What's reasonable to you? $500, $1,000, $1,500?

To many variables! How much money are you looking to spend and what exactly are you wanting to do with it. (game wise) Are you looking to just play any game today or looking to be able to play high end games 2-3 years from now too. (more money)

Yep, need way more clarifications before we can help.

1. What is the maximum you are willing to spend.
2. You said gaming, are you talking about recent titles? Are the best graphics important to you or are you okay with just being able to run these games?

Holy crap how did this become a its own thread??? Anywho would like to stay in the 800-900 area

Alright.

Are there any components you do not need, such as mouse, keyboard, monitor, etc?

No got everything including a tower but its kinda old 2, but has cooling system so it may do. Just need all the hardware

It was unrelated to the other thread and given the replies you are seeing here it would have likely hijacked the other thread so it was moved to its own thread.

Might want to grab a new tower then, since whatever GFX card we pick might not fit. I'm assuming the power supply won't be enough either.

Do you care about an SSD drive? If not we can use your current HD. I'm assuming it's Sata 2 and not IDE, yes?

So far we can omit:

Monitor
Mouse
Keyboard
Hard Drive(?)

Do I really need an SSD drive??? If not then yes I got everything on the list

Hmm, no, not really. It won't help the realtime performance much. Helps with initial game loads and level loads, though. It also helps out a lot with day to day computing.

Do you require running your games at maximum qualities or are you okay with medium/high settings? Oh and before I forget, what resolution do you run at?

At $900 limit, you might want to skip on the SSD. :)

Would love the best quality and the ability to turn up the texture, but don't know if that's possible for my budget

I could fit it in because he doesn't need the monitor/keyboard/mouse but what I would do is have him set it up the same way I did, get a small SSD, run the OS/few games off of it and do the rest off the other drive.

Oh and before I get in to picking out stuff, do you have any brand allegiances?

Intel / NVIDIA, etc?
