Many of our members believe the Cowboy O-line is still a weakness. Or one that needs more in the way of "upgrading".

Honestly I can't see it. When I look around the NFL I think this O-line as it's currently structured compares favorable with any in the NFL.

I would be curious as to what O-lines our members think are better than the Dallas O-line. You can choose as many of the teams listed below as you wish or you can just choose "The Cowboys have the best O-line in the NFL" option and leave it at that.

If you could post some justification for how you chose that would be great too.

Eagles, Indy, Denver, San Diego, Cincinatti.

Justification: Their run-blocking and pass-blocking ability. ;)

The only line I can see that is better is Philly's.

Washington, Cincy, San Diego all took major hits in free agency.

I don't think the Giants O-line is that good.

Two years ago they did.

I think Denver has without question the best line in the league, but they're not even on the list. They're #2 in rushing YPA and they're #3 in sacks allowed.

You are missing Denver and possibly Atlanta. I voted for Philly, Indy, NE & San Diego.

Anyone who thinks Davis instantly puts us at top is ridiculous.

I say Philly....since I'm mainly concerned with the teams in our division.

We may have closed the gap a bit we will see.

Yeah, I think Denver should have been added.

My point in all this was to see how many folks that believe the o-line sucks would "check" all the teams on the list-- so far that hasn't happened. It appears that the Dallas O-line is more well thought of than what a few fans would lead you to believe.

I don't think it sucks. I didn't think it sucked last year. One of the things I have clamored for since Parcells started here is a true OC that I trusted. Last year I think we had talent & consistency on the OL, but I think there are coaching issues. Not on the line, Sparano seems pretty good, but with coordination overall - I don't like our playbook/playcalling.

Not that I don't think we have weaknesses. We aren't the worst, but even last season I would have called us top 15 or so. They were made to look worse by our playbook & playcalling & statue QB for a while.

And I will never be satisfied with Dallas' OL philosophy. I prefer smaller more mobile blocking with athletes, not huge powerlifting behemoths.

I think Gurode and Flozell consistently whiffing and Rivera getting pushed back 5 yards had little to do with the playbook/playcalling.

Excuse me if I refuse to listen to a guy about the OL who doesn't recognize that Al Johnson consistently got pushed back.

I never said that they didn't whiff. I said that there were other issues. When it's obvious you are passing, it doesn't make it hard for the defense to be prepared.

Oh, please. I've simply argued that I don't think he was pushed back as much as people claim. What does that have to do with noticing that Gurode often looks lost, Flozell is unable to keep up with outside speed rushers, and Rivera is consistently over-powered?

Oh, and how about that avatar bet that we wouldn't sign one of Steinbach, Dielman, or Davis? ;)

Gurode is fine, Flozell has issues, but they are overblown & Rivera isn't very good (we agree on that one). But our play book is crap, I get the feeling that the line calls are as archaic as the WR routes, and the line can't move side to side. Coaching will help.

And the terms of the bet were never laid out, and even though I didn't consider Davis a 'big FA' before hand, I guess the market disagrees considering his contract. And it wasn't a sig, I think it was an AV.

But feel considering it was my thread and we signed Davis, feel free to provide an AV or a sig and I will use it for 2-3 weeks, until I get tired of it.:D

That same playbook produced 26 points a game last season and like the third or fourth best offensive season in Cowboys history, so I'd say they won't be changing a lot with the offense....

Why are people forever criticizing Gurode, he played better than majority of the centers in the NFC last year...

That offense was overrated and inflated against crap teams, as I've said before.

I chose 4 teams on the list, but the true test will tell after the draft and in training camp. I think Flozell and Kosier have question marks. But we have made a huge upgrade with this guard, no doubt.

I'm glad you've got this gut feeling that the problem is the playbook and not the lack of ability from the players. I wish you could point to something other than your gut feeling to evidence this.

Oh, they were set out. You just didn't ever acknowledge it after agreeing.

Here's a nice one:
