Jack's game tape is insane, his floor (if healthy) to me is Sean Lee. The fact that Dallas hasn't brought him in for a visit is very concerning to me, but I really hope they take a long look at him at #4. If his health checks out then you're looking at a defensive playmaker for the next decade. That would be a great pick short term and long term. I'm surprised more CZ'ers are not fond of Jack as our pick.

We just know he more than likely won't be the pick

just inherently because of position alone, i really don't like taking a S or LB with the number four pick of the draft. That said, if we don't get one of the top two QBs and aren't interested in trading back for Zeke, Jack is probably the best pick we could make there. I don't like Bosa much and hate Buckner. I like Jack better than Ramsey because I think Ramsey has been a bit over hyped, 3x career INTs as a DB, Jack at LB has 4 and missed last season. Not that I hate Ramsey, just that I feel more confident that Jack is going to be a major impact pro while I THINK Ramsey will be a good pro but not as certain about it as I am Jack, pending he checks out medically. Jack is a freak and it showed on tape, Ramsey may be a freak but I didn't see it pop out as much as Jack's tape.

The fact they did not bring him in should concern you.

In fact, it should all but kill the dream of it happening.

Part of the extra reason "official" visits are important is that you can do medicals. You cannot do that during a campus work out/private visit.

There is no way on earth I take an injured player who I did not get an opportunity to medically check out personally.

He is not going to suddenly get better at the Combine re-check, nor will there be the chance to get as much detail as you could during an official visit.

To put it in comparison, S Karl Joseph got an invite and he will not be able to even run any time soon. Why? To get a close look at from a medical perspective.

There's plenty of CZers that have stated they want Jack at #4 and plenty of mock drafters mocking Jack to Dallas. Why Dallas hasn't even brought him in for a visit? Who knows.

He wasn't brought in because he hasn't had a recheck on his knee yet. Right now, I'm leaning towards Bosa being our pick if Ramsey doesn't fall to us. Jack is still in play. It won't be tough to get an idea of his character, just talk to his coach who holds him in high regard. His tape speaks enough on his ability, right now, it's all about how his knee is after medical recheck.

Jack will be a draft day slider.

Just can't draft a guy that high when you don't know enough about the injury

Neither were coming off and injury or dodging running a simple 40.

The first check on his knee was fine. "Dodging a simple 40" - When the hell has a 40 been simple? You are out of the game for 4 months, you have 2 shots at a good 40 time and a pro day. He didn't feel he was in peak position after a 4 month layoff.

And they very well could be holding onto an official visit in their back pocket just in case he gets cleared. If not, no reason to waste it.

Then compete. Show what you have.

"Dodging a simple 40" -

Yes. Dodging.

When the hell has a 40 been simple?

If you are some sort of athletic freak with ungodly speed, it is. Kolby Listenbee ran a 4.35 with a sports hernia.

You are out of the game for 4 months, you have 2 shots at a good 40 time and a pro day. He didn't feel he was in peak position after a 4 month layoff.

So if he ran a 4.6, would teams not be smart enough to realize it was the injury?

There is talk he won't run a 40 at all. So I do not get where you believe he is holding out for "peak condition" because that may not come until the summer. It just sounds like he is playing a bit with the scenario and hoping someone bites. Hard to down him if there is little pr no data to base it on.

According to his agent John Thornton, he went through a riskier type of procedure on his meniscus than what is normally done and that is causing this abnormally long "rehab" time. Could that lend itself to him trying to live off his athletic reputation versus reality for as long as possible? That is likely.

Wrong. A 4 month layoff could be one, mentally ready. Two, him not feeling he's physically fit. HE also may want to wait on a medical recheck to be cautious. There are numerous things that factor into this. I'm not here to debate with you on your pseudo-medical babble. His first medical check, his knee was looking fine. Myles Jack is going to be a top 10 pick, no matter what. A bad 40 that really isn't an indicator to his true speed is not going to help him, all it can do is hurt him.

I agree with you that it is concerning. I don't believe the treatment he had was "riskier", have read a lot more about it. Basically they were able to save the meniscus and repair it rather than just snip it off. When you trim the meniscus it can literally be a couple weak recovery but you lose the the meniscus...the cushion between the bones in your knee joint. Being able to stitch the meniscus allows you to keep the meniscus, it's just a long recovery time. For an athlete, this is the best long term solution.

Like you I wouldn't touch him till they got to look at the knee directly.

By "riskier" I mean in terms of recovery time. It is not like he had a secret microfracture surgery.

Or---did he?

For linebacker, why not just take Notre Dame's linebacker in the 3rd round, and just let him rehab properly for his first year?
