Right, so an awful lot of you have seen that I would like to see Garrett sacked as head coach of this team. Seemingly lovely chap and all, but I think that time has come. However, in order to sack someone, you must have a replacement in mind, or, in my case, 5. So, who all would I like? Well, I shall try to keep it reasonable because, let's face it, we're probably not getting Coach Belichick. I'm going to go outside the organization for the most part.
1. My top pick would probably be Mike Shanahan. Yes, I know, he's been away from coaching for a while, but I think that the WCO is a very good system. I also happen to think that the WCO fits our offence really well if it were to be tried. Mike Shanahan is a staunch WCO-style coach. Obviously, the big question is, would he work for Jerry? Then again, he did work for Snyder, so it's possible.
2. David Shaw - Let's look into the college levels and use a chap that has done very well in succeeding a WCO-style coach in Jim Harbaugh. His record is 75-22, and he's got a good Bowl Game record. He's another offencive minded coach, and he seems to use a version of the WCO, which I like.
3. Gary Patterson - Let's stay within the backyard of the Cowboys, and let's go with this chap. He's heavily underrated, and I think it's high time that he gets a title that's fitting for how well he's done at the college level. Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys. I think his record speaks for itself. Plus, he's defencive minded which I also wouldn't mind. I'd let him choose his OC, of course, but hopefully it'd be a WCO-style coach. Plus, with our defence starting to turn a corner, a defencive minded HC might be what it needs. Maybe he can talk Norv Turner into returning as OC for us?
4. Chris Peterson - Come now, did you really think I'd pile a list of this without mentioning this chap? This chap did very well as the coach of Boise State (which is a bit of a Cowboys pipeline, isn't it?). Also, he's done very well with Washington piling up a record of 38-18 overall. Rather impressive, isn't it? This would be a chap I'd probably have top of the list but for the other three chaps of course.
5. Now for a name you lot probably haven't heard of, but one that I've come to like the look of. That chap would be Troy Calhoun. He's currently the HC of Air Force. Here's his link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troy_Calhoun. He's got a record of 83-61 while coaching at Air Force, where he's been since 2007. He doesn' get a lot of recognition, but he does well for being at a military school. I think he could bring some much needed discipline to this team, as well as using the WCO mentality that he learned from Mike Shanahan.
Bonus:
6. Mike Smith - Yes, yes, I know he looks like Steve Martin. However, I think he's got a very good track-record of being a defencive minded DC. Again, similar to Patterson, we could certainly use a defencive-minded DC to help get our defence to the next level. Additionally, I would hope that he would bring a WCO-minded OC.
What do you lot think? Any of these of interest to you? Anyone else that you'd like to add to the list? I look forward to what you all have to say.
