no not a youngster, im 56

thats why i know my football, in some ways romo reminds me if a don meredith, tex schramn would always tell don, when are you going to grow up and be the leader on this team, etc

romo does almost the same thing in some regards
both would fight you tooth and nail to the end, and dandy don would have alittle smile too to a degree
if you also remember don would party too to a degree, just didnt get publized as much back then

till roger staubach would come in, this team didnt take the next step

im not saying romo is a don meredith etc, im just saying in some ways they remind me of each other

so in some regards, i know my football and what i see;

It was an assumption I made b/c of your posting style: all lowercase and abbreviated sentences typical of kids these days.

You freaked me out when you went off in detail on the older players. Cool.

Mike Renfro. Scratch that, Mike Lucky? Lucky was 84 before he was 86 wasn't he? Its not Ogden or Jeffers, they were 85 and 81.

Excellent work.

It is Mike Lucky. I was going for obscure and esoteric, but you saw straight through my ruse.:D

I came close to posting a picture of Macey Brooks, but I didn't think it would be fair; Brooks never made the final cut, as I recall. I suppose I could've gone with Ed Hervey.

yep, i loved howley and adderly;
i still remember the interception where howley was on the ground, got off of it quick and intercepted the ball and later when running with the interception, howley had a TD in front of him to run the ball in, but he ran out of gas and fell down on his own

Was that the pick against the Dolphins? If Calvin Hill doesn't fumble at the goal line, the buttkicking would have been much worse.

yep that was the game, and true if calvin didnt go up and over, in fact every time calvin hill went up and over at goalline etc, he would fumble, remember mel renfro said something like dog gone it, every time he goes up and over he fumbles

i wasnt too pleased with calvin hill when he wouldnt sign his contract and went to the other league in nfl, and of course right in there, we lost duane thomas too

some players didnt realize how they had it so good,

just like duane thomas thought that tex schramn was racist, but he found out he wasnt, it was all about money and tex was saving money, because when duane found out how much bob lily really made in the 70s, he was shocked,

thats derrick kennard, he was a monster we picked up in the 95 super bowl run, he was huge and a massive run blocker, really helped us at center after ray donaldson went down with a injury;

Once we cover the 60's and 70's, we'll start with the 80's then the 90's for the youngsters...:laugh2:

Multiple Pro Bowler Herb Scott, who caught Staubach's last pass. Of course, the play wasn't drawn up that way.

yep and killed us in the playoffs due to jim brown

That would have been Leroy Kelly. Brown retired after the 1965 season and we lost to Cleveland in the playoffs in 1968 & 69 after beating them badly in 1967.

Those two losses to the Browns were killers for me. I hate them and Art Modell (may he rot in his grave) to this day!

now this guy i loved, and some of you will love this story
Herbert scott;
herbert scott was on a bus going to the practice field or something like that;and this guy reached out and tried to steal his wallet, herbert scott grabbed the guy by the throat and held him there to police came

also if some of you dont know this or not, in the john elway thing where he didnt want to play for the colts, and the cowboys had offered more draft picks than dan reeves did with the broncos,

the cowboys were offering herbert scott in the deal too from what i heard;
for john elway, with the draft picks,

when herbert scott heard about it, after the trade fell through, scotts mother flew in with herbert scott to verify that herbert scott wouldnt be traded
