Like those people who die climbing Mt Everest, if they didnt climb it they wouldnt be dead. Or those idiots that get lost while hiking and wind up dieing of starvation, exposure, or falling, heres a clue McFly, dont go hiking. I cant feel sorry for someone who dies on the ski slope, keep your arse off the slopes and you'd still be alive.

While I do agree with you to a point about people climbing MT Everest (I don't think they deserve to die...but they are putting themselves at EXTREME Risk)...learning how to ski on a bunny slope is Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay...different.

This is tragic...to say the least.

Come on. Guaranteed more people die in car accidents. You gonna stop driving McFly?

I was going to post the same thing about Cars.

Stay out of them...because if you die in a accident...there will be no sympathy for you...you deserve it for taking any risk at all.

No not at all. Driving is different, everyone drives. To me, dieing in a car accident is tragic, unless its your fault. Same with a plane crash or a sinking boat.

Im not saying shes stupid but if she didnt go skiing she would be alive today, same with Sonny Bono, and that Kennedy.

I'm not sure about how Bono came to have his accident...besides I think he ran into a tree...but Kennedy WAS screwing around playing Ski football on the slopes as his family was known to do.

I'm not positve but I think the Ski Patrol told them to knock it off, but they kept playing.

Again BIG difference.

Unlike many of my friends and peers in my age group, I have never felt the urge to go skiing...especially after my sister tore her knee up doing so. If the good Lord had meant for man to ski, he'd have given us longer feet!

My guess is the majority of people have gone skiing before in their lives too. Everyone flies, everyone's been on a boat etc. The fact that everyone does it doesn't mean that you can't die from it.

If all those people who have died in car and plane crashes hadn't been in the car or plane, then they wouldn't have died either.

There's a cause for every death. And you can always say, "well if you hadn't done this, then you wouldn't have died." I suppose we should all stay in our homes and do nothing. But I suppose when you die of a heart attack because you don't do anything but sit on the couch, then we would all say, "well if you hadn't sat around doing nothing, you wouldn't have died."
Excellent point. I think this is a classic case of somebody saying (or in this case posting) something simply for the sake of doing and being contrarian (or even controversial if you will.) A quick glance at the IMDB message boards and you'll similarly thoughtless posts.

skiing and snowboarding is so easy though, the chances of dying in an accident if you obey the rules is really slim

That's not always true.

Many people have a very difficult time learning either sport. And when you suck, the danger level is increased.

that's true that it takes some people longer to learn something, and their chances of getting hurt increase because of that

I don't want to insinuate that Natasha was being careless or foolhardy, I just find it hard to believe that being a skiing novice pits you at an increased risk for death, or millions of people wouldn't be learning how to ski

People should be wary of Universities too. I heard those can be dangerous.

That reminds me of when I used to be a Maintenence Man at an apartment complex. One of my jobs was to keep two swimming pools cleaned every morning.

Well, I was at a pool place buying chemicals and they had this product (cannot rememeber exactely what it was called) but when you added it to the pool, if someone pee-peed in the pool the water would turn bright purple where they were peeing!

True story...

I bought the stuff (Pool Break...I think it was called?) ... and put it in both pools that morning when I cleaned the pools.

Later in the afternoon when people came home from work and went to the pool for a swim, I noticed 3 girls that came first...

Guess what...after about 1/2 hour I went around the pool (to clean the garbage cans out, not to check out the girls...: ) and this one girl jumped in and was swimming around for a minute or two when all of a sudden...the water between her legs started turning purple as hell!

:laugh2:

If I'm lying, I'm dying!

She saw it, I saw it (did nothing) and she jumped out really quick and told her friends what happened.

Hysterical laughter from those girls.

My Manager made me post a sign at the pools that "urinating in the pool will turn the water purple".

Natasha Richardson chose not to wear an inexpensive ski helmet which could have saved her life.

According to "The Sun," the actress who died after falling during a ski lesson at a Canadian resort, turned down resort staff recommendations that she wear the head protection.

One staff member said, "We are heartbroken that we didn't do more to persuade her to wear one. A helmet would have cost her just ten dollars."

The 45-year-old wife of "Schindler's List" actor Liam Neeson fell and suffered fatal brain bleeding during a lesson at the Canadian ski resort on Monday.

She was taken off of life-support on Wednesday after being declared brain dead. Doctors say she suffered from bleeding between the brain and skull.

The tragedy at the Mont Tremblant resort in Quebec has sparked calls for helmets to be made mandatory in Canada.

Wow that's unbelievable....losing your life over ten dollars when you are worth millions.

You'd be surprised how many people choose not to wear head protection while skiing or snowboarding.

I wouldn't.

I'm a sale's rep for several ski/snowboard companies, and one of them is a helmet company. Most people are too vain to wear them. It's damn hard to build a high density protective helmet that doesn't make you look somewhat goofy.

....sadly, it's the vain people who end up drooling or dead.

...and before people get all huffy, I'm not calling Mrs. Richardson "vain". By all accounts she was a wonderful person.
