NEW YORK -- Denver Broncos center Tom Nalen has been fined $25,000 by the NFL for a cut block on San Diego's Igor Olshansky in the final minute of the Sunday night's loss to the San Diego Chargers.

Olshansky, who threw a punch and was penalized and ejected from the game, was fined $10,000.

The Broncos have long been criticized by coaches and players from other teams for their system of cut blocking. It is an annual subject at the league meetings and the rules have been modified to penalize certain cut blocks.

Its about time they fined a Bronco Olinemen for his dirty tactics, that was ridicilous.

I was pissed when Marty was going off on his player.

He shouldn't have punched him but I cant say it wasn't deserved.

They still should have fined Olshansky the same amount, if not more.

He still threw the punches.

I doubt Shottenheimer saw Nalen's initial dive into Olshansky's knees, only his players reaction. Hence his response to his player on the sidelines. The 15 yard penalty would have been devestating had the Broncos scored.

I'm sure that once Marty saw the play on film, he completely understood why Olshansky did what he did, even if he did go overboard.

$25K is pocket change to these guys. But hopefully it is enough to make a statement.

What happened to the guy who took out the Jacksonville defensive player way away from the play?

holy crap you are way off, a guy throwing punches to a guys helmet covered head is not the same thing as the denver prick trying to take his knees out. That coulda ended igor's career.

So you think throwing a punch at someone in the back of the head with a helmet on, which can do no damage, is the same as someone taking a shot at a knee that has no protection?

I don't think so.
