Jack can play Strong Safety but he will be going higher than a SS normally does in the draft. LB's are worth more than SS's. If you draft him to play SS you are probably paying too high of a price for a SS but if he ends up being a really good one it is worth it. Noone wants to improve the secondary more than me.

Su'a Cravens is another LB that could play SS. This draft has some really strong SS possibilities but they are all likely gone before the 3rd Rd.

I was blown away by his athleticism. Hed be worth it. Middle of the field would be a no fly zone. I havent seen the other guys mentioned though.

To be honest, I watched some clips of him at lb and he looks weak at the POA.

I completely agree with you. I don't think he is near as talented as people think, and nowhere near as talented as Jaylon Smith. If we took him at 4.....I would shed a tear.

Miles Jack is not going to play SS in the NFL. That is absolute lunacy. You'd be taking away half of what makes him such a dynamic player. He's also not a good fit in the middle of a 4-3, he would have to take on too many blocks. He would play essentially the same role in this defense that Sean Lee does and, aside from injury concerns, I don't think he'd be an upgrade. He is intriguing because of his athleticism and build and I wouldn't raise hell if the Cowboys drafted him, he is going to asked to play out of position though pretty much from day one. I absolutely would NOT take him at 4 either.

I have three players that I think would be dynamic fit for Dallas...Jack is one of them. Here are other three:

1. Ramsey
2. Jack
3. Treadwell

LBers that can cover like Jack are too rare. I'm sure he could do it but SS is rarely important enough to fill with more than just solid players. We'd be screwing up our roster/cap strategy taking a SS as an early first rounder.

No. Just no.

I love Myles Jack. My issue is he will get higher in this draft then I would want to take him. The other problem is his best position is also Sean Lee's best position. Too many holes on this team for the team to try to fit a square peg into a round hole.

I like him with our 3rd round pick if we miss out on Cravens, Cash, Bell, and Kearse with our 2nd.

he is a baller.
You wouldn't be biased toward WVU players, would you, Mountaineerfan? :)

Maybe a little but the kid can flat out play. Check him out he's not bad at all. Rehabbing an acl so I'm not sure where he falls in draft. The kid just had a knack for making plays.

Didn't we move Lee to wlb to save his body? Jack looks smaller than Lee. I dont get it. Urlacher was huge.

Urlacher was a freak of nature.

I wouldn't doubt if Damien Wilson becomes the starter at the MIKE. I think the MIKE position has changed a bit for Marinelli. I think he wants a more physical MIKE to allow Lee to roam free rather than a speedy MIKE that can drop back deep in coverage. We really don't run a Cover-2 or Tampa 2 anymore and that responsibility just isn't there anymore. I think Marinelli would love to run more zone, but would go to a Cover 3 based on the amount of Cover 3 we played in 2014.

So the MIKE still needs speed, but more physicality and watching Wilson in college he seemed like that type of player, although given that he barely played this year, he probably struggled heavily in coverage and picking up what offenses are trying to do.

What I've watched of Jack, I don't see a MIKE backer in him. He looks like a pure weakside backer to me. I don't see anything that resembles a SS that Marinelli would want either. He's more of a sideline to sideline player than a downhill player.

I still think its a mistake not drafting him as a safety. I think he can def play downhill and sideline to sideline. Wed be top 5 easily vs the run and hes just born playmaker as far as the passing game. Its move pats would make and then everybody would try to copy. I'll stay on my island. Lol

He was recently weighed in at 245, not playing S if drafted in Dallas.

It will be interesting to see the evaluations of Jack as we go forward in the draft process.

Some are saying he is the best defender in the draft, even better than Bosa.

Others have him going in the 10-15 range, his knee should be close to recovered by the combine though he may not be 100%.

He definitely can play the run and cover, so the injury recovery will be critical.

would you have taken Gurley last year if he fell to the Cowboys spot?

That late in the draft, it is definitely more of an option with a once in a generation player. Myles is not a once in a generation player and this is much earlier so neither of those factors are true here.

the comment from the poster was that they would not take a player in the 1st round coming off a knee injury. I did not say what position would you take Myles, but I guess it could be assumed it was the 4th.

my question was would they take Gurley in the 1st? if so why not Jack? Jack's knee injury was not a blown ACL like Gurley's. So the question is would you take Jack in the 1st period regardless of position?

I think Jack has a much of a chance of being a great LB as Gurley does of being a great LB.

I see what you mean. Jack looks great on film.

I guess the simplest answer is no based on the value of the position, health of the player and availability and the prospect that they can play at an elite level for a decade.

Jack said he wouldn't mind being a safety in the mold of Seattle's Kam Chancellor, among his favorite NFL players. He kept close tabs on Chancellor in his early years with the Seahawks, back when Jack played at neighboring Bellevue High. Once, the two had a chance meeting.

I think hed be the best strong safety in the nfl immediately. Thoughts? And hes played the position before.

current NFL trends would say the opposite. teams are drafting strong safeties and moving them to WLB so I doubt going against the grain would be beneficial.

As high up as he will be taken, and the need for quality linebackers in the NFL, he won't be a safety.

Does conjure up memories of Woodson although.

Seattle and Denver both have traditional strong safeties. I'll keep hoping until I see otherwise. You guys are probably right but I dont care if he is lb, I just want him
