Sorry man, but I think MLB/OLB is exactly what we should do with our first pick, preferably after a modest trade down. Bobby Carpenter anyone?

I totally agree that that might b a good choice 2 pic 1st but not in the 1st round. if we were to trade down and maybe pic up an extra pick THEN get that MLB in the second that might be ok

I think this is a major area in need of upgrade but I don't it is a must that Dallas select an OT with the 1st pick. I'll stick to my guns and say get the BPA that fits a need. If that ends up being a FS or LB then do it.
Im with you all the way on this!

At this point I'm leaning towards WR, LB or S in the first round, assuming those two positions aren't addressed during Free Agency.

I don't believe in picking O-Linemen in the first round unless they are bonafide studs and I doubt one will be there when its our turn to pick. Plus this team has a history of picking up outstanding lineman in the 2nd round or later anyway (i.e. Flozell Adams and Larry Allen).

I don't buy into this defensive-need offseason. It's time to let that settle for a year or two and see what we already have with the young guys we took last year.

It was our offense that lost us games last year, not our defense. And with an improved offense our young defense will just start to look that much better that much faster.

And lets not overlook the fact that two of our veteren leaders are being shipped out on defense this upcoming year in Glover and Ellis more than likely. The last thing that young defense needs now is to carry the whole work load, instead we should dump that off on our veteren heavy offense to do. Added with a top flight WR and an improved OL, Bledsoe, Key, and Glenn CAN do that.

Sure we can go defense again this offseason but then just run incompetant the second the game lands in the offenses lap like last year. It just doesn't make sense, I'm sorry. Our defense as is can keep us in games this year but no two or three rookie additions is going to turn that into a defense that can win us 8-12 games this year on it's own. Won't matter if we can't drive the ball in the fourth quarter on offense.

Why does everymock draft say we need a OT in the 1st round of the draft? I just personally think it is an obvious need 2 fix the FS position. Ko Simpson or a Micheal Huff (he wont drop to #18 tho) OT mite be something to pick in free agency or keep pettiti and see how he is improving (there was minor improvment last year tho bledsoe couldnt c a whole lot of it from being on his back half the game cuz of tucker. A ball hawk saftey in the back 2 keep things like week 2 of this year from happening would be ideal. Any other sugjestions for a first rounder? and dont say MLB!

Did you happen to sleep through the season??? OT is a MAJOR NEED!!! As far as that goes I'd like to have 2 tackles... Give me a capable center as well. Johnson looked horrible all season. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the defense!! The big plays dropped off as the season progressed due to this little thing called team chemistry.

Team chemistry? I thought it was Dat and Singleton being hurt. Guess I am not paying attention to the chemistry thing.

So, what was wrong with the chemistry on defense?

I think that you are forgetting that we have colombo also who is an unknnown factor. He was big time talent, if not for injury. Who knows how he will shake out?

Anyone counting on Columbo needs their head examined.

Let's get this straight. Columbo is not part of any plans the team has. He is going to have the chance to come to camp and compete for a roster spot. If Columbo earns a spot then signing him is a major success. He isn't even in the picture for a starting position.

Funny how you say he's not part of any plans (Colombo) but BP brought the guy in "knowing" he wouldn't contribute last season with the intention of him competing for next year. I'm not saying he's a sure thing by any means, but he has first round talent and "if" healthy would be an upgrade over any of our OT's.

Cowboys web site says Jones mentioned a WR in the first rnd.

Could be a smokescreen though.

With Flo coming off injury and getting up in years we definitely need an OT the first day of the draft. We have got to get younger in the OL if we are going to get better in the future. I agree with most of you about picking the best player available based on position of need. I have always felt that adding FA's is good if they are young enough to keep for a while. To have a solid OL these guys must play together for a couple years to reach full potential.......which you will never get if you keep adding an old guy each year!:bang2:
