My Three Most Wanted Position Upgrades

The three most important upgrades have changed since the last time I posted. First and foremost is the future of the Cowboys is the future QB named Wentz or Goff as runner up. The second is a change for me, that was a nose tackle that does more than play patty cake at the line of scrimmage and grabs the QB and the RB in the back field. The NT goes to number three and I now go with running back named Henry at number two. I now have the best OL, QB, and RB to kill defenses in the NFC East (and most of the DF in the league). The NT now does what Denver did last year with the real pressure coming up the middle and the DEs looking like Supermen (as we all know Defense wins championships). As for the other rounds best player available as long as we support the first three picks.

This is MY team change to get us winning more than 10 games a year to competing for championships.

This team needs a ballhawk for a safety in the worst damn way, and that's been the case for a long while.

Safety is nice when you do not have a great NT but he will not win you chanpionships.

They aren't winning much of anything with the crap they've been running out there at safety. I agree that a DT that can get pressure is a huge need as well.

I think we'd be in nice shape if Rankins and Joseph could be added to this defense. That's what I want to see happen.

Safety
Backup QB
WR

In that order. Wilcox/Church were the worst players on our defense last year by far.

Assuming all reports of Byron being cemented at safety are true, ballhawk safety = Byron. In that case, the need probably goes to CB as our depth is rather atrocious.

I personally have seen enough of Church and Wilcox and consider SS one of the top 3 needs. I definitely consider CB a huge need as well. Would like to address both.

Wilcox at SS is worth a look, but drafting one is fine. Lots of needs. Really just going to be take the BPA of our need positions. There's lots of quality names being thrown around here and they can't all be drafted. There will be players that fall way past their expected draft slot.

What do we need most?

Speed, playmakers, and touchdowns.

I want guys who fit that criteria, offense or defense. Guys that can make things happen on their own, and don't need a coach or a system to do it for them

I can't bear to watch another season with such a conservative, boring team.

when i think about what would make the most impact right away, i think d-line, linebackers, and defensive backs. we have question marks or below average players at all three levels of the defense; adding a starter at each level would dramatically upgrade this team.

as much as i would like a quarterback of the future, i'm beginning to think that won't happen and even shouldn't happen. we're not so bad that it's time to turn the team over to a rookie quarterback -- but we're not so good that we can use the fourth overall pick on a guy who won't see the field for two years, either.

You nailed it! IMO! All good points.

such short sightedness - you take your QB at 4 - you groom him and be happy you made the decision

and that way you don't to start a Rookie QB

My positions to upgrade are:

1. FS
2. SS
3. MIKE

I'm a believer that if you're really good at both safety positions, the MIKE, center and QB...you're going to be a tough team to beat. We're already good at QB (although we need a future franchise QB) and center. The other positions leave a lot to be desired.

Great post . You listed the exact qualities that this team lacks. Speed on both sides of the ball is a problem and speed will help with the other two you listed.

Dt (Thornton didn't solve the issue)
DE (too many unknowns besides lawrence)
CB (nuff said)
S (church sucks now)
QB (nuff said)
LB (2 injury prone guys)

I can't even name 3 most important. They're all important in their own way.
