A fact most overlook.

Last year, he missed 4 games and then wallowed in sloth for about 8-10 games before he started to come around down the stretch.

He only gets 6 regular season games this year and showed up to the offseason program in his worst shape yet. At his age with his apparent work ethic, I just don't see the return. At least if you can him you can send a psychological message to your team.

I just don't see the upside. He might be ready to play by the time the Super Bowl comes around.

The level of play he brought to the game last year was not a top level.
I would rather someone else be out there.

you might as well release most of the team with that logic .....imo

How many players where at top level last year?

I've got to admit I just don't buy into the 'MESSAGE' stuff. The point of the job is to win games. You help the team win and they think you're an asset, you get to keep playing. If they don't need you then it's goodbye. That to me is the message.

I agree. McClain's problem is that he's smoked himself off the field. He had potential to be great. The 10 game suspension means he's failed on his potential. You move on because he doesnt want to be here and not because of any message it would send to anybody else.

I really wanted Rolando McClain to soar to new heights with this team. It seemed like a brilliant move at first. He did a great job filling in for the injured Sean Lee in 2014. Since then, however, he just keeps doing crap that hurts the team. Plus, he didn't play all that great last season anyway. Time to cut his sorry ***. We would be better off finding the best LB we can afford on the free market. Don't wait the 10 weeks for him, only to get an out-of-shape McClain for the final 6 games. Cut him now. Then if some other team signs him, they have to wait out the 10 week suspension. If we cut him now and he's sitting out, none of those games count toward his suspension. They don't start counting until a new team signs him, if anyone is willing to take the risk. Let this bozo be someone else's problem.

That's the problem. RoMac wanted to reach new "highs" himself. get it, highs, alright. I'll be here all week folks. tip your waitress.
