My thoughts

Ok so why didnt he have the success in Miami where he had 100% control the whole time he was there?
I believe, in part, because Jimmy really didn't have as much control as he thought he did. Dan Marino ran the show in Miami. I remember reading somewhere that Jimmy wanted to have a run-oriented team, but Marino wasn't having it. Marino cast a shadow bigger than Jimmy's. What was interesting too is that Jimmy never was able to find the running back equivalent of Emmitt (granted, Emmitt Smiths don't exactly grow on trees). Jimmy rebuilt Miami's defense, but he could never find his Emmitt and couldn't get rid of Marino if he wanted to. I think Jimmy would have traded Marino if he didn't fear the backlash and, of course, if Marino would have let him. ;)

Watching this team is exhausting sometimes. It seemed like JG had found a groove and had turned the page starting in 2016, lost players and made a big trade last yr that turned the page again.

What it looks like now is, you got a young mind that wants to be more innovative, but doesnt want to stray away from the HC philosophy. One thing is for sure, you have a HC, and 2 DC's who are too stuck in their own ways to switch up their system to play to their players strengths. Instead opting to say, Im going to run what ive always ran. This is why they cant win a big game. Teams know in them tight moments what you're going to do because its all on film. And every big situation plays out the same. Same situation, same play...

Its not all on the coaches, the players dont seem to be holding themselves accountable. This hot boyz garbage is a joke. Lawrence's own mom told him to shut up and just play.

Richard is a joke, how to you run a over aggressive passrush but play a soft zone on the backend? Then they wonder why they cant stop teams on third down. The simplest slant will almost always net you a first down. I know this and im just a fan. Teams do it every week against these coaches.

Its time to get a coach who runs a cohesive team. Not two factions doing two different things. Let alone two different things on defense.

If i was Jerry i would get a list of 3 coaches and ask them how interested they are in the job. Then tell them to evaluate what they see in the 4 remaining games. Bring them nin to interview when its time and ask them what they saw and what they need. Players gone, posistions of need, and then ask them about the QB and WR1 posistion.

MY 3 coach wishlist
1. Bill Belichick: Think ive made my wish known for some time. I know its a long shot but if theres a owner who could talk Belichick into Dallas if he wants to leave NE, its Jerry.

2. Urban Meyer: He has a history with Elliot, but its not really a good thing. Elliot questioned his play calling in college in public. But he's a hard nose coach who runs a system that would be good for this team.

3. Nick Saban: He has nothing else to prove in college. He is a great coach who preaches discipline. Some will talk about his time in the NFL and he couldnt do it. Miami is probably the worst organization in the NFL. Why because ownership doesnt have resources.

Tyron Smith, is it time to move on from him? His body is broken down. He can hang with the avg DE but he no longer can hang with the best DEs in the game. I actually think he needs a yr off of football to get his body healed. Every yr its the same injuries. So obviously his injury isnt healing in the amount of time he's getting in the offseason. Me personally i just think his body is broken down and he should retire. Dallas could release him and save almost 9mil on the cap this offseason. Or restructure his deal, in 2020 he has 5.29mil in guaranteed money left on his deal. The team could give him an extension and bring his caphit way down and still save on the cap without releasing him.

Then theres Elliots Deal who wont even start his extended yrs until 2021, but will already have 2 yrs of pro rated payments on his extension paid before his extension yrs even start. So those of you still clueless and quoting the 90mil contract his signed shut up and do some research of his deal. Its basically a 4yr 50mil deal.

Byron Jones, He is not a CB. The guy simply cant play with his back against the QB. His 2 career INTs have come playing FS. Why? Because he is facing the QB reading him and everything is in front of him in a single high. The yr he was bad at S the team had moved him to SS because Heath couldnt play SS. If Dallas could sign him uner 8mil a yr do it and let him compete with Woods at FS.

Alot of people have been talking about Amari not showing up. Amari has the most yrds and TDs in the NFL since he's been in Dallas. Amari is receiving attention with the S over the top on alot of plays. The real question should be why isnt Gallup producing more since coverages are being rolled over towards Cooper.

Extending La'el might have been the best deal the Cowboys made this yr. 10mil a yr for a guy who coming into his prime. He's been Dallas' best OL this yr. Just seems like the light has turned on he is dominating players now.

This team should do everything they can to bring back Michael Bennett. He is a true leader for this team. His leadership is what this DL needs. Its a stupid thing that these coaches still dont start him.

I hear time again how the LBers have regressed. They havent, they just dont have the protection that this scheme calls for from the DTs. The DTs constantly allowing themselves to be washed free up interior OL to attack the LBs. This again goes back to the defense looking like their playing different defense on each phaze from the DL to the secondary. They just seem lost in the scheme. DL being over agressive that leave their LBers exposed in the run game, and leaving the secondary exposed with the soft zone.

I used to remember Dallas having a very good ST, players like Harris, Heath and Frazier being monsters playing ST. I have no idea who is playing ST these days. A few weeks ago vs the Vikings i was saying that i didnt like that Pollard wouldnt even attempt to go after a kickoff but rather would just allow it to hit in the endzone and let the refs call it dead. It seems like it wouldnt matter him doing that, but vs the pats he looks lost and didnt seem like he knew how to handle the elements on tricky kickoffs. Thats just pure laziness by him. Something that seemed so little could have such a big impact.

IMO the biggest Needs for 2020
CB, S, 3T, WR, LT

CB
Jones shouldnt be playing CB, and if there is a player who deserves to be called a regressed player its Awuzie. Teams are abusing him every week. Same types of routes with the exact same results. Lewis should be playing the left side in 2020 and move Awuzie to the right side. Or draft somebody to play outside leaving Lewis in the slot. But its clear Dallas cant lose Lewis.

College players
CB: Trevon Diggs(Bama)RD1, Kristian Fulton(LSU)RD2

S: Grant Delpit(LSU)RD1, Kyle Dugger(LRU)RD3

3T: Javon Kinlaw(SC)RD1, Neville Gallimore(OU)RD2,

WR: DeVonta Smith(Bama)RD2, KJ Hill(OSU)RD4
Good stuff!!!

The ONLY issue I have is you putting CB over DT as a need. Because nothing we do on D is going to improve us to any significant degree as long as our DT's are this crappy!!

Maybe not caring is too strong, but lackadaisical effort ain't. Whether it's because the team has no focus or they're too caught up in their own hype, it's obvious there's a problem with effort on the field.
Yeah, I think the effort has been driven out of some players by schemes/playcalling that overall is not working. If there's any perceived lack of effort, it's directly caused by poor coaching.

Depends on if Jerry wants one last run. Bill is good friends with his former boss, Big Bill and Jimmy. They could tell him more than enough. It’s a long shot, but if this team actually was able to pull it off, we are in the SB next year. No doubt in my mind.
Isn't Billy B under contract?
