Seems this is one name that is never discussed in the draft forum.
Pros?
Cons?

What is the overall consensus on this kid?

I know he also played some RB. Can that versatility of playing both sides of the ball make him more draftable?

The only con that I can think of is that he is coming off a torn acl but that he is ahead of his rehab schedule.

He's been talked about quite a bit here actually. He's a flat out beast. Keuchly like talent. Can cover as good as any LB I've watched and strong at the POA. There's not really any cons to his game. Top 10 talent for sure and I think he's probably going to be at the top of the wishlist for the Cowboys on draft day. Right now if I had to give a short list of who I think they draft, it would be Ramsey, Hargreaves or Jack.

I agree about his talent and the injury is tasked at 4 months recovery time. He will be doubtful at the combine IMO with that time frame. You know the cowboys injured linebackers are always taken in the second round. I think Myles Jack could play SS with his size and talent for covering.IMO

I can't see the Cowboys taking Jack over Smith if they go LB. Smith is longer, more versatile and isn't coming off an ACL injury.

Myles Jack is a better version of the 2 players (Ryan Shazier and Shaq Thompson) we tried to draft in the last 2 drafts.

He was probably my favorite player in this draft going into the year.

My issues are:
  • I don't want to draft him at where he is projected to go (top 8). Shazier was the 15th pick in 2014, and Shaq was the 25th player taken last year
  • His best NFL position will be WILL. Sean Lee's best position is WILL. Although Jack is good enough to line up all over the place, he is only 6'1" and 225 lbs. The good news would be he and Lee would play the LB spots on passing downs instead of Barry Church; less Barry Church is always a good thing.

Jaylon is more suited to play MIKE or SAM than Jack is.

Probably but he's probably more likely to be able to handle the WILL spot if he ended up there as opposed to Jack trying to work at MIKE or SAM..........as pointed out, you have Lee at WILL already and he's playing well.

If McClain comes back and you draft Smith, your LB group is Lee at WILL, McClain at Mike and Smith at SAM with Hitchens as a primary backup to possibly all three. That's quite a grouping. But even taking Jack would be a nice pick IMO.

I'Personally, I am hoping Nkemdiche or Ramsey is sitting there at our pick. I think I would prefer either over the two OLBs (Not that I don't like the two OLBs very much).

Now thats some forward thinking! Wouldn't mind that one single bit, with his movement skills!

I like this kid a lot. He is a day one starter. However, if it was my call I would go Jaylon Smith just because he has limitless potential and versatility. He can play every LB spot and put his hand on the ground in a pinch and rush.

I wouldn't raise any questions if we took Jack, depending on where we took him and who was on the board.

I suspect Smith will be ranked higher after the combine, especially if Jack doesn't make it. Id be fine with either.

Thats my dream pick for this team if theyre in the top 10. Guy is going to be a impact from day one. the most athletic guy in this draft.

Cons: still learning the posistion
Pros: everything else you can think of.

Agreed. I think Jack is almost exclusively a WILL, at least as this roster is built now. But who knows where Lee and RoMac will be next year.

The thing that wouldn't work is Lee - RoMac - Jack, so I'm hesitant to take him over Smith. But considering how unreliable RoMac has been and Lee's injury history, it's hard to pass on him because of that. Tough call between the two.

Why wouldnt he work as the sam? He is a more athletic version and alot better playmaker than Hitchens. He's not small in october he was listed at 245lbs. He played the run better than any college LBer in college. You can literally line Jack up at any of the LBer spots.
