Lol. Evans vs Wright is the matchup that will make you turn the TV off at the end of the 3rd.

Wright was awful in preseason and they didn’t address it, we’re getting what we deserve.

It says a lot about what they think of Wright when Rhodes might actually start

Who ever plays Evans needs some help
Wright all day might makes sense because that leaves Diggs on an easier guy and shouldn’t need help so easier to help Wright. I’d help him over the top and have him banging on evans all day. Evans gets a bit frustrated when guys get physical with him lol
Exactly!

It is not uncommon for defenses to use double (bracket) coverage with the #2 outside CB and FS on a #1 WR with the #CB on the #2 WR.

We don't really know how Mike Evans plays vs 6-4 CBs with large wingspans because there are a very small number of those types of CBs in the league.

I just knew when I saw your post it would say this.

Just like your Josh ball hype, wright shutting down Evans and his 9 1k yard seasons 9 years will not happen.

If Wright is a starter you shift coverage to his side and take your chances with Diggs shutting down his guy on his own.
:hammer:.....I swear X Walker just loves to spread disinformation.

Evans might be the best type of WR for Wright to cover.

Evans wins with size/length.
- He has not faced many CBs with the length of Wright.

Obviously Evans outweighs Wright significantly but they have similar speed and similar limitations in short area quickness.
Ya i think Diggs and Evans match up well with Evans...at least as well as you can.

That is a tough match-up for the Cowboys any way you want to look at if. I think Diggs has the athletic ability to cover Evans, but is Diggs physical enough to re-route and effect timing between Evans and Brady?

This is spot on. It’s the shifty speedsters that kill NW. Evans is great but he is a long strider power guy. Wright is best equipped to handle that type of player.

Diggs is my guy but he's going to have to do more than just cover this Monday. Tampa ran mostly at him the first game and Diggs didn't shut down the edge. he's got to do better at run support. Defensive ends have to do it even more. Micah needs to stop rushing inside-keep your gap integrity. If you gonna blitz?? Blitz Brady up the middle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They'll scheme him open though. The Brady and Evans long-bomb up the right sideline has been a constant highlight this year and it just so happens to be a Cowboys constant low-light this year. I expect them to do this whenever their running back gets winded from those long runs, lol. Really I think our only hope is if the offense shows up and puts up 40 pts.

Mike Evans

........a nine year veteran, a thousand yard receiver every season he has been in the league

........completely in sync with the best quarterback in NFL history

........the best match for Wright?

Evans will turn Wright inside out. Long after the game is over, Brady will still be inside Wright's head. This is where Brady will attack, make no mistake about that.

Wright/Evans is the nightmare matchup.

The Cowboys have to dedicate a safety to help Wright. In addition, the Cowboys pass rushers must get to Brady often. They must harass Brady and put more pressure on him than they have on any other quarterback this season. They must play their most dominant game, a "signature" game.

The Bucs will come out of the gates firing deep. Wright can't stop it. Hopefully the Cowboys can do just enough to survive it.

Go watch the videos of the 3 bombs Evans caught against the Panthers. Look at the DB chasing him and who does he remind you of physically? He's tall and lanky and a tab slower than Evans. To me that is Nahshon Wright in a Panthers uniform.

Of course I am only half joking but only half. If Evans pulls a move on Wright I expect he picks up a couple of yards in separation on the break and Wright will not catch up. Hopefully the Cowboys will roll coverage to his side. Also Hopefully, Digg is not gambling again.

Bland needs to cover Godwin IMO. He’s really the go to guy

Diggs has had success against him in the past, but you can rest assure, they will scheme ways to get Wright in single coverage against him.

Diggs has erased evans for the most part. You want to put Wright on him? Lol

CJ Henderson is of similar size to DIggs, probably even faster. He just can't cover.

I have no issue putting Wright on Evans. I'm expecting a lot of 2 deep looks, and the Cowboys counting on their front to handle a bad TB run game on their own.

I think you put Wright on Evans and make sure a safety is dedicated to that side of the field on 80% of snaps.

I can even see the Cowboys playing some combo coverages and may even see DQ go back to some of his Seattle coverage schemes. Kind of like what we saw with Kris Richard a few years back where CB was really a simplified position. Cover 3 esque style where your outside CBs basically played the outside and vertical routes, pass off to LBs on inside/crossing stuff. A guy like Wright who has both height and speed should be able to handle that. He is far from a great CB, but he's toolsy.

This is probably the piece of the game i'm most excited to see what the Cowboys have in mind....of course if the pass rush can consistently get home I'm not sure there is a wrong answer to how they approach the secondary.

Yes, CJ Henderson just doesn't know how to play. He is 6-1 and ran a 4.39 forty prior to the 2020 draft.

Evans ran a 4.53 forty prior to the 2014 draft.

Wright is the opposite.
- Smarter than Henderson but not as athletic.

Diggs succeeds due to a high football IQ and elite ball skills and mastery of techniques.
- Quinn has designed the coverage scheme around Diggs.
- We saw in camp that Diggs in 1-on-1 drills with no ability to use his football iq and scheme was beaten by some average WRs.
-Richard Sherman was similar in that regard.
- There really haven't been that many Deion/Revis type CBs that can just line up and shutdown WRs regardless of scheme or surrounding defensive players.
