's Team
