Well let's see: pre-season games are generally played by a bunch of backups and waiver wire types, whereas reg season games are played by the best of the best. So, no, sucking in pre-season does not preordain doom.
Yea but it makes bad habits. I'm a firm believer in "practice how you play" and if you aren't practicing hard in preseason, you aren't going to in the regular season. I thought differently until the season ender against the Commanders 2 years ago about professional athletes.

Won't be fooled twice.

I am very glad to see Wade being proactive here...hopefully he backs it up and the players grow in their respect for him....hopefully...

If the offenders were starters or 2nd teamers I would make them play the whole game. If lower backups I wouldn't let them on the field. Go Mike Singletary on they butts.... ;)

See the preparation just isn't there!

Nah, but really Oakland is like the twisted underbelly of San Fran. They're so close together it can get confusing sometimes. When I was out there a couple summers ago my friends and I were just wandering around and didn't know we were going into Oakland till all the pot-smoking hippies were replaced by the crack-dealing gangsters.

Hmm, Galloway was saying yesterday that he saw Phillips giving an impassioned speech to the team, but he never heard anyone say what it was all about... Guess this was it.

Yeah, I heard Galloway talking about this too.

He was disappointed that nobody in the media asked Wade Phillips about the speech.

Personally, I like this. If they are being lazy, call them out on it.

No longer should players be sloths and get away with it without some form of repercussion.

It's the Raiders dude.

And the problem is that the Cowboys might one day say that about the Skins in midseason or late in the season.

Raiders or not, it's a step in the right direction. It's called holding the players accountable by calling them out in a somewhat subtle way. This type of reaction to the first game of the preseason is reminiscent of Bill Parcells.

Keep doing your job Wade. I like it!

I hate pre-season. :)

Let me know when the real games begin.

I actually like pre-season, for 2 main reasons:

1) It's NOT the off-season!!!

2) although not counted games, you are seeing players who are playing for their careers. I wish that the NFL had a slightly larger preseason roster, say 90, and allowed cuts after each game. I think you would see players scrapping to prove their worth to the team. Plus, for some players that will be on the team - back up qbs for example, it's the only time you get to see them in game situations.

I want to extend the hand of no-injuries wishes to your team. Regardless of the score, I hope your guys keep healthy.
