Not sure it matters.

Dallas hadn't won in PHX in like 4 years. PHX had owned them down the stretch of games and just generally presented so much length and fundamentally soiu8nd play DAL never stood a chance in most of those games.

DAL/GSW should be a lot of fun. Likely goes to team who is hottest from 3.

The Spurs are a small market team that won for 15 years.
MIL is small market and won it all last year.

OKC had immense talent and I feel most GM's with that talent pool would have tweaked the roster and won a title or 3.
Coaching was a bit amiss and the roster building left a lot to be desired.
They traded Harden because they were off his demands by 4.5M a year. And didn't get back an all-star.
Then he made All 1st team NBA a few times....
Small market teams cannot lose guys like Harden over 4.5M per year.

But sure maybe Presti gets a gig elsewhere and runs up the long playoff runs.
I would just have zero excitement for that hire in Dallas.
Nico was a total unknown but at least he had real relationships with star players and agents.

Is this about Durant? He left OKC because they threw any chance they had to build a legit contender around him by trading Harden for no good reason. Not wanting to pay him a baby max was stupidity, not cheapness

It dates back to 2020, so Klay was out. This season, Klay missed 50 games, Draymond missed 36 games, and Curry missed 18 games, so yeah, I'm guessing some of the games the Dubs weren't fully healthy.

I really thought the Suns were made of tougher stuff. To go from Finals to just folding over for the Mavs and blowing a 2-0 lead. So now their point guard is probably too old. It doesn’t look like they’re set on re-signing their young big man. What looked like a team that was set now has a bunch of question marks?

With the emergence of Poole, the Warriors are really trying to figure out how to the max out the talent, yet jelling and really playing together. Klay just came on, then add Wiggins who was a starter, who seems disconnected at times. He was hot earlier in the season but his play tapered off a bit, although he did show some life lately. His FT accuracy also suffered. The lost of P3 and Porter (big man) hurts no pun. Wiseman I believe would've have helped nicely. It is what it is.

As good and exciting as the Dubs are, the playoffs in no way so far has been a cakewalk. Oh those turnovers will haunt. Memphis were in their faces for all but 2 or minutes (each had an off game).

They beat the #2 seed, but do they beat the seed below them?

I think it was their experience and DNA that brought them to the finals, and not Memphis or Denver.

yeah agree that was dumb, esp choosing Westbrook over Harden although Harden wasn’t MVP caliber at that time.

Spurs had magic with Tim and then an unselfish nucleus that cared more about winning than money. Now we will see if they are relevant again anytime in the next 15 though because of all those small market disadvantages

They were good with the Admiral before Duncan.

They added a vet piece or two every year and they drafted insanely well.
They were good as the nucleus aged with Kawhi whom they drafted and maxed out.

The challenge now of course will be replacing Pop.
If you are looking for a guy a Lakers type franchise should be begging to take the job, it is Pop.

OKC was last really good in 2014. They've basically been a mess since and there is no obvious plan beyond stack picks.
They make trades that make them worse just to get a pick attached and rinse and repeat.
So they have a zillion picks but no obvious way forward. They pick 4th this year and have a 2nd pick but it is 12th with a 3rd pick that is all the way down at 30th.
Roster mgmt is just nuts. SGA is 24 before the season hasn't been on a good team yet and they signed him for 172M to keep tanking??.

Also Boo Hiss Spurs. I am a Mavs fan. lol

Giddey looked very promising. I think if you are OKC you make pick #4, and make a trade to get competitive for a 6th-8th seed in 2023. They arent getting a Cade Cunningham type pick through the draft, they wont lose enough for that.

I think you look to test and evaluate Giddy and who ever they draft at 4 to see if they are legit core pieces or if they are complimentary 4th/5th starters. Getting a low seed and seeing how competitive they can be VS a top seed even though you are probably getting swept. I dont know who is out there that can push them into that 7th/8th seed contention. They were a good 10 games out of the play in

Spurs fan here, Pacers drafted Kawhi and then traded him to the Spurs for George Hill lol.
