There will be a qb competition next spring.
OU's problems aren't just Landry. It's not a great idea to run the no huddle like last year when you lost pretty much everyone from last year. The Sooner O line is young and it's hard for a young line to come together when running the hurry up.
We only have one playmaker at wide receiver and it's Broyles. No other receiver of ours can create separation, and when they do, they drop the ball. Landry has thrown some bad passes as well. He has made stupid, rookie decisions.
I attended the spring game and was more impressed with Drew Allen who might just beat Landry out next spring. I am hearing a lot of word on this young kid named Blake Bell as well. He's supposed to be a pretty big deal according to some recruiting experts. I don't jump on that type of wagon until I at least see work out with D1 talent.
This is a bad year but I don't think we're gonna be as bad as some think next season. I think Landry gives us a good shot if he can learn from this season and carry over his learning experiences to next. If he gets beat out by Allen, or dare I say Bell, then that's scary because we'll have a qb with absolutely no Sooner experience on the field again.
I agree with Catch on one main thing, Jones is the front runner for the job since he has basically this whole season under his belt. The job is his to lose, but don't expect him to cakewalk through the spring just like Texas has cakewalked all the way through this oh-so weak Big XII conference.
I look for this conference to be way more competitive next season.
