Very true. It should be clear very soon how much of a liability we were dealing with last year with Davis alongside Hamlin. I have read some reports about how that was causing him to do "too much" and resulted in fewer plays.
I can buy that. Davis was extremely limited in coverage and as a result, was kept closer to the LOS to avoid getting burned deep. I think this caused Hamlin to cover a wider field, not allow him to single in on his zone and make plays and also resulting in bad angles. Now in some cases, Hamlin just made some plain bad plays that are inexcusable.

I love our safety situation compared to last year.

Great to hear the news about Spencer also. We will be counting on him big time.

the cowboys wanted him in the draft, but jacksonville picked him right before us;

we picked a safety that was a hitter but he had a knee issue, and got hurt, didnt play again, justin beraiut something like that;

I can't bring myself to criticize Davis. I think he did the best he could with the tools he has. It looked to me like he played his heart out all the time, which is something we can't say about many Dallas defenders.

hmmmmmm if he was so talented, why did the jags let him go? i'm taking the "believe it when i see it" stance. still better than what we were starting.

So limited that we had to remove our best pass rusher, and assign him to cover Todd Heap.

That is how bad our terrible safeties impacted our defense in 2008.

I am hoping, soooo hoping that Michael Hamlin and Sensabaugh can fill that void. And I was against Hamlin in the draft, but I have heard nothing but good things so far.

This is why:

The Jaguars liked his ability but had questions about his ability to stay out of trouble.

Off-the-field issues have been a problem for Sensabaugh, who was arrested as recently as February for driving with a suspended license. He previously was charged for carrying a gun without a license and also for riding his motorcycle dangerously.

I stole an idea for a great Sensabaugh nickname off a Jaguars board right after we signed him...

Sensabomb.

Perfect. :)

Michael Hamlin was a steal in the 5th. I like what I'm hearing but I'm reserved about MH. If he plays like he did as a junior in college we'll like him. If like his senior year not as much. But he was supposed to be a 2nd or 3rd rounder. It was a good pick where he went.

I hope Gerald works out long term then groom the young lads behind him and use them on ST and in certain packages, unless of course they turn out to be better than him before too long.

Only bad thing is he is going to want a big contract.

He wanted a one year deal so he could look for a big payday next year.

I would like to believe Spencer, but something tells me it's not over...he's just a kid who hangs out with the wrong people, gee like that doesn't happen to every NFL team.

Super early to be getting excited about these "sensational" reports, but I am anyways...I'm crossing my fingers about Sensabaugh.

I agree with this. Color me "cynical" about any report form the OTA's. The NFL Total Access crew was very underwhelmed with the Cowboys tonight.
