National Signing Day...

There is a rumor that Torshiro Davis might be signing with Texas. He has been considered an LSU commit for a long time now. This would be a big surprise for both programs, if true. As far as I know, it's just a rumor but Ketchum is reporting it.

Ketch is a joke, Chip Brown is much better with regards to Texas sports reporting IMO

I heard about this last night that LSU was worried because they could not contact Davis yesterday. I guess this makes up for Perilloux.

Good get by Texas there.

Seems Houston just swiped a big time commit from Notre Dame. WR Deontay Greenberry (Washington Union (Fresno, Ca.) High School).

skhanjr Greenberry comes Washington Union High School in Fresno, CA. He was California's "Mr. Football" per Cal-Hi Sports. Greenberry is a Rivals Top 100 kid: ranked 49th in the country by Rivals. Ranked as 9th-best prospect in California.

Very nice get by UH. :)

All other UH signings for the very few interested

Edit: Another big time swipe?

skhanjr West St. Mary (Baldwin, La.) HS athlete Jontrey Tillman has signed with Houston. Former Stanford commitment. 5-9, 170.

Couple big surprises today, Torshiro to Texas being one of them. Is Texas planning on moving some of these linemen to linebacker? If not there will be a serious logjam on the defensive line in a few years as they have now signed seven this year to go along with the four they signed last year.

Also, apparently a five star receiver switched from Notre Dame to Houston. How in the hell did the domers let that happen? Houston has a nice little thing going lately, but they should NEVER be able to steal a recruit from a school like ND. Someone really dropped the ball there. Unbelievable coup by the Cougars though, a kid like that should be able to dominate CUSA.

Grades, UCLA was looking at him as well but he didn't have the grades. Plus Greenberry has a very close relationship with the W/R coach at Houston. Either way it's still a great get for Houston.

Houston's new receivers coach recruited the guy when he was at Arizona State. He had previously committed to OK State, then Notre Dame. The guy convinced him to come to Houston for a visit and I guess he liked it.

So yay for the Coogs. :)

Didnt know this, but if he has the grades to get into Houston he has the grades to get into UCLA. Every FBS school in the country has the same minimum standards for athletic admission as set by the NCAA. Now, some schools have ways of navigating around this via "questionable" methods (Bama is notorious for this) but in theory it's the same for everyone.

Notre Dame is one of those schools though that insists upon keeping their academic integrity even with athletes and elects to maintain higher academic standards for them than the NCAA requires, which is why they havent done much in 20 years. All the smart kids who were good at football used to go there, not so much anymore. They need to lower their standards IMO to compete regularly again. Northwestern and a couple others do this as well.

Reports surfacing on the eve of National Signing Day that Texas Longhorn defensive tackle Calvin Howell is electing to transfer. Howell was expected to contend for major reps this Spring and battle for a starting defensive tackle spot, replacing the departing Kheeston Randall. Good luck to Calvin wherever he chooses to strap it on again. Hook 'em.

Ranking wise he's their best signee in 20 years. He'll likely start from the time he sets foot on campus.

Look at the father of Texas RB commit Jonathan Gray unable to give the "hook 'em" sign. He is former Texas Tech standout James Gray.

His dad is a Red Raider, his uncle is an Aggie and his cousin is currently attending OU. Needless to say his decision probably did not come without pressure. :laugh2:

According to Reports, Texas has all 28 LOI signed and in the fold. Unlikely that there will be any further action for UT.

I do not think that they will have the top rated class but I think they will certainly be Top 5. Maybe top 3.

OH, BS. Stanford has done well and they might even be tougher then ND. It is all about the coaches; how good are they at recruiting. ND has a shot at a top 10 class this year; Weis had several. We can get the talent; we just need the coaches that can develope it.

In addition to this transfer, Texas has had several injuries to their DL. Prior to this CLASS, Texas only had 4 active DEs on the Roster. They really needed to bring in some depth at DE IMO.
