"He sucked", "he was terrible".....compared to what? Under what circumstances?

Who are you comparing him too?

It can't be the league, I've already shown that his numbers, as small a sample that they are, seem superior to most.

Understand:

I'm not saying his numbers indicate him to be elite. I'm saying his numbers did not indicate that he couldn't do the job, that he wouldn't succeed with more experience.

The issue should that the FO was comfortable with Weden for some time(and praised him as most improved player and gifted passer) . Then desides to drop him mid season.

It's the same with the RB position and WR position. They are guessing and panicing.

I also remember he was not given the benefit of a functional defense, many of those guys were still hurt or suspended. He did not have Dez Bryant, he did not have the stability of a back that was featured all game long.

Two of his three opponents were undefeated at the time they played, including defending champions.

Weeden's QB rating in the 2nd half was over 100. Cassell's is 67.8.

Cutting him was a grave error, as was underestimating the cohesive value of Murray, and trusting a fool like Randle.

So what you are saying is JG sucks at evaluating QBs. Ok then. I agree.

.......But the sample size was large enough to say he needed to be replaced.

That's how hypocrisy works. You cannot make an evaluation using data to determine he needed to be replaced and then rebuke the exact same data when it is cited to demonstrate numbers that refute the results of that evaluation.

Furthermore, you cannot ignore the same criteria when evaluating his replacement.

If we had signed Cassell before the season then would we have kept him as the starter given the current results. We would have probably replaced him with someone like....Weeden.

Or should I expand on Cassell's stats and the drives he directed?

Doesn't anybody find it just a little disheartening when another team scoops up the guy you cut 5 minutes ago?

well

mayb...

no, cannot rue Weeden, even on my 5th beer

Weeden was also here last year...and every offseason, preseason and full Wed practice reps. It was a 20 pound Whitmann's sampler

Speaking of stats, how many games straight has Weeden lost as a starter?

I'll wait.

I thought you were speaking of stats? Or are you referring to Weeden's minor league pitching record. This is s football board.

Well jones boys are the ones who replaced weed and cut him.
They also thought it was good move to let murray go and go with randle.
Weedon may well be better than cassel.
maybe he gets to play for houston, I think hoyer got hurt last game.

You know the saying, you can't make chicken **** into chicken salad. People need to put down the stat book and use these things called "eyes". I saw a scared puppy afraid to release the ball, and had no clue rushers were coming at him.

Yeah, it was Cassel who put us over the top in that Washington win. Oh wait, he never scored a TD. He has scored 4 TDs in his last 6 starts, and one of those games he had 3 TDs. At least Weeden was already on the roster and didn't cost us anything.

If you break down Weeden's 92.2 rating by target distance, his numbers reflect the fact that he struggled on passes 10 or more yards downfield. His fairly high rating was built on passes of 9 yards or less, which made up more than 70% of his attempts.

Cassel has actually been slightly worse. This is the trouble with our offense, compared to previous seasons. Without Romo, we have no downfield passing threat. This allows defenses to load up on the run, which compounds our problems and leads some to think our running game has dropped off the face of the earth.

Weeden
targets of 9 yards or less
59 of 68 442 yds 0 td 0 int 93.8
targets of 10+ yards
12 of 28 297 yds 2 td 2 int 76.0

Cassel
targets of 9 yards or less
91 of 120 690 yards 3 td 3 int 87.2
targets of 10+ yards
25 of 56 549 yds 2 td 3 int 69.6

Romo (2011)
targets of 9 yards or less
254 of 328 2090 yds 11 td 4 int 99.3
targets of 10+ yards
91 of 173 2094 yds 20 td 6 int 120.4
