Linebacker Sean Lee didn’t practice again Friday, and the Cowboys list him as questionable to play Sunday against the Rams. The team’s defensive play-caller and second-leading tackler injured his hamstring in Monday night’s game and didn’t practice all week.

“He’s a great football player and undoubtedly the leader of our defense, but it goes beyond that,” Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Friday. “He just makes a ton of plays. I think he makes everybody around him better but injuries are a part of the game and if he’s able to play, obviously we’d love to have him but if he’s not, put somebody else in there and we’ll keep rolling.”

Veteran Justin Durant likely would replace Lee at weakside linebacker if Lee can’t play.

Linebacker Anthony Hitchens (knee) is questionable after returning to practice this week but seems unlikely to play as he works his way back from a tibial plateau fracture.

Ok with Durant but that's a step down. Never know when a sub gets a TO though. Pressure and pass defense more important.

This is obviously a huge loss. There's no way I'd play him on Sunday unless the team was just blowing smoke and they were really just giving Sean a weeks worth of "Vet" days.

The general rule is: you don't practice Friday, you don't play.

I would hope trainers make the final call on Lee. If you don't give the hamstring time to heal it is so easy to reinjure it. I don't want to slight the Rams but we have GB after the rams and right now Cowboys risk Lee reinjuring the hamstring and possibly unable to finish the game and losing him the following week vs GB. I don't know how server this injury is but I would think the training staff does so let them make the call. JMO

Garrett said it will be up to Lee if he thinks he can play in the press conference. Why risk him in practice.

Yeah he's out. Not a guy you can replace. Just puts more pressure on the O to show up in top form. The Rams should be able to score on us, given their recent form and the loss of our key cog on D.

Player coach doesn't need to practice
If he's healthy enough is another issue

Since we are shorthanded at lb, and this is Lee we are talking about, doubt that rule applies to him. If he feels he can manage it on Sunday, he'll play. If not, ok.

This is really bad news both for our run D and pass D

Yes, but he is one player. We can use more dime or maybe use DMoore at lb who knows. Since we are pretty deep at DE, Tapper most likely is active now with Lee out.

Our offense should control the clock with Zeke getting back to form and Dak starting to use his legs more. Just don't see our offense starting slow once again. We have too many weapons for the Rams to cover. I expect us to use Swit at wr. Rams have more worries trying to stop our offense than we do with theirs. Dak is rounding back to form of last years Dak. He won't be force feeding the ball to Dez everytime. Reason for alot of his stuggles and not moving out of the pocket.

People act like we didn't go a whole season without Sean Lee and play pretty well on defense. I love Lee but he isn't going to make or break the defense. Other guys should know the defense/gameplan anyway, being in this defense for the past 5 years
