Made a list of my top 3 prospects for each round. I did 3 separate lists for the 1st round because it really depends on if we stay put or not....Only one guy worth trading up for. I also have feeling the Cowboys will somehow trade there way into the 6th so I did a list for the 6th as well.

Round 1: (If we trade up)

Jadeveon Clowney (DE, South Carolina) - Clearly the best player in the draft IMO.. Would be on board with trying to go up and get him even if it required next years first. I would be willing to give up this years 1st, next years first and our 3rd and 2 7ths or something like that.. Clowney is a Star.

Round 1: (If we stay put)

Aaron Donald (DT, Pittsburgh) - Donald would give us an instant upgrade on the D Line and seems to be the perfect fit for what Rod Marinelli wants in a 3 technique but with the recent signing of Melton and Donald's limitations as far as versatility I wait at 16.. Not worth a trade up IMO although I wouldn't be furious if we traded up to 13 or something to grab him.

Anthony Barr (OLB/DE, UCLA) - Barr needs a lot of work but the Cowboys have the perfect coaching staff to take him to the next level..Barr has unlimited potential and would be well worth the pick at 16..Again though he is a guy I would wait on.. Not worth a trade up IMO

Ryan Shazier (OLB, Ohio State) - Many people may think this is too rich for Shazier but Shazier could be a huge part of this defense. He has an incredible motor and plays with passion and maximum effort. Shazier would step in as the Cowboys weakside LB on day 1 allowing Bruce Carter to move to SAM where he may be a better fit. Shazier is absolutely a top 20 talent IMO

Round 1: (If we trade down)

Timmy Jernigan (DT, Florida State) - Cowboys don't want to take a 1 technique in the first round but in a trade back scenario I see Jernigan as a real option..He plays with a swagger and a nastiness that this defense desperately needs and is better than advertised as a pass rusher..He is not just a space eater by any means.

Jimmie Ward (S, Northern Illinois) - Ward is the best cover safety in the draft and may be able to stop the trend of every teams TE abusing us. Ward is extremely versatile and can be used in both man and zone coverage effectively. He will also come up and play the run.. Also plays with a swagger and confidence.

Demarcus Lawrence (DE, Boise State) - Lawrence is a bit raw but with Marinelli as the DC I think he would be in good hands. Another guy that plays with a swagger. Has the athletic tools to be very successful and with a team full of strongside DE's (Spencer, Selvie, Crawford, Mincey) The Cowboys add a true weakside DE

Round 2:

Marqise Lee (WR, USC) - I think there is a real chance that Lee falls to us at 47 and we should take advantage..Between having a terrible QB and some nagging injuries his stock has dropped but Lee is one of the best 25 players in this draft and if he falls to 47 it is a no brainer.. Lee replaces Austin well because he can play both inside and outside and is a great run blocker.

Lamarcus Joyner (S/CB, Florida State) - Joyner is a good option for all the same reasons as Ward..He can be used in a bunch of different ways and is an outstanding football player..Reminds me a little bit of Tyrann Mathieu with worse ball skills but a much tougher player and better in run support. Joyner is undersized but has been a great player since high school.

Billy Turner (OT/OG, North Dakota State) - I much prefer the option of Billy Turner in round 2 over Zack Martin in round 3... He also can play both OT and OG but you get better value with him in the 2nd than Martin in the 1st.. He plays with great power and could step in immediately at guard and transition to RT when we are through with Free.

Round 3:

Will Sutton (DT, Arizona State) - Similar to Marqise Lee I think Sutton's poor 2013 college campaign has him pushed below players he is much better than.. Under Marinelli and with a NFL strength and conditioning program I think Sutton could flourish with the Cowboys. In the 3rd round he is the best DL left by far IMO

Gabe Jackson (OG, Mississippi State) - Loved watching him play but originally thought he wouldn't be a fit for the cowboys because he is more of a power man scheme type of player but the Cowboys brought him in so I have hope.. Jackson should be able to be an immediate starter at OG for the Cowboys.

Telvin Smith (OLB, Florida State) - One of my favorite players in the entire draft..Plays with so much aggression and passion which the Cowboys desperately need. He is a tone setter for his entire defense and lays it out on the line every single play. He is a later round alternative to Shazier.. I think he would start at WLB on day one allowing Bruce Carter to shift over to the strong side.

Round 4:

Bashaud Breeland (CB, Clemson) - Big rangy CB with very impressive ball skills..Will attack the ball at the highest point. I think he fits the scheme well and can create turnovers. It's about time the Cowboys have a CB on the roster who will attack the ball aggressively in the air.

Trai Turner (OG, LSU) - Another guard option who the Cowboys have expressed interest in. Turner is only a redshirt sophomore and has potential through the roof.

Josh Huff (WR, Oregon) - Another one of my favorite players in this draft. Huff is a former RB who runs like it after the catch.. Huff can play on the outside and in the slot and would come in immediately either as the #2 or #3.. He is very competitive and runs superb routes and has consistent strong hands.

Round 5:

Walt Aikens (CB, Liberty) - Fiesty and aggressive small school CB who had some off the field issues but the Cowboys have expressed interest. When I watched his cut ups I saw a guy who is extremely competitive..He will come up and hit you in run support as well..Has all the athleticism to be successful. Saw him knock an OT's helmet off.

Ken Bishop (DT, Northern Illinois) - Many people considered him the best player in his conference. Bishop could be a late round steal that slipped through the cracks..When you have a coach like Marinelli who has gotten the best out of D Lineman adding guys like Bishop is great because he has a lot of traits to be great.

Jerick Mckinnon (RB, Georgia Southern) - Cowboys have expressed a lot of interest in him..Could be an interesting guy to bring in in the later rounds..Really love Dunbar but his injury history makes me want to add another shifty back to the mix.

