Is it me or is it too coropate[sp]? All the high price names of Madden, Costas, Collinswerth, Michaels and Kramer kind of makes me sick(not Madden.) Football to me is you don't need all of that ego, give me the old school any day. The CBS of " You are looking live at Solider's field in Chicago where today you will see the Bears take on the Browns." Or the early Fox telecast's where they did the skits in the begining and kind of went into all the games with their patent beat. Give me Dick Enberg/Dan Dierdorff, Summerall/Madden, Stocken/Millen, and a few others. Give me JB over Costas, Tom Jackson over Collinswerth, and Erin Andrews over Kramer. Just the trio of Costas, Michaels and Collinswerth come off to me as the most arrogant guys and that there somewhat part of the show. I remember the days were you enjoyed hearing Summeral and Madden, but never once do I remember them jumping on anyone unfairly. I loved the fact they would give more pub to the players[which it should be] then trying to rip them to give themselves a name. Madden a prime example of being opposite, he gave much love to many OLines in the league, and many of the hard working players such as Bill Bates. The snakes of Collisnwerth, Costas and Michaels would jump in a heartbeat just to give them pub and make them look important.

Cossell + Meredith + Gifford = Three Uber Egos.

And amazing football entertainment.

I got DirecTV about a year ago, with my local channels. Honestly, I can't remember ever tuning in to NBC in recent times. I had to look at my channel guide to figure out where it was.

NBC needs the NFL badly, but they would have been better served to take an approach more like FOX.

I thought NBC did fine. The audio signal for Michaels/Madden seemed clearer and had increased modulation over their broadcast rivals. I was glad they ditched the AFL style "Fox Box" for the one that stretches across the bottom of the screen. You know what to expect with Michaels and Madden, but it's still early to judge the pre-game/post-game, IMO.

I think NBC will put on a good show.

I believe their plan is to have a pregame show that reviews highlights from the earlier games (and ESPN is no longer allowed to do their Sunday evening review show). I'm sure that NBC will do a top-notch job of it. They've got a lot of money and talent tied up in their NFL package.

I may be in the minority, but I like Costas.

When Aikman was in the booth with Madden & Michaels, it made me wish those three were together. I could live without Michaels but someone has to do the play by play. Madden & Aikman would make a pretty good team. I'd prefer those three together over Aikman & Buck, or Aikman, Collingsworth & Buck.

Its almost sad that I now am hoping we don't get many MNF games. I really dread listening to the ESPN MNF games. Or at least if we get MNF games make them homegames.

Yea, i think yhe Moose is actually one of the best as well.
I think he's improved and has developed into being good.

The thing that he used to do (which drove me crazy) was sometimes talk like a 4th grade school teacher who was scolding a kid:

"You can't jump offsides in that situation. You just can't. You hurt your team like that and put them in a bad postion. You've gotta be more focused so those things don't happen. ...."

He's not doing that much anymore.

Troy is good but I think Moose is actually better.

I agree.. Having Troy and Moose together would be good, I think, but someone else would have to do the play by play.

I miss Sumerall...the subtle thing he did that I remember was NOT talk sometimes and just let the roar of the crowd echo or he would make a very simple and short statement..."picked off by Deion Sanders"...
I don't know where studios got the idea that people who tune in to watch football could give a rat's butt about who is commentating on the game...unless of course they are horribly obnoxious, which many of them are right now. Some are so bad I mute it, seriously. Theiswoman, Boomer, ...
Broadcasters need to think about why people watch a football game...its because we can't actually be at the stadium so the more we feel like we are at the stadium the more we enjoy a game. Sure we need an occasional narration but for the most part, astute fans like myself are at home making observations faster than most commentators.
We want to hear the crowd and the sounds of the game.....not some idiot carry on about the 80's 49ers, or Brett Favre (when he's not actually playing in the game), the battle of Constantinople, or etc.
Wish networks would figure out that simple fact...

I liked their production. It was understated, which is something we haven't seen in an NFL broadcast in quite some time. They didn't have the laser beams and animated per Fox and ESPN. Or, even worse, Bosephus screaming at us.
