I'm glad you've got this gut feeling that the problem is the playbook and not the lack of ability from the players. I wish you could point to something other than your gut feeling to evidence this.

Oh, they were set out. You just didn't ever acknowledge it after agreeing.

Here's a nice one:

No they weren't. No timeline was discussed. And I never agreed that Davis was a big name. But I won't debate semantics. Av changed.

Sure they were -- and sure you did agree to Davis.

I'll make an AV bet that says we make less of a splash than we did last year. There will be no Samuel (especially now that he is tagged), no Steinbach, no Freeney, no big names. There is absolutely no reason to sign a name this offseason. We have a talented team, we should focus on role players and the draft.

I'd do an avy bet that we sign one of Dielman, Steinbach, or Leo Davis (assuming all 3 hit the market).

Lemme know the terms. Jerrah won't pay $$ again for a guard.

All 3 have to hit the market. If we don't get one of them, you can choose whatever avy for me for a month and vice versa.

That offense was overrated and inflated against crap teams, as I've said before.

Naa the Cowboys put points on the board against pretty much everyone, go back and look at the film..

I voted for every team on the list except for the Giants.

Most of those teams have established OL's that play at a higher level than we've seen in Dallas in many a year...however, we did improve our OL greatly, and hopefully we'll see it on the field this year, but to say we have a better OL than most of those teams before we even play a game is being a homer.

Gotta love that MossBurner Redstink fan. He voted for every team on the list over the Cowboys. :lmao:

I don't see it as being a homer Wayne. The Cowboys have added a pro-bowl alternate at guard.

On top of that many of the teams listed have taken hits through free-agency.

Take the Commanders for instance... With Ross Tucker at guard they have a better o-line than the Cowboys? Are you kidding me?

Our line has not played 1 game as of yet, before heaping praise I'd like to see them in action. All too often I have had high hopes about the line and end up being disappointed, not this time I want to see it first.

I guess it comes down to the wait and see approach.

Our O-Line may look great now but we will not really know until we see it during the season.

I hope the Cowboys have a better line than most of those teams, but I'm not going to say it until I see it.

And yes, I'd trade Adams and Colombo for Samuels and Janson. I'd trade Kozier for Thomas, and I'd have traded Dockery for either of our guards last year, but as you said, he's gone.

If Adams and Colombo, Kozier and Adams get the job done at a high level this year, then I'll change my thinking and be thrilled...Gurode just needs to make sure he doesn't take a step back....btw, I wasn't calling you a homer, just anyone who doesn't think that most of those teams had better lines than we put on the field last year...this year remains to be seen. I assumed you put the poll out there to check where people were in their thinking.

The only line I can see that is better is Philly's.

Washington, Cincy, San Diego all took major hits in free agency.

I don't think the Giants O-line is that good.

i dont know if losing dockery was a major hit- he was the skins 4th best O lineman, at best. he played well last season, but hes not irreplacable, and the skins O line was playing great the last half of the season.

This is so true. About 3-4 years ago, the Cardinals, on paper, were supposed to have the greatest OL ever, because they were the biggest in history and young.

Yet they have been consistently among the worst.

People see big and heavy on the OL and incorrectly attribute that to 'good.'

I'd say our line, potentially, is around 7 or 8, putting Leonard Davis at RG and retaining Marc Columbo, pushes our line up quite a few notches from last year's version, that right-side is going to be beastly, it will balance out the left-side where we averaged something like 4.8, 4.9 yards per carry

our O sucked against good teams because our D was a sieve, it kept our O off the field and forced us to abandon the running game

notice how our O declined when our D gave up 100 points in 4 games?

be careful what you say, we know how it it feels to have just 1 position on our line play terrible

I've never said our O sucked, just that it became less effective. I do think that what you said has truth to it, but I think there are other factors. Not enough movement on offense (ie - lining TO up in the slot, different formations, presnap movement, etc), our running plays I dislike, don't like the WR routes, and I am sick of the 1 step drop, throw to Terry Glenn on a slant.

I think that our offense could be soooo much more.

Oh, please. I've simply argued that I don't think he was pushed back as much as people claim. What does that have to do with noticing that Gurode often looks lost, Flozell is unable to keep up with outside speed rushers, and Rivera is consistently over-powered?

Oh, and how about that avatar bet that we wouldn't sign one of Steinbach, Dielman, or Davis? ;)
No, He was pushed back way more than people claim........
