Myles Jack

Why wouldnt he work as the sam? He is a more athletic version and alot better playmaker than Hitchens. He's not small in october he was listed at 245lbs. He played the run better than any college LBer in college. You can literally line Jack up at any of the LBer spots.
He could do it, I didn't mean that. But you don't take a guy in the top 10 to be a 4-3 SAM. I meant more that it doesn't work from a value standpoint, if that makes sense.

Why? is there a LBer draft guide?

Jack is a 3 down LBer. He would be in there with Lee on 3rd downs. And he could actually move outside to cover. Thats how UCLA uses him. And lastly who is to say Dallas will bring McClain back?

Would he be comparable to another UCLA linebacker Anthony Barr?

Not really. Barr was more of a pass rusher, Myles is a sideline to sideline player who's probably the best LB in the draft in pass defense.

i like Jack a lot, however there are a lot of guys I also like a lot early in round 1, however if we want to get back to winning immediately, drafting anyone besides Elliott in round 1 will delay that

Let's be real. Sean Lee's probably not going to be playing deep into his 30s. He hits 30 this summer. There may be good reasons to avoid drafting Jack, but having Sean Lee should not be among them.

Smith is a 3 down guy too, and has a bigger frame than Jack.

And in my original response I said that I don't know who will and won't be back next year. "As currently constructed" means assuming everyone is back. If someone's gone, then it's a different discussion altogether.

Bob McGinn, who talks a lot to scouts, had some info on Jack and Smith saying one scout said that Jack is definitely a WILL but could play inside in a 3-4.

Another scout said Jack is definitely a stud and he likes him better than Smith right now but that Smith is a better pass rusher, can cover and probably has a better potential than Jack. Said both are "slam dunks" as picks.

Honestly didn't like the Notre Dame dude that much. He seems incapable of getting off a block and not a great tackler.

Watching the Clemson tape and he's in the area a lot, but either someone else is making the tackle before he sheds the blocker or Clemson is running by him. Looks more athlete than football player. Better pro body than Jack, but not in Jack's league to me as a talent.