Round 6: (Assuming Cowboys Obtain a 6th)

Howard Jones (OLB/DE, Shepherd) - Another guy the Cowboys love who has traits to be very successful which is all your looking for this late in the draft.

JC Copeland (FB, LSU) - Cowboys don't value the FB position and neither did the Lions under Linehan but Copeland is an excellent short yardage back and was a former DL so who knows what the Cowboys could have planned for him.

Jonathan Dowling (S, Western Kentucky) - One of my favorite players in the draft.. Was highly recruited out of HS and went to Florida but left the team because of multiple off the field issues and disputes with coaches.. Has insanely good range and ball skills.

Round 7:

Kerry Hyder (DT, Texas Tech) - Late round DT with some traits that could be coached up.

Chris Whaley (DT, Texas) - Another guy with some traits.. Has been compared to Henry Melton due to also being a RB Convert out of Texas.

Nukeese Richardson (WR, Pikeville) - HUUUUUGE character concerns and could easily go undrafted but is a special talent in my opinion.. Was one of the top WR recruits a few years back and went to Tennessee before being arrested on armed robbery charges.. Has since bounced around but he is entering the draft this year. Is a great return man and has incredible speed and agility coupled with the ability to make some spectacular catches.. In the late part of the 7th round he is worth a try rather than throw away picks like Caleb Mcsurdy.

In conclusion the pattern of my list is a lot of guys that play with a swagger and nastiness.. The Cowboys (Especially the defense) has suffered in my opinion from having a collection of sweethearts. It's about time the Cowboys got some guys on the defensive side of the ball that play with aggression and passion.

Thanks for all of that work.

If Clowney some fell to Oakland at 5, your offer may be enough. Still, I get queasy trading away future 1st rounders.

I like pretty much all of you players, though maybe not as aggressively as you.

Good stuff though

Wish draft day would just get here already.

I could see that happening but he gets nicked up a little too much for me, usually hurt in college equals more hurt in the NFL.

Might be there a little later.

Jerick Mckinnon (RB, Georgia Southern) - Cowboys have expressed a lot of interest in him..Could be an interesting guy to bring in in the later rounds..Really love Dunbar but his injury history makes me want to add another shifty back to the mix.

One of the most intriguing players in the draft IMO.

A lot of good players.

I would go with Zach Kerr over Hyder and Whaley.

I don't know if Copeland would get enough snaps to make it worth a draft pick or roster spots. I could see a guy like Millard being much more versatile and getting a lot more snaps due to his excellent pass receiving skills.

Keep in mind that bringing players in for a visit could result in them deciding that they don't like the player after a closer inspection.

Here is my hypothetical trade to get Clowney.......

Houston doesn't wanna drop out of the top 5 But are desperate to trade down....so Dallas has got to get the Oakland pick. Last year Oakland traded down w/ Miami. No. 3: Oakland → Miami (D). Oakland traded this selection to Miami in exchange for Miami's 2013 first-round selection (12th) and second-round selection (42nd)

So your giving up your 1st and 2nd.....

Then to get the deal done w/ Houston.....you offer the 1/5 and a 3rd in 2014....And your 1st in 2015.

I think the deal gets done:)......And won't be shocked if this happens. I've always thought letting Ware go was part of the plan to clear cap space for this deal. Letting Ware go for nothing has never made any sense to me...unless this deal gets done. Then it will all make sense.;)

So at the end of the day, we lose our 2nd and 3rd this year and 1st next year for Clowney? I wouldn't do it.

Like the players you listed. If at 16, I would take martin or shazier.

Wasn't he the one involved with Janzen Jackson? Is he even draft eligible?

I get what you are stating about the 7th round, but it would be easier to simply allow him to be an undrafted free agent and see first of all if Dooley is comfortable. There have been a few of these ex-Volunteers (Da'Rick Rogers for example) that we did not bother with.

No way we give I give up our 2 & 3 this year plus next years first for anyone that isnt a franchise QB. Clowney isnt worth it. We are not 1 defensive player from being in the SB. We need all those picks. Next years first could be top 5 easily with our schedule especially if Romo has continuing back problems. We are rebuilding not SB contenders sorry. We need like SIX guys on defense right now to be a top defense not one DE.

No he's not.....It's Zack Martin.....then Trai Turner LSU
Martin is getting more consideration as a tackle than people think. To me, it is a toss up between Su'a-Filo and Jackson. Jackson is a stronger bigger player, but Su'a-Filo has some tackle traits. Depends on what you are looking for. To me, Turner is a small step below them, along with players like Billy Turner (if converted inside) and Dakota Dozier.

When it's all said and done...I won't be shocked to see Turner as the best G out of this class. The highlights of his run blocking are outstanding. The only negative I've heard about him is some of the coaches @ LSU said he was lazy. I don't see that on tape so it's hard to say.

He's not on the level of Jackson and won't be taken ahead of him either.

Martin is a T/G. I said pure G.

He's the best pure G in this draft, IMO.

Glad you posted your opinion on him, because I have seen clips and heard discussions about him, but I have not had much time to really see what a lot of these guys are about this offseason. So, since you are always very well informed in your assessments I ask the question; What sets him apart as the best Guard in your opinion?

It close between Turner and Jackson, IMO.

Even if you consider Jackson better, he is a rSr and Turner is a rSo. If you compare Jackson's rJr game footage to Turner's rSo game footage, Turner is better. If you compare Jackson's rSo game footage to Turner's rSo game footage which would be an apple-to-apples comparison, Turner is unquestionably better.

He's the best inline blocker. A nasty road grader who moves better than people give him credit for.

Now if you consider Martin a G you could say he's better but I would take Jackson over Su'a-Filo, Yankey or Turner.

To be honest, I wouldn't even have Turner in that tier.
