There are guilty pleasure movies because they're so bad that it's a crime they were made and they fit the pure definition for a guy to be watching them alone. It fits the criteria of I would be embarrassed for people to see me watching these movies without a woman that I am either trying to get between the sheets or make up for some transgression, usually both. I admit it, the truth is out, I have watched these 4 movies in the last 2 weeks and 2 of them Thursday night back to back, the last 2. Oh, the horror.

Do not think ill of me as I do not think I've been well. I may nave the virus and watching these movies might not be a symptom they're ready to reveal just yet to prevent true panic.

Saturday Night Fever
Urban Cowboy
Footloose
Dirty Dancing

I must plead innocent to that last one as my wife was a Patrick Swayze fan and reading his book about his fight against the monster when she was diagnosed and I am forever connected to his movies and Next of Kin and Roadhouse are a must watch for me about twice a year, Ghost, I can only handle once a year.

I gotta say, I love a good comedy and that scene when Kevin Bacon goes Baryshnikov in that mill makes me belly laugh, it is truly one of the worst cinematic moments in history, tied with the closeup of Kong in the original movie.
Dirty Dancing is actually a pretty decent movie, in parts. It's definitely over the top corny in the romance department, but there's some really good music, and some pretty funny parts.

Next of Kin was cool, especially once the kin arrived.

Roadhouse has some good fight scenes, and you can't completely disregard any movie with Sam Elliott.

I really think you misunderstood the idea behind "guilty pleasure". As CC said, it's something you'd be embarrassed to be caught watching. For instance, riding a moped might be a guilty pleasure, or Big Bertha.

Next of Kin is great watching Liam Neeson in that role. I dig me some foreign hillbillies.

Roadhouse fits my need for the pure guilty pleasure of violence. I just have the need for that sometimes and I wonder if I am Ok in the noggin. But then I consider who I am considering and I say Ok, it's a guilty pleasure, as long as I watch it and don't do it. That's why I'll watch Seagal, Statham and the John Wick and Expendables movies, just some good old fashioned killing of some deserving people. Maybe since there is so little real justice in this world, I seek it in the movies? I watched Last Man Standing for about the 30th time this past week. Then I feel the need to watch the original of that, A Fistful of Dollars. I like the Spaghetti westerns because I don't have to wait for the killin' to begin. I like to keep count with the bullets and dead bad guys with popcorn. John Wick is a whole mouthful at a time!

I like over the top action movies. I am currently binging on Red and The Expendables, what is not to like about great casts kicking arse and taking names?
Yep, chaos and mayhem and bodies left and right. Nice was to spend an afternoon.

I don't think i would be embarrassed getting caught watching them, i just think there are some things said that wouldn't be considered very nice.

yeh Tim, you have a number of critically acclaim and widely awarded films such as Casino, Goodfellas, Tombstone, Reservoir Dogs, and Full Metal Jacket on your list, that i can't see as quite Guilty Pleasures, ..the over the top, under radar, B-movies or low regard among critics
i think Its a difference between Favorites vs Guilty Pleasures ....... :D

Adventures in Babysitting was hilarious! The little girl who wanted to be Thor was great! I feel like I should know who she was.
