Scandrick confident, coachable

VENTURA, Calif. - Fifth-round draft pick Orlando Scandrick is loaded with confidence. That came through loud and clear Wednesday when I talked to him about the school record seven kicks he blocked in three seasons at Boise State.

"It's nothing special," said Scandrick, who blocked four last season to set the Broncos' single-season record. "I just get off (the snap). It's something I was born with, blessed with."

But didn't the scheme the Broncos used also play a part?

"There really was no scheme last year," Scandrick said. "It was, 'Orlando, go to the back and rush and force the kick.' That's pretty much what it was. Obviously, there was different ways we would line up at the front to create matchup problems so they couldn't double team. But it wasn't like I was just running scot free, looping around or anything."

So is the scheme the Cowboys use more complex?

"It's pretty much the same thing except you are running against bigger and faster guys," Scandrick said.

So far in camp, Scandrick has been up and down, which is to be expected of a kid who probably should have stayed in college another season. But the Cowboys love his attitude, intelligence and willingness to ask questions and then take the answers to heart.

32 very fast has a lot of ability just needs game time to build confidence. Once he gets some PT he will also be a top corner in the league.

Scandrick is a natural CB. Very fluid, from what I've seen... and everything out of camp points to him being a real find that late in the draft.

Nice job by the scouting dept.

What's up Abs. You changed your screen name?

Wade was talking about Scandrick when he jokingly made the comment about asking Newman if he knew who Wally Pip was. Obviously, they like him a lot.
