Speaking of the Pats... How in the world are so many people picking the Chargers over them for the Super Bowl? The Chargers play in a sorry division and that should get them several easy wins a year, but that doesn't make them the best in the conference. Especially over New England. I truly don't get that.
Maybe Jimmy is just pimping them because Norv is their coach. But lots of other people are picking SD for the Super Bowl, too.
The Chargers are the sexy pick this year. In fact, they were the sexy pick last year, too (I remember many predicting a Dallas/San Diego Super Bowl). Something funny happened along the way. The Chargers limped into the playoffs despite playing in the weakest division in the league, and the only team to enter the playoffs with a non-winning record, and all of a sudden they are Super Bowl contenders for the 2009 season.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys (who finished with a better regular season record despite playing in the toughest division in football) have a quiet off-season, get healthy, address a glaring suck-hole at the safety position, and put an emphasis on spreading the ball around to a solid group of core playmakers, while also fielding the the best defensive player in the league and upgrading the spot left vacant by Zach Thomas are supposedly going to be lucky to eke out 9 wins. Riiight. Gotcha!
I'm with Hos, and many others on this board. Overlook us. Please overlook us. I'll feel pretty damn strongly that the majority of these "experts" calling for the demise of the Cowboys will be singing a completely different tune, come January.
