This year is an abundance of break out opportunity.
Escobar,TLawrence,Gardener,Bishop,Whaley,Crawford. Really the entire defensive line [did I really say that?].
Then there are the rookies that have a chance to show , Gregory,BJones and Collins.
I know its popular to take the wait and see approach but taking injuries into consideration and the great teaching
and motivational skills of Marinelli and Red I think we have an opportunity in the play offs. A real opportunity.

I'd like nothing better than to say "all of the above" but am afraid that's somewhat unlikely. I'll go with Demarcus Lawrence and hope it actually comes to pass. They're saying he's made big strides physically and the 2nd year is when talented DEs oftentimes find ways to make a difference. Besides, he's one of those "quick twitch" guys that Marinelli likes so much. Maybe he'll manage to quick twitch his way into the opponents' backfield.

Byron Jones. Breaking out as in he is just too good to not start over one of our top two Corners or Safeties. I really hope this kid proves to be the type of playmaker this team has been missing in the secondary since the very early days of Roy Williams.

I will take the outside odds approach and give you two names that arent easy names, but I feel have excellent talent, that will give the staff major headaches when final cuts come down.
Reshod Fortenberry, OT, Texas Tech
and
Jason Wilson, CB, Central Michigan
These arent easy names, and I want to see how much fight they bring to TC, and I honestly think they will elevate their positional groups in the process.
Just keep an eye out on these two, they are both fighters and will not go away easily.

I kinda think we know what we have and I don't really see anyone living up to being something outside of their current expectations besides 1 of the runningbacks or a rookie on defense.

I would really like to see Nzeocha get a roster spot, though I doubt it will happen.

Breakout of any player, or a player not expected to breakout.
Top draft picks, 2nd year players, like DLaw, are expected to be better, play well, have a decent TC

But I will go with the so called underdogs, to have a good TC.

McFadden, will surprise a lot of people / naysayers.
AJ Jenkins will show why he was a high draft pick and at least push for the 5th WR spot, or possibly make the coaches think of keeping 6 WR's.
Weems, will make the coaches have a hard choice of putting Gibson on the PS, but also depends if Green starts and is kept on the PUP list, and if they keep 8 or 9 OL.

Wilson at LB, will push Wilber off the roster at LB, I never been all that impressed with Wilber. Or Cam Lawrence, other than ST's play.
Chris Whaley, he will impress and move past Coleman and Bishop.
T. McClain will show why he was brought in last year, being healthy this year. Hopefully between McClain, Whaley, Bishop, Coleman, Hayden is pushed off the roster.
Edwards, somehow I think he gives a fan favorite Gardner a run for a roster spot.
Mo, shows he can be value at CB. I put him in here because of recovering from a major injury, and people love to hate on him, so I want him to prove the haters wrong.

Byron Jones - This rookie will surprise a lot of people
McFadden - Will compete for the starting job
Lael Collins - Will push Leary for the starting LG position
Gregory - Another rookie that will surprise a lot of people.

I'll take Woodson 2.0

From Machota's list, I think Escobar, Dunbar and Randle have already shown their talent. I don't know that looking good in preseason will mean anything for them. It's all about how many opportunities they get in the regular season.
