That's so true. But hey, Jimmie Johnson had his chief suspended at the beginning of the season and won the cup.

So that's a good sign for Kahne right! :pray2:

I wouldn't mind Kahne winning since it appears Junior is going nowhere fast. There's only a few guys I'm rooting against though, so as long as they don't win I'll probably be ok with it.

Jimmie Johnson - since he won last year, and I've never been a big fan of his.
Jeff Gordon - because I've hated him since I was in highschool, he infuriates me for some reason.
Kevin Harvick - P*$$ed me off by winning the busch series when he was racing full time in the Nextel cup.
Denny Hamlin - Those commercials with him that come on twice every break are really getting on my nerves.

So, is the reason that you like Fulham FC because they have three Americans on their squad? I like soccer, but I just can't seem to root for soccer clubs based in Europe. But when I do casually watch, I do pull for Fulham.

I can't think of any other reason to cheer for perenial also rans Fulham FC.

After the Cowboys, my UNC Tar Heels are firmly in second place. Basketball AND football. I'm not one of those lame fans that root for a different school in each sport. Then again, I did graduate from UNC so that would be borderline sacrilege as far as I'm concerned.

A while down the list are the Texas Rangers and San Antonio Spurs. I used to be a huge baseball fan until I was old enough to realize that it was run by morons and that the economics of the game are completely screwed.

Then, much farther down the list, is the Dallas Stars. Just not a huge hockey fan, never have been. But I definitely tune in come Stanley Cup time.

But, anyone who doesn't like it, I am convinced would swing the other way if they were to go to just ONE playoff game for their local team. There is NOTHING, no sporting event, or any other event, that can even come close to that kind of excitement. Not football, baseball, basketball, anything. Hockey takes them all.
I had the chance to go to a Carolina Hurricanes game against the Sabres in the playoffs, and it was definitely amazing. Hockey is one of those sports that is literally infinitely better to see live.

But I do have to disagree with you about the excitement thing. I have had the chance to go to a couple UNC-dook basketball games and absolutely NOTHING will top the level of excitement there. NOTHING.

This thread is proving great for running up my post count, lol.

Anyways, though it isn't a "team", I just wanted to mention that I am an absolute HUGE fan of mixed martial arts. UFC, PRIDE FC, that kind of thing. Behind the Cowboys and Tar Heels, I would have to say that MMA is the thing I follow the most in sports. I started watching the stuff around 2005 and have been absolutely hooked since.

It is starting to trickle into the mainstream, too. Just watch, by 2008, you will be seeing MMA covered on SportsCenter. The sport is absolutely exploding right now.

OK. Outside of college athletics on tobacco road, or in the ACC pretty much at all (I've been to Maryland-UNC, it was crazy...I'd imagine MD-Duke is even crazier). You're right, though - nothing really matches college athletics, especially basketball. Never been to a college football game that really mattered.

Poor terps...:(
