Was there discussion about QL butchering the national anthem last night? Even Romo had a "what the hell is this face" going on. He put his helmet on a walked away before she finished.

That was a travesty. Maybe I am just getting old but I hate when people mess with the National Anthem. It is not a jingle and shouldnt be sung like one.

Sometimes the simplest things in life are the best, not everything needs to be jazzed up.

Singing the national anthem, at least to me, at a sporting event is such a waste of time. words get mangled and forgotten, every performing puts his stupid spin on it and the SSB is such a valentine to war that it makes me ill.

Let us have "America the Beautiful" as our anthem and let us not debase it by featuring it in a gladiatorial venue.

I think Romo began walking onto the field because it sounded like Queen Latifah was done (but she went on to repeat "home of the brave" several times). I think when he realized she was still singing, he headed back towards the sidelines.

You need to learn a little history of the song. It was a Poem written by an American(Francis Scott Key) who was held prisoner on a British ship while he watched the British bombard our country.

O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?

Which one are you referring to? They sang it twice. I thought Queen Latifa did a decent job. The other one is a joke.

I have never understood why the US lets singers basically make up their own version of the national anthem. It's really cheesy IMO

I'm not a big fan of stylized versions of the NA, but it was definitely on key and I thought she sounded good.

She didnt HIP HOP..she rarely raps anymore....she is into Jazz/spoken word type stuff....it still was done...EVERYONE IS NOT WHITNEY HOUSTON...

I KNOW the history of the national anthem, professor.
Fact: It glorifies war, not the price we pay.
Subjective fact: Its composition and construction is a like a musical train wreck.
Fact: Calling someone ignorant is arrogrant and name calling someone for halfing an opinion is un-American.

And, yeah, professor, it's always great to hear a valentine to war and Old Gory while we munch on nachos and balance our beer cups while we anxiously await the kickoff. Sure makes me appreciate the price some half paid!

I was hoping no one started this thread because it usually goes somewhere this board does well to stay away from.

Everyone's music preference is different and that difference should be respected. Two different people can hear a halftime show a come away with differing opinions.
