MySA: Live Practice Updates: Day 2

I've never seen such a phsyical specimen at offensive line in person like Barron. He looks like he could play tight end. The arms hang down almost to his knees. I could see how any offensive line coach would fall in love with him as a personal project, teased by what he could do with that kind of physical specimen.

I'm guessing the losing culture of the Rams rubbed off on him. Somebody compared his stats to Flo's last year (sacks, hits, pressures) and they were almost identical.

lol @ Roy. I don't get why Witten false starts so much. Maybe he's just trying to get a good jump to make up for his lack of speed and agility. He's gotta cut that out though.

He was an enigma and a tease coming out of college too. He had top 5 draft pick talent and fell into the late teens for a reason. Hopefully he has some lightbulb moment here, but I personally don't really buy into the Rams excuse.

Honestly, I think there's a bit of paralysis by analysis going on. It's been only two practices and I've read some good things about Roy in those practices.

Doesn't seem like Roy really had that bad a practice yesterday and today. It's just that with the excitement of Dez and people's overall disappointment in him, there's nothing he can do right, right now.

Think about it. In this same blog entry, there's a note about Witten being pulled for false starting. That's just as aggravating to me as a Roy drop, because pre-snap penalties are the kinda things that can kill a drive. Nobody points that out, but it's quite annoying that an all-pro like Witten does it so much. And I don't mean FS, just his pre-snap penalties in general.

This is so true. It's only the second practice of the season!

Furthermore, as you well know, four different bloggers can give you four completely different perspectives on practice, and depending on whom you read, you can walk away with completely different and even contradictory impressions of what happened during a session.

Bruce Campbell looks more like a TE than Barron.

Doubtful he's trying to get any sort of jump.

Barron definitely looks skinny compared to the other OL's. He carries that 315 lbs. very well. I'll be interested to see how he looks next to Bennett when he gets back.

make sure to have an injury stipulation

I'm not gonna bet him. That's why the smilie was in there. Still laughing at his last bet.

Wait, he dropped a pass in practice? Oh, the humanity!

yep , and was dropping balls and running poor routes in 2008, and in training camp in 2009, and in pre season 2009, and in the regular season 2009, and now in training camp 2010....let us know when its ok to worry about him.......

Besides Dez, it seems to be a pretty sloppy practice. Too many false starts, dropped passes and poorly thrown balls from what i'm reading. (yeah I know its early).

There was one sequence that was very sloppy where they couldn't get the play off on three consecutive snaps. On the other hand, the offense did a better job today making plays down the field and not turning the ball over.

Oh, F.Y.I. it wouldn't shock me if Barron is starting either.

I don't recall ever hearing much in preseason last year that there any issues. I do recall that later in the season last year there was some untimely drops. Early season all I remember is ALOT of passes either low or high.

And if my memory serves, he also caught the most red zone TD's on the team last year. But no one gives him any credit for that

Jerry over paid for a solid receiver. I stopped comparing him to his contract.

I don't think Roy's a superstar receiver. So, if he catches 40 or so passes and scores 7 TD's again, I would call it a good enough season for him (well, as long as everyone else is productive).

Thank you for the display of sanity and common sense...both of which seem to be scarce commodities for most people where RW11 is concerned.

:D ;)

Let the best man win! Maybe Barron knew he had no competition behind him and knew he could play subpar and still keep his position. Playing on a garbage team for the last 3 years doesn't help much either.Maybe a little kick in the pants will motivate him. He's got freakish measurables.

Not to mention a majority of Steven Jackson's yardage came from Barrons side.
